if there is such a thing as good baseball, it'll be on exposition at minute maid park this weekend. uh, tulane, tcu, tu, tt, and rice play a tourney there. gonna make the trip with some of the family. tuna needs to get out of his slump, as he finished the game last night with 3 at bats without a homer(2 walks and a so). dropped his slugging percentage and batting aver 25%. the tu loss to san diego was to d-1aa u of sd. they'll still be a force to reckon with, no doubt.

Is that a NCAA record?

1st three ABs - three homers

If it's not, anybody have a clue what the record is?

I'm sorry, I could not read that. My eyes were covered up by two national championships in the past three years

doesn't change the fact they were swept

Seriously though, USD is a program on the rise in a hotbed state for baseball talent. Not really that big of a diss getting swept by them IMO.

Watched Rice vs. UT Saturday night on the tube..Luna scored in the top of the 9th to put Rice up, only to have another freshman from UT hit a homer in the bottom of the inning to beat the feisty nightbirds...

Just to clarify, there is no such thing as d-1aa in college baseball. 1-aa only applies to football. USD was ranked 34th before the Horns played them and they are ranked 18th this week by Baseball America and have a 5-1 record after two series. No excuse for Texas losing out there but they are a good team.

He was starting LF the Saturday night game. The kid is awesome...to jump out there as a true freshman and start going yard in his first 8 at bats...not easy to do. I look for both Luna and Rice to be solid this summer.

People say his best sport is soccer! Saw him kick a 53 yard field goal in warm-ups once...Crazy good athlete...we were lucky to have him at Carroll...

it takes so much talent for a kid to start like that his true freshman yr at any d1 school for baseball. most guys have to work their way up through juco and then fight for a starting spot, but these guys that make it like that are someone u need to watch. If he keeps it up he's gonna end up makin a name for himself in the big league

Luna will be in the show, I visited my cousin in Southlake & we wound up watching one of his games & man that kid was unreal & he was a pretty damn good shortstop too. Obviously I was impressed with him as a baseball player.

Nope, he is not(shoot if he was he would be a white Jack Tatum-I would teach him to be a headhunteer;) ).

My cousin is Steve Chappelle, he keeps up with SLC as much as Permian so he has it good, he went to Permian when they were in their prime now he is with the 21st Century version of MOJO.

I saw Jack Tatum on TV the other day and he said he felt no remorse for the hit on Darryl Stengley that paralyzed him for life...cold blooded assassin.....Said he had never spoken to him afterward.."just part of the game" he said...

The ironic thing here is Tatum had his leg amputated because of diabetes(which caught my attention since I am diabetic).

Luna is a class act. This past year he visited the Lufkin site every week to talk football and wish us luck (except in week 15). Great maturity. He will be a great one. He's just a few years away from becoming a millionaire in baseball.
