The Conroe vs The Woodlands goes beyond sports.

For the last 20 years economic force in Montgomery county is south county (The Woodlands area).

Conroe was King.
The problem with Conroe is back in the day, they used to be the big dog. In the 70's Conroe HS was the biggest and badest 5A high schools north of Klein HS and south of Dallas.

It's a North/South thing. They had the football program.

Now Conroe is a want-a-be program.

Conroe up until the late 80's controled the school district political, money and planning. That changed in the 90's.

When The Woodlands got started and it become an attractive community for families that wanted planned streets, great amenities with good schools (It sells houses) People started moving into The Woodlands and the south county area.

All the bond issues that have past the last 15 years have passed because the majority of voters want better schools. (and that's been in result of south county voters)

Conroe area will be getting over $150,000,000 in new and renovation construction in the next 5 years.

Conroe residence benefit from the continued population and economic growth in south county. Despite Conroe residence voting against funding schools.

The Woodlands is a great master plan community for families and The Woodlands High Schools football team reflects those hard working values period.

Whatever you think. These kids work hard year in year out and they win. This 06 class is no exception. In fact maybe the hardest working class ever! Believe me when I say that.

Kingwood, Spring, Westfied and Conroe they don't.

Katy, North Shore, Lufkin and The Woodlands do.

Further back up on this post it was said that College Park should be on the rise, because they are a Woodlands school, is that an automatic? Of course growth factors of a planned community like THW by developers and investors are more atractive to some to live, than a city like Conroe that was built 80 years ago without the palnned community advantage, expanding because of urban spraw from Houston in the 60's and 70's. Evidently, Conroe also has something to offer many because they are still a dynamic and growing area. I can only imagine what that makes the other real Conroe schools feel like when they are look upon as 2nd class citizens of that area and every weekend of the football season to watch the red and green kilt clad faithful make their way into your stadium at Conroe High School. You can bet when TWH get their own stadium, this rivalry will only get intensify between the two cities.

I don't think you have all day to read about the vast history of Conroe's football past and individuals who made it great. But if you do, just read Tiger Boogie. I don't think they wrote a book about "The" Woodlands football team. I give them credit; they have had success and had some players, local and moved in, which have made them good. With a new school on the horizon, it will be a little more difficult. The same will be said with Judson’s new school.

Even with the talent in CISD schools and the rest of 15-5a, compare it with the Lone Star standings with other 5A's. This is a true comparisons of schools throughout the state. Lufkin dominates in football and "The" Woodlands can dominate their little district only losing to AMC in the first round. Even the mighty Judson is not even in the top of the state.

When you have so much in fighting and hate within your own school district the love is hard to find. It will all get worse before it gets better. I look for THW to split from Conroe and have their own school district someday. Talk about an escalated rivalry... it will be a war between those schools.
