With every championship game there are going to be questionable calls. in fact with any and every game there are going to be mistakes. its going to happen, its unavoidable.

when the holding penalty came against locklear the lineman, wiping out a pass to the one yard line, it looked like holding to the naked eye, which is what the refs see with. the way the defender fell to the ground appeared to make it look like a hold. while it turned out it wasnt a good call, it could not be overturned.

big bens td run looked like it crossed the plane while he was in midair, not when he hit the ground. but if the ball crosses the plane at ANY time, it is a td. some may say "no way that was a td" but for a ref to overturn a call, he has to be INDISPUTABLE EVIDENCE, and with the camera angles he was dealing with, no one could overturn that call.

and on darrell jackson's pushoff of the defender, the refs did call it right. the receiver cant make contact with defender after an "x" amount of yards, and he was beyond that point. while it wasnt a big push, it was nevertheless used to create seperation.

oh and for all you people who like to "forget" things that went in your favor well... you might recall the play when a pass to seattles tight end stevens, it was ruled incomplete. on replay it showed it was a catch, and the steelers would have recovered the loose ball. that could have led to a steelers td, which would wipe away some of the controversy.

and so my point is, dont blame the refs for everything, they cant help they dont have the best angles on replays. yes, mistakes are going to happen, but a lot more could be blamed on the players.

Good job man. Everyone is still going to see it different though. At least there wasn't anything REALLY bad like Troy's pick being reversed. The ball came out before his knee was off the ground, wtf is that?

Amen!! I forgot all about that call? I cannot imagine trying to make those type of close calls with the naked eye with the speed of the NFL. It was hard enough to try and see when you slowed it down and watch some of those plays the other night over and over.

Excellent call yankeeman, I saw the game the same way. If Stevens doesn't fumble the ball and not drop two more passes the game would have probably had a different outcome. The players ultimately decided the outcome of the game.

That was a good job Yankee. Other than the indisputable fact these refs simply did a lousy job - my No. 1 complaint is the refs had TOO MUCH bearing on the game's outcome.

Refs today call what they THINK they see - and they appear to love being in the middle of the mix. Keep your stinkin' flag in your pants. If they had simply done that - you'd have no real issue here.

The Big Ben td you can live with to some degree - a close call. The penalties that weren't - THAT is the huge issue. Regardless of what biased fans think - we unbiased folks that had no dog in the hunt know the refs were so bad in this game because they wrongly flagged huge plays - they HAD a bearing on the game. How much? Who knows - that is only speculation - which is what the bad calls were - speculation that they saw holding, pass interference, etc.

BTW - we've competeley forgotten about the late first half TD pass to Jackson. His left foot was in - his right foot kicked the pylon. I never heard why that wasn't a TD - and ABC cut to a Stones promo - failing to show the play more than twice. Man, this game sucked all the way around.

Did it occur to all you "experts" that the so-called pass interference in the end zone, changed the dynamic of the game? Perhaps, events would have transpired differently if Seattle had scored that touchdown. Interesting isn't it, how the bad calls of one or two referees change the outcome (and betting point spread) in any sporting contest. Follow the money, mate..

Seems like you think you are the true expert. Go ahead!, make our day.

On 2nd thought, the game is over and i am tired of discussing it. We have debated every single call including the one you are talking about. Either way the Steelers are SB champs. My team won and i hit the point spread. ;)
