SP, celebrating a near-injury-free roster for the first time this season, scores by 3rd down of each possession, burning 30 seconds of clock time. Woodlands has a ball control offense, averaging 2 minutes per possession....more with running plays, less when airing out interceptions. Woods scores when the SP defense hears a whistle from the stands and heads into the locker room early. Woodlands ends the game leading one statistical category by having 19 offensive possessions to 18 for STP. Woods fans also find solace in knowing they have taken part in a guiness book of world records event. The stadium groundskeeper is disgusted because he must fill in the ravine down the left slot created by SP running backs.

However, there is some sobering news for the visitors: The SP kicker misses one of 18 PAT's because of a muscle cramp. SP QB's don't set any records, because they split the passing yards evenly at 337 each. Three running backs, 2 receivers and the mascot are taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. Luckily, they only need observation, and are revived when the doctors wave college scholarship offers in their faces.

What?.... what? It COULD happen!

I been thinking about this one for a while now and after doing my homework I'm not sure the homefield advantage will be enough for the Woodz in this one. Everything else seems to be a wash, IMO.

STP is playing good defense lately and they bring some good speed to match up well with TWHS.

Sorry Woods, I gotta go with STP in a close one. I think it will be low scoring as well.

As the 1st half wound down, I could see the STP defense gelling, especially by holding TW to a field goal on the last drive of the game.....but things were still grim because things were stale mate with us down by 14.

Even with the rapid scoring beginning in the second half, we knew it might take only a moment for a turnabout---so many big plays. 8 minutes in the 4th, TW recovers SP fumble WAY close to SP goal line and has chance to make it a 1 score game with plenty of time on the clock. All the TW old folks where were leaving turned around and went back to their seats (At least it had BETTER have been just the old folks, because TW was still in the game!). I didn't really calm down until 2:00 to go. Play at this level is too unpredictable!

Incredible coaching by Chessher: Example One: On TW's last punt of game, no SP receiver back. We had all hands up front to counter a fake, and to make sure no mishandling of the punt. Example Two: later on, SP is trying to burn clock to end the game. Sharp (17) runs on 2nd and 8, gets through the line, stiffarms a DB, then, instead of going for more yardage SITS DOWN in the quarterback slide. At first I moaned because he gave up potential yardage...I have NEVER seen that kid avoid a collision. Then, we realized that he INTENTIONALLY stopped 1 yard short of the 1st down so that the clock would keep running!

I think #17 slid just to avoid fumbling. No reason to not get the 1st down; though the clock stops briefly, the ref will start it again with a fresh 25 countdown.

A tale of Two Halfs:

1st Half - TW played a really good first half and caught SP off guard. TW missed out on a couple opportunities to increase score. Very easily could have been 31-3 TW at half.

Halftime - Coach Chessher made adjustments for Stony Point. Coach Schmid mad no adjustments for The Woodlands.

2nd Half - Chessher's adjustments at half was to run the ball at the tall lanky middle LB for TW. That kid couldn't tackle a 90 year old grandmother. 5 TDs on 5 possessions. Wow! TW made no adjustments. Best team won.

Whatever Stony Point is paying Coach Chessher, you should double it. SP players could have easily fallen apart going into half down 14 points, but Chessher and his staff did a great job.

Good luck to Stony Point the rest of the playoffs!

Correct, I was a little disappointed at the short slide, but his coaches were telling him to cover the ball with both hands and avoid significant contact.;)
I think he simply knew his big boys could get an easy 2 yds on third down - no need to take chances.:notworthy
