Here's the release on the story. Lee is back in 265a and SV stays as well. My son said that track practice was cancelled today because the coaches had to get together. Maybe it's for the bye week selections?

Supposedly they're drawing cards out of a hat.....I'd rather have three 'preseason' games as opposed to two....can't we just ship SV out?

I'm just guessing but I think Mac's game against Seguin is now "Dust in the Wind". It would have been a great final non-district game before 265a started.

I wonder who Reagan will play....if we're gonna play in that district, I'll support a cupcake schedule...

I said the same thing about Del Rio in our District, They hardly ever contend with anybody, at least in the last 8-10 years, I think they should have put them in the Corpus district or somewhere besides 28 5.

So much more cupcakes.....but it should be at Comalander though....cause last year it was at Farris, then the Football Classic so we should be at home...it'd be a good barometer to see how both teams will be for next year...

Yeah, that should be an easy first game for OC, I wish they would have played them last year, too, but I can live with the 41- 14 beating OC gave reagan the first time they played. Hopefully it will be closer this next season if they play.

LOL, sorry bud, but it'll be different than that go-around. Different team with a different attitude.

This coming from a team that got spanked by Boerne 40+ - 14 and lost to Madison and Judson. O'Conner will be better and so will Reagan. Should be a good game but not a blow out for either team.

I am betting so, too. That is a major bummer... I was really looking forward to that game ... I wonder who we will add? I bet we will be forced to add some sort of cupcake team because all of the good teams games will be taken up.

I think Seguin will be good this year. We know the D will be. It's the offense that has to take the next step. If they don't, then getting to the playoffs might be harder then you think. Your district is much deeper then last year and getting a playoff spot won't be a walk in the park.

Maybe you should check your stats, we lost to Boerne by 24 points in week 2 (score 38-14) and to Madsion by 4 (21-17), which isn't bad against a Boerne team that returned the majority of their starters on Defense and Offense w/ OC that returned 4 total starters from the previous year, and losing to the State Runner up by 2 points (30- 28), so now that we are returning 17 starters, this season is going to be a shocker for the rest of San Antonio. :D

I haven't seen Seguin play, but I'm going to make it a point to get out there and see a game this season, so I can see what Seguin is always talking about.

I think we open up the season with Madison the first game of the year at the dome... not 100% sure but that is what I have heard... come check it out and let me know what you think... Hell, if you need a breakdown of the game, we can have a good old fashion meet up and watchthe game together.

I'm just giving you a few digs. :p O'Conner is going to be a good team. Maybe a team that could upset 265a in the playoffs.....but I doubt it. :) That Boerne team was the same team MacArthur spanked in Boerne and Mac couldn't even get into the playoffs.
On the Judson game......you guy's blew it. You had Judson on the ropes and went with a slant instead of staying with what was working. O'Conner is in the same situation as the rest of 265a....until Reagan,Mac or O'Conner can beat the big boys they are still 2nd tier teams. Good solid teams but 2nd tier.

The offense should be better. We are returning our QB who got most of the snaps.... 3 of our 5 O lineman... a 1000 yard rusher... and our hands down best reciever... It wont be great... but it will be improved.

Point well taken, And I'm still pissed about the call for that damn slant  I was just in shock that the play was called, changed at the huttle or audibled to! MAC did spank boerne, but when you have 17 NEW and Young starters mistakes are going to happen, it just looked THAT bad because they dod so "good" against a valley team in week 0, If we would have played reagan last year they (OC) would have struggled.

If is a shock to someone, then they don't know crap about HS football anyway. OC will be the team to beat this coming season in R-4. The only thing that could change that is if injuries totally dismantle the team! SA O'CONNER WILL MAKE IT TO AT LEAST THE STATE SEMI-FINAL ROUND!

Thanks! Injuries hopefully won't plague the team this season, and I hope OC does make it that far, and I'm ready for the whole ride! What district did Clemens go into after going 4A, I haven't checked into that yet, and is the district going to be tuff?

