Production value for this Superbowl has really sucked. They really screwed up the Stones performance and for that, I am furious.

I am surprised that they didn't get Carl Lewis for the National Anthem. I think he may have been able to do a better job.

The national anthem was bad, the halftime show had lots of technical problems and the game overall was kinda boring IMO.

Yeah. The national anthem was horrible and the halftime show sucked. The game was slow and there wasn't alot of excitement watching the game either.

those weren't technical problems. it was Mick freaking Jagger!!! It sounded like when my kids are singing along with those ear buds in their ears and they don't notice that they aren't singing all of the words.
If anything could tarnish the image of the stones, that had to be it. let's party with Mick and the boys. How about some Geritol and a cup of warm milk. Party ON!!!

I thought Aretha was decent - the choir wasn't miked or something. The Stones I think may have actually died on stage. What was that movie with the dead guy - and pretending he wasn't dead? That guy is Keith Richards.

Aretha always sounds good. But the arrangement was awful. I am sorry but in my opinion, the National Anthem belongs to all of us. It is not a song to perform to. Those who sing it, should be LEADING everyone in the stadium to sing along. And you can't do that with all of these changes and arrangements people do to personalize it. It is not a personal song. Keep your own version in the shower. It is the NATIONAL ANTHEM. Everyone should be allowed to sing along with pride.

I would have rather heard or seen an Eminem/Kid Rock production than the stuff they went with instead.
As for the Rolling Stones, I'm not of that generation but from things I've read and heard they are widely considered to be one of the most overrated performing bands in the history of music.

I missed the 1980 Cotton Bowl Stones show - but heard it was great. So - we did make the 1988 Stones Cotton Bowl show - that was the "we're old, but can still rock show". It was decent, but not near as good as the Springsteen show I saw a couple of years earlier in the CB. It's just sad now.

And Im pretty sure that there was far too much of Jagger's gut showing during the performance... cmon...bring back the half way decent shows...

I thought it sucked - the whole thing - except the commercials were finally funny again. Especially the Magic Refrigerator and the Streaking goat...Oh and the girl getting tackled like she was David Carr!! The game was boring, the Stones just need to retire - they look so geratric - McCartney was way better last year and he still looks pretty good. I miss the good old days when they just played hard nose football and a band played at halftime. My boy, Csonka, was honored as was Joe Willy Namath (he looked pretty good!!) - that was the only part of the game I truly enjoyed...seeing my childhood idols (Bart Freaking Starr was there - how awesome is that!!). The only thing that could have topped that part for me would have been to bring in Fran Tarkenton and Johnny U!!

Hey, how about my man Roger Staubach? I'm actually glad Bradshaw wasn't there. Franco Harris waiving his terrible towel brought back some old 70's nightmares. And Lynn Swann....what can you say - the guy's running for governor. Surprised he didn't come out carrying a baby and a microphone.

Mick can't sing anymore and I never have liked his stage gyrations (guess that's for the women). The band played well enough, but the vocals were awful. Retirement is overdue!

Believe me, not all women care for his stage gyrations either and never have.

After watching/listening to the Stones I am now grateful that the Beatles called it quits while they were still a great band.

That was the best one ever. I remember Charley Steiner couldn't do SportsCenter from laughing so hard at Carl doing the Anthem at a Nets game!:D

I've never given two turds about the Stones. I really don't know what the big deal about them is anyway.

The NFL is in a real pickle of a situation.
They have to give up good seats to their corporate partners because they expect perks for all that money they give the NFL.
Average fans don't get to go because of all the seats already allocated to Corporations.
Those corporate guys don't all care about the game, so they try to make it an experience. I'd be happy with a high school marching band, too. It would be even better if they got a bunch of little kids running around out there playing football or even pulling people out of the stands to play.

That dude is too ugly for women to get some kind of excitement out of his stage gyrations! How did Jerry Hall ever fall for him? Wait, it's because she's a blonde!:p

Personally, I have never understood their appeal. The Beatles were far and away more gifted than they ever hoped to be, even in the short time they were together. Even AFTER they broke up, each one was better than the sum of the Stones parts. They looked like the living death on Sunday. I kept expecting Jim Carrey's Death character from In Living Color to show up. I think Barry Manilow would have been better than that (but then, I'll fess up, I'm a Barry fan too - ok, enough with the nerd comments out there). I think Mick does absolutely nothing for the great majority of women out there...the only thing Jerry Hall saw was fame and fortune. She's a ditz anyway.
Bring back the marching bands!!!!!!! They could put a band like the Madison Scouts or the Cavaliers out there and play "The Planets" (Jupiter in particular) and that place would be rocking!
