View Full Version : Div 1 5A State Final Trinity vs Westlake . . . Questions?
1. Why does this game have to be played in San Antonio, when Waco is more central to both teams? Is there a choice or was it pre-determined? In that case why not thje new Cowboy Stadium for the biggest game in Texas HS football.
2. Who will be underdog, as if it really matters but Trinity plays with extra gusto and stuff if they are. For whatever it's worth let's hope the pundents make them the underdog and especially the geniuses in Las Vegas. If theyhad a brain they wouldn't be doing what they're doing in Las Vegas!!
3. Tell me all about Westlake, so we can soak it all up and beat them when they're so good and we're not supposed to.
Last comment, not a question, as I've said many times here. Trinity as gotten better every game they've played all year, save a one or two, but still won'em and without the 4 15 yeard penalties today which two really hurt the trojans the spread have been more like 17 to 20 points Trinity's favor.
All in all, if Trinity has there way and they usually do, I just can't see them getting beat . . . but I could be wrong. :rolleyes: ;)

yeah and all the stony point mishaps, including that false start on 4th and goal, definitely didn't have any factor in putting the game into overtime.
blah blah blah "would have" and reality won't ever meet. all and all, good game.

The site was pre-determined before the season started. The game would have been in the death star, but Jerry decided to host a college basketball game instead.
The UIL has voted to hold ALL the championship games (6-man through 5A) at a single site next year and it looks like that site will be the Alamodome.

1a-There is a college basketball game at Cowboy Stadium 12/19. Jerry's decision.

I've read lots of posts saying that whoever won the Trinity-SP game was going to win state. Trinity is too big, too fast, too well-coached. Trinity is going to roll Westlake is this game. Westlake hasn't played against any teams that have the talent of Trinity. Trinity wins 170 to -9, I don't know how Westlake will get -9 points but Trinity is just THAT good. They are more legendary than Da Bears, they have mini Mike Ditkas up and down the sidelines. I guess Westlake better not show up, just crown Trinity champs now. R4 sux, they're overrated, they never produce good teams. They only way they make it to state is because they play valley teams. Westlake is a bunch of white boys, they have no speed. <- Did I miss anything;)

I'm sure there will be a lot of smack talk, but don't let anyone negate that Westlake is in the state finals. Nobody can take that away from y'all.

Win or lose, I'm very proud of this Westlake team. Making it to the championship in Darren Allman's first year is just amazing. IMO Westlake has vastly overachieved especially on defense. And if Westlake does lose to Trinity, it couldn't have happen against a better program. Not real often. I remember it was about 1966 or '67 Airline High School in Bossier City, La. won the AAA State Championship in their second year of existence. They were 0-10 the previous season. At that time AAA was the biggest classification in Louisiana.
Obviously the talent has always been there at Westlake. They've just been needing that little nudge.:notworthy Allman may be the guy...hopefully next year!!!;)

2. I would be highly surprised if Westlake is not considered the "underdog."
3. Having said that, i haven't heard anyone say that Westlake is "so good" and "not supposed to" lose to y'all. We have strengths and weaknesses just like any other team. And yes, you could indeed be wrong. As every one always says, there's a reason they play the games.
If they sell either manners or class at your local wal-mart, you should consider getting some.

I don't see how. I've been on 5atex for about 10 or 15 minutes since the win against Cinco Ranch and i've already seen tons of posts about how we're doomed to a heartbreaking and devastating loss. Much of the same as he said... too much size and skill, etc... there's no way we can win... blah blah blah...
But thank you for actually giving us some credit. That's not to say you're the only one, but certainly one of few.

He isn't selling any. Take a look around on the Trinity vs. Westlake game threads. Or the one declaring who will be the two 5A state champions. And I'm not impressed that the DMN picked StP to win, even if it was 11-12. The Austin American Statesman loves to pick against Westlake.

What? That's 7 or 8 games in the 2nd weekend. Both 5A's, both 4A's and Div I for 1A-3A, (not sure about 6man Div I. They'll have to start on Thursday.

Actually I think it will done over 2 weekends, but all in the same city.
I know I read they were still try to indentify a filed for 6 man, so that wouldn't be the Alamodome.
Seems to me like you could host 1a -3a one weekend and 4a and 5a the next weekend.
I'm pretty sure that the UIL hopes they'll be able to get FSN to cover the 4A games as well as the 5A if they are at the same site on the same weekend.

Trinity will have to much strength and speed for westlake to handle, westlake has not seen a team with this much speed over all.
