It is somewhat sad. You are always happy to see the kids get recognition but come on. The way I look at it, those that won the supleratives were not eligible for 1st or 2nd team. Hayden Hawk from Coppell won offensive player of the year and that left Grimes as teh only QB not selected to a MVP or 1st team position. Truly pathetic. Lets just all start handing out ribbons and everything else now.
For the love of Pete get it back to 1 QB, 2 RB, 3-4WR, 5 OL and your MVPs. Same with defense.

Without a doubt. McBride is the answer Coppell has been looking for. I have always said that Coppell is just another version of Allen. With the right man there they can and will do big things in their football program. I look for them to be even better next year :eek:

That is how it was explained to me, the coaches all get together and vote. Has it always had that many? I don't remember the list being that long before?

Yes, the coaches have always voted for the selections as long as I can remember. But I have never seen a list this long either. That's why I started it like I did.

Oh Doc, I am not upset with you at all. It just seems they have taken this honor and given to everyone. All of these kids played very hard this year and are deserving of recognition but it seems they have watered down the prestige. IMO. Never at you;)

I guess we should have taken heed when the 8-5A "Mega" all district list came out!! :)

In all seriousness, I never would have expected this from 6-5A.

6-5A has a total of 17,593.50 reported enrollment for 6 schools leading to an average of 2932.25 for each school.

8-5A has a total of 27,211 reported enrollment for 7 schools leading to an average of 3,887.29 for each school.

Because of the historical success of programs like Carroll we know that the enrollment numbers alone do not lead to a causal relationship with program success.

A person might have a chance at arguing that a district with 10,000 more students would have some larger number of legitimate "All District" kids when compared to a much smaller district.

This unfortunately does not pass the smell test for either district. They are dolling out pablum for the masses and taking what otherwise would have been a prestigious award, marking the heights of High School achievement and reducing it to a mediocre state.

Mark this season down in the annels of Texas High School football history as the death of supperlative and the adoption of mediocrity.:o:(

Congrats to ALL of those selected, however, this list is virtually meaningless. The district coaches should be embarrassed. The MVPs deserve all the credit. 4 1st team QBs in a 6 team district??????????????? Weak.

And that's after Hawk was named offensive MVP. So 5 out of 6 were 1st team or better. and the other starting QB made second team. To Greenday's point, only 27 out of 144 (including kickers and punters) didn't get chosen. The PC police have even crept into Friday night lights.:(:(

I thought 8-5A was screwed naming so many players. 4 our of 6 QB's first team( well actually 5 since Hawk was offensive MVP). This is just wrong. I guess it helps those that were not deserving but really waters it down for those that did.
I guess if you play a certain number of downs now you get to be all district.

So happy to see this as the first reply to the listing. Seriously, it's a 6 team district. We send four of them to the playoffs. Now four of them can say they were first team quarterback? Folks, kids won't shatter when the get disappointed or slighted. They might even learn a valuable lesson or three for later in life. Wow.
