1) North Shore....region is there's to lose
2) Cy-Falls...has a number of players returning from region III finalist team
3) Pearland...expectations running high in Oiler land for deep playoff run
4) Katy....will they reload and make another deep run, or will someone challenge them
5) FB Marshall...9-1 campaign in '05, returns loads of speed and playmakers returning
6) Houston Lamar...on paper, they will bury everyone in district, playoffs are a different story
7) Humble....should also own the district, will have to replace qb
8) Cy-Fair..will be top district competetion for Cy-Falls, loses lots of underclassmen to new high school Cy-Woods
9) FB Hightower...missed playoffs for first time in school history last year, will retool and compete with Marshall in 23-5A
10) LaPorte..made deep playoff run in '05 before losing to Cy-Falls, should finish second in 22-5A behind North Shore
11) Jersey Village..always in the playoff hunt, and will go to war with Cy-Falls, Cy-Fair and Strake Jesuit this fall
12) Beaumont West Brook.had a breakthrough year in '05, looks for bigger things in '06
13) Alief Elsik..looks to rebound from losing season and make run for playoffs
14) FB Dulles...QB Cotton Turner, 4 top receivers return in spread offense, will challenge Marshall and Hightower in 23-5A
15) Aldine Eisenhower..first losing season since 1993, Ike will rebound in a big way

I think Katy should be ranked higher until they show us otherwise.

I dont..Katy will have a number of unproven players next year, will have to replace their starting qb, rb, two way star Will Thompson, and a number of role players. On paper, North Shore, Cy-Falls and Pearland are better than Katy is right now....

1-CyFalls
2-NorthShore
3-Katy
4-FB Dulles
5-CyFair
6-Houston Lamar
7-PearLand
8-LaPorte
9-Humble
10-Galveston Ball
11-Houston Bellaire
12-Strake Jesuit
13-Beaumont WestBrook
14-Nimitz
15-Cinco Ranch
I think the old 205a and 185a will be eliminated in early rounds with the exception of Dulles. The new 175a will produce at least 1 R3 Champion.

1. North Shore- loaded, only real ? for me on paper is secondary...however, it's North Shore and with Aymond/Joe Walker involved, I'll go out on a limb and say the Stangs will have able bodies at the back
2. Katy- return more than most think; very capable RB, FB and WRs; talented LBs and DBs; will contend if new QB learns to manage games efficiently
3. Houston Lamar- most talented HISD team I've seen since '03 Washington or '01 Madison
4. Cy Falls- Return almost the entire offense, but a couple of key losses on defense (need LBs to step up)
5. Pearland- Proctor and Whitaker should be a dangerous combo, but will need defense

Bulldog,
Is Lamar that sick this year? I 97 they were stacked and had what I thought was their most talented team.

With what they return, Lamar jumps out at me more than any HISD team I've seen since 2000 save for maybe '03 Washington (Joe Fields, Brandon Jackson, Avery Norris, Reggie Youngblood) or '01 Madison. I've usually been as skeptical of hyping HISD teams as anyone else, but Lamar may have the pieces to be as strong as they've been in a while.
Lamar's QB Demetrius Woods was among the most impressive players I saw all season last fall. Westfield was able to shut down the guys around him in the playoffs, and eventually lock in to stopping Woods. Lamar will likely run over HISD in impressive fashion, and will be a tough out in the playoffs if that happens. Lamar has been the most stable HISD program over the last 10 years in my opinion, and I think they may be onto something this year. If there's an HISD team out there that can still hang with the 'burb powers, Lamar would have to be it given their enrollment, stability and talent.

Only reason why i have Humble above laporte is because overall the better team is humble, much quicker defense and more high powered offense. But the debate can go either way. laporte is a very good team.
i would change a couple
1.NShore
2.katy
3.cy-falls
4.pearland
5.lamar
6.Humble
7.laporte
8.Ball (would be higher if not for the UIL "thing")
9.marshall(still need to convince me)
10.hightower
11.Bwestbrook
12. Strake jesuit
13.cy-fair
14.Cinco
15.Nimitz

I think NS will reload in the secondary... but the question I have is how well the New QB will handle the reigns of a potent squad... they make all the difference.... if the new QB comes in and plays well... I like our chances...how does the new playoff format affect katys chances of going div I?

Unlikely - 2 teams per district in div. I next year. I believe Katy has the 5th highest enrollment in dist. 18.

Everybody is talking about Houston Lamar as far as HISD schools, what about Fort Bend Marshall they have some of the most talented athletes in the area and werent that bad considering there young program i think they will surprise alot of teams if they put it all together

I don't know too much about FBMarshall except what I've read here... They had 16 or 17 players sign to college scholarships? Doesn't that mean they will have a lot of holes to fill?

Cy Creek should be listed at #10 at best. Creek team next yr will be much improved from last. Creek returns agruebly one of the best or if not the best overall back in 17-5a or greater Hou. They also have added some N.O Flavor. Creek don't look like the Creek of 2 yrs ago. I don't see it with Fair and Strake next yr. Fair loses it's entire OL and most of it Defense alone with it's TE. Don't know bout Strake but they will need to adjust to the teams play in this their new district and I don't think they can do this next yr. McCaig has improved that program every yr and I see next yr being no different. Remember this is a team that have wins against Falls 2 yrs in a row with waht some say inferior talent and barely lost to fair on a last sec KR. Heard some rumbling that next yr Creeks back will finally get the chance to have a FB as xtra blocker and run more of a conventional attack than the spread to open up holes. I pick Creek wins district 17-5a with the new Flavor or Orlean's

Marshall loses some of their best players to graduation like James Thomas and Quentin Carlock. Those two will be very hard to replace in addition to some of the guys they lost on defense. Marshall has talent on campus for sure, but they'll be inexperienced in key areas going in.

DOC223, I see this is your first post - welcome! It's always good to have more "cy" schools in the mix. I agree that Creek should be in the mix next year too but JV may be it's usual self too - they are almost always in the mix for the district title. Remember all of these posts are just opinions - we all hope our teams win the title and with this district, it's almost impossible to predict. There has never been a better time to be a fan of 17-5a - it's going to be a fun ride next season. Yes, Creek has beat us two years in a row - I hope the tide will turn on that too;) I think the Eagles realize that and will be more focused this year - last year when we played Creek early in the season, we were still working on the QB position and getting some kinks out. As you probably know, we got rid of a lot of those kinks:) Hey, I think we play y'all in basketball this week - we are both in the running for district there too.

Thank you CFM. This is a cool board!
The reference to winning against Falls was not out of disrespect. It wa meant as a barometer to measure Creek upward program successes. Falls on paper and on the field is a scary team. I know falls will want some payback next yr (smile)
I will be at the BB game tonight!!

It's TONIGHT!!! Darn, my daughter has a softball game. I hate to miss it but she comes first. There was no disrespect taken by the way - you Cougars have a lot to be proud of. Last year at the Falls/Creek game, I mentioned to my daughter before the game that you all seemed so much more excited about the game than we did - it was almost scary:eek: Y'all came to play and then had a very nice season.