It's possible....You won't have to play SV so that's a plus. If you think you should be rated higher then SV right now I would disagree. SV is #1 in SA right now and will be until someone proves differently. Everone thinks they are having to rebuild but that isn't the case. They are loaded with talent and they just reload. No one remembers that the players that are coming into varsity or the soph's that played last year were the same players that went undefeated as 8th and 9th graders. This kids have played together for 4-6 years and some have played their same positions for that long as well. When they move into varsity they aren't learning anything knew, they're just fine tuning it. They will now be the anchors on a team that brings back plenty of talent. SV will be what Judson has been for quite some time or as close to it as possible(it might be a long time before we see a Judson run again). They still have to win a championship. O'Conner will be good but will not be better then SV. Those are the facts. Period! :)

I believe it is 26-4a. NB, NB Canyon, Clemens, Steele, Lockhart, Del Valle, Hays Cons, and Lehman. Should be a pretty strong district right away and even stronger in a couple of years when Steele and Lehman have a chance to mature!

Have you ever looked at a map of the state of Texas?
Del Rio and Corpus Christi are NOWHERE near each other. They are on separate sides of the state. Del Rio is on the Rio Grande. It's closer to Big Bend then Corpus.
The current setup makes the most sense.
The only option would have been to shift Smithson Valley to the Corpus Christi district, giving them an 8-team district.

Does it really matter what district Del Rio plays in? They even get spanked by Uvalde every year in non-district! I say just leave them with the NS district so they can all schedule them for home coming!:D

Yep, it may be awhile for Judson makes it to semifinals, probably in about a year or two. By then, Wagner will be close to doing the same. At least Wagner will win one district game, but they could win 2-3 this year.

Hey gopher, Churchill found a way to beat SV last year and Judson so why do you think OC wouldn't have a chance? If the OC kids can keep their heads on straight and work their tails off the next 8 months, then I say look out to the rest of 5a in SA for 2006! It's pretty easy to imagine when they did as well as the did this year with all of those young players.

Like I said, it could happen.....but I doubt it. Of the teams in your district, O'Conner is the team that could knock off SV but I don't think the 2 teams can play each other with the enrollment numbers? O'Conner will be in the top 5 all year long until the Jay game and then we'll see. Once the playoffs start, O'Conner can prove what they have then. You still need to understand one thing, O'Conner gave Judson (the 3rd best team in 265a) a battle. They are not on the same level as SV. Not last year and not now.

I think that Churchill might take this district next year. They have some good returning starters and they did beat both SV and Judson last year. My picks for the playoffs at this time are:
Churchill
SV
Judson
Madison
Followed by
Reagan
Mac
Roosevelt
Wagner
Lee

I guess what we would need to do is look at the teams from this year and see which one's are going to improve and which one's will decline.
SV will be just as good or better. I think better
Madison is going to drop a bit. Caflish knows how to win and will be hard to replace.
Judson will be solid but will lose some depth and talent.
Reagan will be improved all around but must fill Greg Jones's void. Again not an easy thing to do
Churchill will be better but can Finuzzi stay healthy? Only if he realizes he's a QB that can beat you with his arm and stops trying to be a LB when running with the ball. Can you say slide!!!
MacArthur will be better. Schmid runs the offense the way it's suppose to be done.
Roosevelt will be better. Very young team with a new HC. Now can they stay out of trouble.
Lee is what it is. They'll play very hard but don't have the overall team talent or depth
Wagner is the new kid on the block. Some good young talent but no depth and first year together.
Can Wagner beat SV....no
Can Wagner beat Madison.....??? but doubt it
Can Wagner beat Judson....not this year
Can Wagner beat Reagan.....no again
Can Wagner beat Churchill....only if Finuzzi goes down....I say no
Can Wagner beat MacArthur.....not this year either
Can Wagner beat Roosevelt....sure they can
Can Wagner beat Lee....that's 2 wins.
So there you go.....2 wins in district and maybe a 3rd if they stay healthy and someone else doesn't. I know some of you want to see them jump right into the fire and win now but sorry it just doesn't work that way and it won't be any different in 265a. Especially in 265a. Three years from now and I like their chances.
I say 3 district wins because someone will lose players due to injury/grades and coaching that Wagner will have.
