Hats off to the Unicorns. Not knowing the official stats, I'd say they beat Katy in almost all except for the scoreboard. I'll take a big heaping of crow because I said that Katy would roll. Katy only made one offensive touchdown and I'd say the fewest first downs that I can remember.
Great job Unicorns! You came to play and gave Katy more than they wanted.

I've heard the stats and no Katy won the stats in all category's. I didn't copy them down or I would put them up...
You wouldn't have known it from listening to the game.

You wouldn't have known it from listening to the game.I didn't know it from watching Haack on his back and Hurtado doing all that punting. If we did great. The Unicorns surprised me and I bet a few others too.

Oh no...don't get me wrong. We didn't do great, we just did enough...:(
The Unicorns have a hell of a team. Few lucky breaks and we would be talking a different game.

Barely a win is still a win... NB was a tough team for us today and we are very fortunate to be playing next week... My hats off to NB on a great run and a hard fought game...
NB, you have a really good team and you left it all on the field. Gave Katy all they could handle. Great game on both sides. NB defense is really good and all they were advertised to be. Haak on is back will be long remembered by all the Katy faithful!

I'll take my crow with a side of humble pie please.
i predicted katy to roll this one 45-17 and you guys made me look foolish. NB was for real. The O could move the ball consistently and their D was phenominal. No real studs but easily one of the best TEAMS i have seen.
Congrats on the win to Katy, but congrats to NB. You guys were amazing, come back next year.
Also, one of the classiest groups of fans i have seen. All heart, nice people, even congratulated us on the walk out which i rarely see happen.

NB folks were very gracious. Even the band parents came over to say good luck next week.
See you next year!

what game where you watching?
The one where NB needed to start at the Katy 35 or closer just to get a field goal. Honestly, if we'd been them, and they'd been us, would you be saying, "we moved the ball consistently"?
They were a great TEAM, though.

theres a difference between moving the ball and scoring. youre dead on with their field goal. if instead of field goals they had scored, would you still say they werent moving it?

Just got home from game...Gotta hand it to the "D" on both sides. Was the best game i have seen all season. Very easy could have been a win for either team. Now lets represent from the right side of bracket and support the other in SA against Abilene. Got to admit you guys are huge and the fan base was nice to see from both sides. I am one of those band parents and have to say with "pride" they was loud and proud and our 12th man on the field . :Music

Thanks again to NB for playing so well. :notworthy

The game was a classic defensive battle. I think North Shore's defense was tougher. The NB defense came to play and should be commended. Katy's D didn't allow a TD. That's also worth mentioning.

In retrospect, I think you'd have to say Katy played very well. Against a very good team. Their pressure on Katy's QB was outstanding. Katy's rushing was not flashy, but effective. Sam Holl is a stud. So are both teams linebackers. Very impressed with NB.

I am not sure KTcarl. I can see why you are saying that North Shore's defense was better. But remember....
New Braunfels brought it in December, in a state semi-final. North Shore in August.

A lot of Katy folk "Believe in fairy tales" more so now I would think. Yup I saw the sign. ;) No, but it was a fun game to watch if your a HS football fan like myself. And it was probably Hell to watch if you were a Unicorn or Tiger as well. I was very suprised by NB's game play. I wasn't expecting them to play that tough. They sure were putting pressure on Katy's QB. Katy didn't play too bad of a game either. I like how they put Jeffrey in the first drive and saw he couldn't run and then went to the beast DY to take control of the game. He had a great drive but was forgotten when he fumbled at the 6yd line. But he was running boys over easily in that drive and I was impressed. Good luck to the Tigers at state next week. I'll be watching on TV here at the house.
And by the way I was looking for some of the 5A members from Katy in the parking lot, and couldn't find you guys. Where were ya'll hiding? I got to the stadium about noon. I was gonna sit on Katy's side but I went to find those seats with the backs on them and could only find some at the 10,20, and by the band. So I walked to NB's side.

Are you referencing New Braunfels' fans? I was way up in the crowd, so that was out of sight?
If so, the Uni's just rose to the top in the polls in my ranking! They don't have to do that; and I won't address what was perhaps their emotional state after losing a big game. Been there, and that is for their team and their team only to deal with.
All I will say is that they sure were a very tough opponent.:notworthy

I don't care WHEN they brought it. The team had to face it nevertheless. Whether it's good D in December or good D in August it's still good D.
And B-T-W, I thought Katy gave NB all they could handle too.
