Yes Grapevine nearly upset them as did Plano in the playoffs.

basically..we were cruising through the season..then came along gpvine....they vandalized our school, and they held up to their trash talk..gave us a hell of a game...this game i think was a big part of our season, it made carroll fans and players id imagine, realize anything can happen..i noticed a change in attitude after this game..
plano game, well its the playoffs you should expect a great game, and plano kept us shutdown, till late 3rd, early 4th and they just couldnt keep the dragons down long enough..
our first couple games..were insane..our defense pitched shut outs in the first half of 3 straight games (then starters came out) the offense was on fire as well....dff probally has exact numbers

This year Carroll set a record for most points scored in a season in 5A. The previous record holder was the 2001 Houston Madison team that featured a pretty good quarterback, Vince Young.

Anyone who was at the Grapevine/Carroll game would tell you that the Mustangs did'nt "almost beat the Dragons" it was a good game and Grapevine was playing uphill the whole game and Carroll (Anthony Ford-DB-who will be back next year) intercepted to kill a late drive by the Mustangs..it set the Dragons right as far as taking anyone for granted & the rest is history...

SLC got lucky and somehow squeeked out 16 wins. Seems to me they could have easily gone 8-8. Everything else was a conspiracy.
