View Full Version : Seat Saving

Do not save an entire row of seats. It's not cool. It's particularly uncool if you start blocking these seats during or before the top half of the double header when your team plays the bottom half. Those seats will remain empty when it could seat the actual fans from the game that's going on. Beyond uncool. If you're there for both games as a neutral fan and you get there early, fair enough. Take any seat you want for you and whoever is with you. Just don't block a whole row of seats. 2-3 seats, maybe. Show consideration and practice common sense.

If it's general admission there is no seat saving....1st come 1st serve..
Last game at Pennington someone was trying to save around 10 seats and i kindly informed them that there was no reserved seating and sat down.
I understand saving a seat or two, but one person saving 10 seats? Thats stupid...
I will sit there every time....

I dunno.. You try telling that to some of these Abilene fans. They save rows at a time for their buddies who are still 20 miles away from the stadium. They throw shirts, towels, blankets, undies, bra's, whatever they can get a hold of into those seats. Heck, once I even saw where someone put their shoe in one of the seats just to save it. If you even so much as look like you're thinking of sitting in one, God help you.

Same for Katy (there was a thread that had something about this and Katy @ a state game the past few years. Between the two, there may be more seats saved than are available! ;)

BUT, also the same for most any team. Saw it @ the SLC/Bowie game as well.

As soon as they will let you in.

The year SV played Carrol High, we left WAAAAAY early. Got into the Stadium a LOT later than I wanted to. Parked on the wrong side, Walked in on the WRONG side, etc, etc.

Finally got to the SV side literally about 20 minutes before kickoff. My buddy walks into the 50 yd line door, walks down about 10 rows, looks back up and motions us down. We had seats on the 50, like 20 rows up, on th aisle. We couldn't have asked for better seats.

I have gotten to big games WAY ahead, and gotten crappy seats, too.

Roll the dice!

I was at the TAPPS volleyball tourney held in San Antonio in early November. During our 4A final fans from San Antonio Antonian Prep started coming in all around the Parish fans and saving seats and being very rude. After several fans asked to come into our area I stood up and told them they could wait until our final was over and they could have that area then. We had waited until Austin Regents had cleared the area before getting our seats. I realize they had alot of fans but some of their behavior was ridiculious.

During the Arlington game, a self-righteous individual showed up in front of us to some saved seats just before game time and proceeded to announce to everyone around us that he could take those seats if he wanted. He went on and on about his 'rights'. At first we agreed with him and just nodded as he ranted. Eventually we asked him to shutup. Even his family was trying to pull him away. Finally, we asked him to leave and I even helped him up the stairs a bit! He ended up sitting about 5 rows higher. Wow! Kind of reminds you of the guy who will drive 5 miles under the speed limit in the left lane just because he has 'the right to'.

As for security, I was 'lucky' enough to have some 'gentleman' just walk right past me and proceed to try and sit in my wife's seat. She was downstairs. I asked him what the problem was and he proceeded to call me every name I have ever heard in Spanish. I pushed. He pushed and with the help of about 20 'referees' the gentleman decided to take his business further up the stadium. There was an off-duty officer about 6 feet away and several others rounded up the cops and the gentleman was escorted out of the stadium. I have never been so close to smacking someone since my high school days! What was sad is that there was one extra seat available that he could have had if he just acted nicely instead being a bully and an a**.
I'm not picking sides in this argument. I usually save 2-3 seats for friends (or they save for me and my wife). I will give up any extras if you ask nicely or I will stand firm if you are a jerk.

Class does make a difference.

Based on what an official at the Alamodome just told me, you won't have an opportunity to save a seat unless it's in the END ZONE. I just posted this in the Alamodome thread:

I just called the Alamodome. This is a direct statement from them:

If you purchase a ticket through Ticketmaster or at the Alamodome Ticket Office on the day of the game, it will be END ZONE SEATING ONLY. There is apparently a difference in the tickets, and they will have ushers checking the tickets for validation. Also, these tickets will have GENERAL ADMISSION stamped on them.

They say if you purchase tickets at the respective schools, they will have assigned numbered/reserved seats on them. The person didn't tell me how they would handle the scenario if let's say an Austin Westlake fan wanted to stay for the Division 2 game, and they had the same seat as a Katy fan. They also had no answer for me with the scenario of say Abilene only brought 3000 fans, and half their side of the stadium was empty, and I walked up and bought a ticket at the Alamodome window and wanted to sit on their side in one of the many empty seats. I guess in these two scenarios, you'll have to speak to an Alamodome rep when you arrive at the stadium.

Bottom line, if you want to guarantee a decent seat to this game, I'd suggest you go by your respective schools and buy tickets.

I have mine and they say General Admission on them. If you want reserved seat you pay extra like $18 each vs the $12 the school is selling them for, but that's not where I want to be,,, I'm sharpening my elbows up for the seats I want:)

I went to the Trinity game this past weekend and made my way to the top where there were 6 chairs open on the aisle and me and my buddy started sitting down when someone farther in told me they were saved. It pissed me off because I wanted a seat back chair and those were the only ones left. Not wanting to start a scene i sat in the general admission seating right next to him. Guess what not one person sat in those seats the ENTIRE GAME. Next time I am just going to sit down and not worry about. Lesson learned.

Katy is the worst at seat saving! I've seen Katy fans with yellow caution tape saving entire areas of 50+ seats. Couple of years ago, Katy was second game and Katy fans were actually staging themselves in the aisles by the end of the 3rd quarter to squeeze into the middle sections.

Well you must consider that every school has like 500 rabid fans that show up 2 hrs plus before the game. Now take into consideration that Katy has 5000+ of fans that will be there very early

At least Katy fills the seats they save. They travel as good if not better than any school I have seen. Trinity and Abilene are no slouches either. And as I remember, Westlake filled there side against Carroll. Like I said on another thread it is a good thing I like end zone seats.

