For one, i did not. at all.

I thought Conroe-Westfield was going to be a close, tough game. A Fun one to watch. Yet westfield ran away with it and out-hit the tigers for a big win.

The Collins vs Oak Ridge game....well i thought it coulda been a littleee closer :D

Lufkin vs Klein....Boom Bearkats  nothing left to say there. game said it all

and to top it all off...Woodlands barely sneaking past Klein Forest  i wasn't able to attend the game, but from what i heard as the game clocked ticked down...it was a smashmouth game. Matt Davis is an animal

What were all of yall's opinions on this district matchup? Did your predictions go as planned or were you shocked at the results?

Was not surprised by any of this; well maybe the points that KC put up on OR. But we have been telling everyone that this District was for real this year (and we even had to beat on each other a little!)...hell the 5 & 6 teams probably would have won a Round 1 game.

I actually saw all four of those games going about the way they did. Lufkin plays really well at Abe Martin, but doesn't really do well on the road. So when the Panthers had to go on the road, I had the "L" chalked up for the LP.

Only surprised by the Lufkin loss. Thought 14-5A would go 2-2.

The scoring amount by KC and Westfield was a little shocker. I thought Klein could hang with Lufkin.......I really was disappointed in KF not beating TWHS. They had em on the ropes.....Oh well!

I'm not sure how you could be surprised by the KC and SW scoring against OR and CHS.

Has anyone talked to the KF kicker yet? I'd be interested to know what was going through his head before, during, and after that kick.

Although he will get the blame, it's not always 100% the kicker's fault. I know that a field goal is a three-part process: snap, hold, kick. I wonder which specific part(s) broke down.

Ya know....you win as a team and you lose as a team. Kicker shouldn't have had to make that kick to win.....I believe there were other mistakes made....fumbles, missed tackles, wrong plays called. Any one of them could have won the game. It's a tough position to be in....the kicker is a pretty good one. Being a kicker is kinda like playing safety...you are the last one they see make a mistake. A lot of people view extra points as gimme points....they are not! Like you said, it involves a good snap, a good hold and then finally the kick.....not to mention the pressure on his shoulders.

agreed...the New England kicker feels the same way today. (dumbarse Belichick!)

I saw this coming. I've seen Lufkin - earlier in the season - and knew KHS would have a chance. Not a great chance, but a solid chance. I didn't see Lufkin blowing KHS out, but if KHS were to beat Lufkin I wouldn't have been surprised. Also, I've seen Klein Collins, Klein Forest, Klein HS, and Westfield. I knew 14-5A was in for a fight. I was at the Klein Forest/TWHS game. TWHS were lucky to escape. Klein Forest certainly had the players to play w/ TWHS. As a matter of fact, KFHS handled the TWHS OL, all night. LB-Nwosu, WR/DB-Payne, DL-Jones, and DL-Phillips were going nutz. And QB-Davis was/is a hoss. TWHS didn't look dominant, at all.

I brought all of this up, weeks ago... http://forums.5atexasfootball.com/showthread.php?t=58654

No doubt the TWHS played about as well as the score margin...+1...but we get another chance agaisnt RRSP. Gonna have to be a much better effort all the way around to beat SP.

After how they played, is The Woodlands the favorite this week against Stony Point?

Different team. Different game plan. Different game.

To expound, TW played well below their averages. Whether that is due to the exceptional play of KF may or may not be a factor. Point is, if the KF game served as any type of wake up call for TW, then they should be back on track by next week. Otherwise, I hear shoes squeaking on hardwood floors.

So, what's your answer to the question posed? "Is TW the favorite this week?"

No way TWHS is favored...RRSP is unbeatable. TW fans shouldn't even bother coming to the game.

See you there.

Considering that:

1. TW is running the same game plan on both sides of the ball that they ran last year, and

2. RRSP is running the same game plan that they used to beat TW last year, and

3. key TW players are not 100% as of last week, then

I would surmise that RRSP has the edge going into this game. HOWEVER, there are no certanties, which is why your question must be answered on the field.

I'll answer your question. In TGO's book, TWHS is favored. Why?

SOS
I give TWHS the overwhelming edge in preparation, due to a much tougher 11-0 record vs RRSP's solid schedule, w/ a 10-1 record.

Lufkin (8-3) over Cedar Park (7-4)
Katy (10-1) over Leander (8-3)
Klein Forest (7-4) over RR Westwood (7-4)
PA Memorial (6-5) over Cy Falls (5-6)
Oak Ridge (5-5) over Round Rock (4-6)
College Park (4-6) over McNeil (2-8)
Conroe (5-5) over 4A-Alamo Heights (8-3)
New Caney (2-8) over Vista Ridge (1-9)
Clear Lake (3-7) over Georgetown (1-9)
Humble Kingwood (5-5) over Pflugerville Connelly (2-8)
Cy Fair (0-10) = 4A-Waco (2-8)

10-0-1 in favor of TWHS, in terms of schedule strength.

Homefield Advantage
It's at Woodforest Stadium. Home of the Highland BEAST aka "crowd/environment advantage". Not saying RRSP can't play in a place like that, but it certainly should make TWHS feel better about the game, knowing they must protect their house.

What both teams lost from 2008:
RRSP - Returned 11, but lost Mims, McKissic, Martin, Dozier, and Browder.
TWHS - Returned 8, but lost McCloud, and Rowe.

Keys to winning:
RRSP - be physical; don't make mistakes; contain RB-Lasco; attack at the line of scrimmage; allow the option-read to Kelly to stack up yds
TWHS - stop DT-Wade; get pass-sacks (stop Sharp-2-Shillow); contain RB-Kelly; be physical and play like you know you're at home.. and protect it!

This is one of those games that will likely end with a 7-14 pt difference.

Gimme TWHS by 10 pts over RRSP! 38-28, final score!
