Front page of the Express News was Superintendent Middleton talking about how "dishonorable" it was for them to exclude kids from participating and that they would try everything to put them back in 26-5A.

9 team district perhaps? Or could it be possible that they phase out SV and keep JUDSON and Northeast ISDs together?

someone please tell me if i am wrong on this... a few years back when a 5-A program just fell short of enrollment...was an option given to the school to either stay 5-A or elect to move down to 4-A...thanks!!

It's always an option to request up in classification, as the Eagle Pass and Laredo schools do, and the Corpus schools had in the past, but it is also the option of the UIL to allow it or not.

I feel that SV is the odd man out here I do not want the district to go to 9 teams only 2 pre-season games is not good enough. I feel that even though Lee is a NEISD school and since they messed up they should be put into 25-5A for two years, if SV doesn't move.

Schools aren't allowed to sign contracts for football games until Feb. 21, but most have verbal agreements with other schools.



It also muddles the schedules for the original 26-5A teams' nondistrict opponents.

Most teams already made nondistrict dates when last week's realignment was announced and have no open slots.

"Get out the yellow dog (bus) because you're going to be traveling," Boerne coach Tommy Bludau said.

Bludau's Greyhounds were part of Lee's new 4A district, which consisted of Alamo Heights, Fredericksburg, Kerrville Tivy, Memorial and Kennedy.

"We've called Houston, Lubbock, and it's put us in a havoc, especially with as expensive as traveling is," said Bludau, who is looking for replacements for the Lee and Roosevelt spots on his original schedule.

"It puts a big burden on us."

By the way, considering you just somewhat acknowledged that our district was at least somewhat good.... when we run the district (other than Westlake probably)... I don't want to hear the whole... you guys suck you are just in a weak district deal.

What playoff teams have we played in 5a? Really none... we were stuck in a ****** district with 2 playoff teams. We beat SM once and lost to them once. We lost to Clemens twice. SM lost to Clemens twice.

I will admit that our district sucks. No disputing that. This is how I am looking at it.....Judson eventually went to state, and although they were better than us, they weren't overwhelmingly better than us in a game in which we were missing our two best players. On top of that.... we are returning pretty much every good and decent player we had... so I am figuring we will be improved... just by experience and talent.... in every game we lost last year... we were a few plays away from winning it... the experience and talent should help.... This upcoming group of Seniors were Carsons first freshmans... throwing all of that together.... I think we have a really good shot at not only making the playoffs... but competing for the district in our "top heavy district".... anyways, I will be back later... I got to go to the gym. We are all entitled to our own opinions... but that is the way I see it and only time will tell.

AH should again have a pretty good 4a team. SA Roosy, well, who knows??? They started out with a pretty decent team this year but lost 1/3 of their starters to the law! New coach so it's up in the air. They are a very small 5a but have always had a lot of talent to line up with. The problem there has always been a lack of commitment and discipline! Coach Dausin seemed to be the only one so far who was able to get the most out of their kids what with the 95' state title to show for it!

I'm more surprised that Vic Mem has not really dominated like I would have thought after the consolidation. I really thought that they would have rolled after a couple of years of the kids being together. I thought the exact same thing about PA Mem, but hell, their first game after they consolidated those three schools SV totally destroyed them in the Alamo Dome. I watched a team with far less physical talent totally dominate them! That's the greatest thing about HS football, you just don't really know until the season unfolds! Example; Last year when I saw CJ totally dominated by a decent Churchill team I would have bet my house that CJ wouldn't have won a single game in the playoffs! They made it to the title game. Just shows what injuries and great coaching can do for a team in the same year. It also confirms what I've said for 20 years, a HS football team is only as good as the coaches on the sidelines! Every team has their share of natural talent, it is how the coaches groom and grow that talent! Take a good look at SV. No disrespect meant towards their kids at all, but there is no less than 10 teams in the SA area who field as much natural talent or more and they don't play at SV's level night after night.

District 26-5A will be a 9 team district next year. SA Lee has been moved back up to 5A, and they will be in 26-5A. SV will remain in 26-5A along with all NEISD schools, Judson and Wagner.