Now you've gone and started something. That's a whole discussion in itself: the tradition of the pregame seat grab. Some make it look like an artform others have it downright to a science....throw down a coat, poncho, bleacher chair, blanket, bulletin, hold "that stance" or sometimes even a gentle elbow. Occupied space is 100% of the law.

Most times you can strike up a conversation with other's teams' fans as one game ends and the other begins. Most go home or let the playing team have seat. It's your own fans; say 'family' like ...there are 6 kids, four chairs around the table and everyone is stark Very hungry. You're on your own.

I am with you 0316....end zone seats between the posts with binocs......perfect!

I tried that at Cowboys Stadium for the SLC and Allen game.
The goalpost net drove me nuts. I think Jerry got a good deal on a fishing net. It would have been nice if they raised it up when needed and then lowered it back down.
I had to move but they opened up the third level so i ended up there. Real good view from up there..

12-15,000.....

I think they will be coming out of the woodwork for this game. The Abilene High ticket office said they have gotten calls from 3 different states about tickets. I would like to say that 15K would be conservative but who knows...???

You can not teach class to people....
Again this only applies to people saving 10 seats or more...

Interestng, so God is on your side, but you LIE to get them kicked out and then preach about teaching CLASS to people when you yourself are beyond CLASSLESS for telling a LIE to get what you want. Sounds like a spoiled little baby to me

Thats just not a Katy thing. Carroll fans are horrible about that too. Carroll fans will interupt you while your game is going on to ask if you are leaving after the game, they then move down the row and aks everybody sitting there while blocking your view from watching the game. They hog the entire stairwell and make it a very hard thing to get out of your row and up the stairs to exit the stadium. Once they see somebody get up they immidiately move into the row and making it very difficult for you to exit the row. I hate it and have voiced my dislike for his many times to their face. Wiat until the damn game is over and then move in once everybod that is leaving has left

If you even so much as look like you're thinking of sitting in one, God help you.

does that make it right?

If some of the Trojans mothers wanted to sit there those guys from abilene better think twice

I in no way condone what I have seen some of the Abilene fans do. Floyd Casey was even worse. These jokers had almost two rows with only three people saving them at first. They were on their cells calling their friends already seated telling them to come on down, sit with us, we have great seats, etc.

I will state that the Alamodome ushers will not allow some of these 'hijinks' that are being stated in this thread. They keep all aisles cleared during the game, and I guarantee you they won't let people stand around in the aisles midway through the 3rd quarter, or any part of the game for that matter. During one of our games this year, I tried to cut through an open handicap area before the second quarter finished to go down to the field with the band. Usher said, "Sorry, you have to go around", and pointed to the exit. I also saw them tell several people who were trying to save seats around the 50 yard line before the game to pick up their stuff from the seats. They even went as far as telling some fans that had clothes on for the next game's team that they couldn't sit down between the 30's until at least the 4th quarter, IF seating was available.

Try some of this stuff you're talking about if you want, but if they see any disturbances or outbreaks due to fighting over seating, they WILL kick you out. I've witnessed it first hand on many occassions at open seating events at the Dome.

At the SP / Trinity game, some of our fans put cards on the seats with names on them to save them. I walked over to a seat that had the name Pete on it and started to sit down. A lady said, excuse me, these seats are saved. I told her, I know, this one has my name on it, thanks. Then my wife grabbed my arm and I got led away like the trained puppy that I am.

A whole bunch of Trinity Fans are staying for the Abilene Game, so we will help contribute to the fan base. And yes, we will move after Trinity does the HAKA and leave the seats for the Eagle fans. Last year, I would stay at my seat on the 50 yard line at Texas Stadium until I saw someone who looked like a football Mom and give up my seat to her and her crew. That is what I do as a courtesy anyway. Sure, my money is as green as everyone elses, but I let the best seats go to the fans of the specific teams. Last two state games I sat in the end zone and then around the 20 @ Reliant (plenty of room). I know others feel differently however.

You're lucky RWilleby is saving you a seat. I was going to save you a seat but from the other seats I'm saving yours would make a row. Sorry. You're the odd man out. :D

not entirely true.

Sometimes for Katy games I show up to the gate 3 hrs+ before A game and am one of the first in line. I get into the stadium and run to my seats and save about 5. My freinds get there 1.5 hrs before the game( the time the gate opens) but can not make it through the ticket lines and to a seat until 1 hr before game. are they not on time?

yes and no, yes because they are indeed earlier than kickoff time. As Reckless Kelly would say, SFP(Sorry for Partying)

I saw what you said earlier in the thread which is what prompted my response. I saw you get real sarcastic with it which I can and do appreciate. I just wanted to point out that whie Katy fans were getting hammered for what they do that they are not alone in that act.
As for the behavior yes it is not exlusive to just Southlake but of all the teams that were playing that day they were far and away the worst.

As for the comment you made of "unlike RR" It has nothing to do with being done or not being doen with you all. I just made a comment about what I have observed.

I guess I could have lied and come back with something like this.

Man that is the exact opposite of what I and others experienced with the Carroll fans this year. Those guys all stayed in the endzone plazas and kept the asiles and sections clear until the Trinity game was over. They waited until all the Trinity fans had left the seating areas before they moved in. It made for such an easy transition between games and the best part was that not a single fans interrupted us or other fans while we watched the game. Kudos to thos fans, the best part was when this extremely nice woman came up to where we were sitting and asked, are you all leving and when we said not, she replied that's ok, you all are a real team and play real football as she walked away to go find another seat.
