Sorry, but it would seem that you would include the all-time best winning percentage in the 5-A playoffs in your numbers...I'm sure we'll hear all about longevity, etc.

This kind of stat is typically measured by number of wins and not percentage.

Obviously, that's why Carroll is near the top of any overall list because their numbers from 3A and 4A are included.

I've been counting them myself from past year's results over the last few years now. Used some DC back issues for the 80s and earlier 90s.

some now defunct website used to have all these records about coaching records and team win-loss records. i thought maybe it was back operational.

Permian's 5A playoff record is actually 50-10-5, with 3 of those ties coming in games that Permian advanced on the tiebreaker, one of the ties eliminating them and the last tie coming in the 1984 Finals when it actually counted as a tie.

I've got the individual game-by-game scores listed for all programs with more than 50 all-time playoff wins at the link below.

They're only talking about the 5A titles, Booster. 5A started in 1980. Incidentally, OHS played Permian to a 14-14 tie that year. Great football game!

Sure seems Abilene High should be on there - pre-5A days? Lufkin has 4 regional championships in 5 years - which accounts for not much I guess on ths list.

KT2000

Lufkin only started to really pile up 5A playoff wins in '01, so they've got some work to do in order to catch the teams at the top now. Abilene had a 50 year+ hiatus from successful football before this decade.

50 years doesn't seem so long when it's just numbers on a chart:). I certainly didn't expect to see Lufkin on the list - just a nice run of regional finals since 2001 - which is really impressive save for the teams mentioned plus SLC.
