Tirico is great, I like him.
Kornheiser, does he have ANY game experience? Thought he was just a talking head.
Theisman? Puke....seriously, like puke all over myself at the bar while talking to the hottest girl there kinda puke.

First of all...I refuse to pronounce it as "Theis'man"....I say it the way his Daddy said it..."Theezman"
And what an enormous douchepump that guy is...OMG...whatever happened to ......................If you become an announcer you have to remain unbiased?????
Troy Aikman does it....Moose Johnston does it....Why the hell can't Theezman do it?
He actually said on the radio before the Super Bowl......"Change one or two plays......and it should be Washington vs. Pittsburgh today"

Dude shut up!
So now we have Kornheiser and Theezman???
WTF?
Kornheiser is a beat writer in Washington D.C. and Theezman played for the 'Skins.....Oh this should be really cool to watch when the 'Skins play:cool:
I will do like I have been doing for the past 10 years or so....turn the volume down on the TV...and turn up the radio.

Tirico is awesome. That dude freaks out and sounds like he is about to have a heart attack after every somewhat big play. He's exciting which will be new to the NFL, but I like his college work.
I don't really have an opinion about Theisman. I am of the opinion (I know I am one of just a few) who thought the Sunday Night Football crew of Theisman, Mike Patrick and Paul Maquire was the single best announcing/color crew in any sport at any level. I didn't care how bad the teams were or how much I didn't care about the game, I could watch Sunday night football just for those guys.
As for Kornheiser, I'm interested to see how he works out. He's one of the nation's best sports writers and his old show on ESPN radio was the single best radio show ever. PTI is also cool, but I don't know how he will do with live games. He doesn't seem to fit the mold if you ask me.
By the title, I thought this thread was about the Pro Bowl.

I think that the new Monday Night Football crew is not that bad at all. I like Tirico's play by play because when he gets excited on a big play, it sounds like he is going to pass out. I like Theismann as an analyst. He has been good in the booth during the Sunday Night games. I am not sure about Kornheiser. I watch PTI almost everyday and his voice gets annoying but he is still funny. I like it when he makes fun of Michael Wilbon on the show. It will be interesting to see him doing play by play. I like Tafoya and Kolber doing the sideline reports. I think this will be a very good Monday Night Football crew and I can't wait for the season to start.

I agree with you on Tirico. The way he called the end of the Michigan vs. Nebraska bowl game was great. I think he can do a fantastic job.
Theisman may be the worst commentator out there. I could not stand him when he was calling a game or when he was giving interviews.
Kornheiser is a relative unknown and I think that he may or may not work out. I feel that is act is going to run out fairly quick I'm afraid.
Today on the Dan Patrick radio show, they had Kornheiser on and he said it was going to fail miserably. They did this bit where Dan Patrick was the play-by-play and Olberman played the Theisman character and Tony played himself. Dan talked about an incomplete pass and Olberman immediately said something like oh I could have done much better than that. He did not lead the receiver well enough. Tony comes back with Joe do you remember the time that your leg was snapped in half in two places and there was blood all over the field. That was MNF wasn't it. That was really cool. If Kornheiser is going to say stuff like that it may be cool.

jtk and i agree on something. i love that crew for some reason. maguire could be a total idiot, but his goofiness was attractive. mike patrick just has a great voice for calling games
tirico is a "screamer", meaning he gets excited on every big play, but other than that i think he's great and very accurate in what he does

I heard the Dan Patrick interview too...
Hilarious...I hope Kornheiser and Theezman get into it every week.
Of course I won't hear it...I'll be listening to the radio.

Pardon the interuption loud mouth Kornheezer...ABC has lost their great focus that they used to have, like when they had the mouth from NY...Howard Cosell, which was never biased for the east coast teams:rolleyes: !

Hey, don't go hatin' on Joey T!
I thought the Sunday Night Crew was one of the better ones and I was glad to see they did the Washington Wild Card game. I was also quite surprised to see Kornheiser get in, but I think he'll do pretty good.
As for Aikman not being biased....there's still some bias there. Not a lot but there's a little. And I don't hold it against him or anyone else, you play for a team they'll eventually grow onto you.

I think Mike Patrick is an idiot, but I've listened to his college hoops calls with Dick Vitale. Maybe I should give him a pass for enduring Dookie V.
For football, I'd much rather have Tirico as an announcer.
Kornheiser's agent must be freaking brilliant because I seriously doubt the dude has ever been near a football.
Theismann offers no game insight at all in my opinion. I'd much rather have Ron Jaworski as a color man because he actually knows something about the game.
I think the ESPN team for Monday night should be-
Booth- Tirico, Jaworski
Sideline- Kolber
For ESPN college football-
Ron Franklin...and no one else

I like Kornheiser on PTI - not sure how he'll be as an announcer though. I'm going to miss Al "do you believe in miracles" Michaels though - he's one of the best! He's up there with my other two fave sports announcers - Keith Jackson and Jim McKay.

you have to admit though that Keith Jackson is way past his prime.

Michaels was let out of his contract because he didn't agree with how the program would be done. This should surprise nobody, as his style is straight foreward with the focus on the game. It seems that ESPN's philosophy makes the announcers the stars with the players secondary. Al is one of my favorites and his problem with the network's forum is understandable.

So is Jim McKay but they are still on my all time fave list - my personal Hall of Fame of announcers so to speak!

Not once you become an announcer.............YOU CANNOT BE BIASED...
It's the rule...Nobody wants to hear about your glory days...and what you think YOUR team needs to do in order to return to those glory days.
Aikman does not do that.
Theezman freakin' picked the 'Skins to go to the Super Bowl......ON AIR....more than once.
You can't do that.

Did you not watch the Dallas-Washington game? Aikman and Buck were practically have a orgy just talking about the Cowboys. The one good thing he said about Washington was Gregg Williams and how good it was that Dan Snyder resigned him....
Did you also see Theisman's weekly predictions? He picked against the 'Skins almost every week. Now, I'm a firm believer of "whats happened, has happened" but for every team in every game if a few plays went their way, then it'd be different, but that doesn't matter.

I love how he breaks every play down and it looks alot easier for people who don't understand what strategies each team is using to stop the opposing team in their game.

I thought Aikman went out of his way to show he wasn't biased. he railed on the 'boys saying how the line has sucked and some of the players aren't dedicated enough to win. I was like, " wow!"
Personally, i HATED theisman as a player, but i like him OK as an announcer. I like Paul McGuire too. I also like Jaws and his analysis.

I would like to take this time to apologize to Joe Theisman.
If you chose to change your name...I can accept that. And I am
terribly sorry about what Lawrence Taylor did to your leg. OUCH...
That is painful to watch. Sorry Joey...I hope you can forgive me.
You have a soft spot for your former team...and that is understandable.
I was wrong to judge you...
Sincerely,

He also went out of his way to give plenty of reasons to say the Cowboys would win and gave like on reason for Washington to win.
I thought the Sunday Night crew was the best. Paul McGuire was really just there for comic relief at times while Patrick just covered the game and Theisman gave input every now and then.
