Coppell vs. Plano East should be a decent game depending on what Plano East team shows up.

Plano East head coach Johnny Ringo broke a 35 year play-off drought in 1999 bringing Coppell out of the lowest of low High School football team, to a contender. Ringo handed over the reigns to Mike Fuller (now at Hertiage high school) in 2000.

I will be pulling for FM Marcus and Southlake, but have to favor Cedar Hill and Allen in those. Coppell has the most realistic chance to advance and I think they will win over PEHS.

Cedar Hill and Allen look to be headed for a showdown.

Coppell definitely should advance and I think they beat PESH 31-14.

I am calling for the Marcus upset this week, probably a long shot and crazy but I thin they will get it done. Marcus 31-28

Allen matches up much better with Carroll than the other way around. The Carroll secondary has some weaknesses and Heritage missed on some opportunities early yesterday there. I really like the Allen O-Line and Matt Brown and how their offense has been playing. Give me Allen 38-24

Coppell should beat PESH by at least 2 scores
Chill handles Marcus
Carroll gets a close game from Allen but the Dragons ride the better defense to win.

I think Coppell wins but we have to play better than we did on Saturday. Too many mistakes and we have to hold on to the ball better. I thought the offensive and defensive line played well. I know the coaches will work on the mistakes from this weekend.

Coppell over P East

CHill over Marcus - but I agree with FF here, FMM could surprise.

Carroll over Allen - I think this is another dead-even battle. Our D yields some yards, but not scores. Brown however is a challenge. Just as the CHHS QB was able to break up the middle when coverage was tight and get first downs, so will Brown. A very "Riley" like QB. And his backup, while different, is definitely a starter for most other teams. Turnovers/special teams will be big here, game winners. We must be able to keep Brown contained (minimal scramble) AND get to him to be successful. TTA needs a big day as well as Piland spreading it around and being accurate. O-Line must keep the pressure off him. I believe Carroll will do it.

Clean sweep by 6-5A. How is that for a bold statement. Allen may be the next coming of the 2000-2006 Dragons but I have to see it first. Based on district competition we have had the bigger test. They caught Trinity early. As for the rest of their district can anyone make a case it was a tough district? I know we played in a relitively weak district for awhile and still won so it is possible but I have to see it first.

I have to agree, and not just because he's a moderator.

I would love for Marcus to win, and while I think it is possible, I anticipate this being a victory for Cedar Hill.

I don't anticipate Coppell having trouble with Plano East.

Pre-season, I would have picked Allen. However the Dragons have it together and while it will be close I expect Carroll to take it for the little guys.

I think a clean sweep is a tall order. Coppell wins thier game. Allen and Carroll will be close, but I think it is hoping for too much for Marcus to beat Cedar Hill.

I guess I didnt understand... But I'm sticking with my pick

It'll be close, and I'll say due to the fact Marcus was in a very tough 6-5A and had a decent non-district that they'll pull it out.

6-5A goes 2-1 Marcus & Coppell advance.

Now if we go 3-0 that would just speak volumes about our district.

Of the 6-5A crowd, Coppell has the best remaining "clear" path to the Regional title this season.

Marcus has the potential to upset Cedar Hill, but I am going to have to stick with the speed in this one and give the nod to CHill.

No doubt that Allen will be the favorite heading into Saturday evening's game and they should be. As the prevailing state champion, they earned that status last season with whom they have brought back. Carroll is playing pretty good ball at the moment and the team seems to be on a mission. There are some concerns in the secondary for the Dragons at this point of the season, however. So I am truly perplexed as to the outcome of this one. Close game with the nod to the ???

I've seen a lot of people picking Marcus in an upset, and I think its a wise pick. They would have to play real well, but Cedar Hill has looked real beatable at times this season. It would not shock me for Marcus to have a chance to win this one. I think Cedar Hill will win, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if Marcus won.

In the other games, I like Coppell big, and as I've explained on the other thread, I like SLC by 14. The Dragon defense is legit.

Not only no. But hell no. If you are there and have been all day and have good seats then do not get up and move. Its not your fault people walk into their game during pregame expecting to get a good seat. My favorite is when people come up to us and ask if we are moving, we look at them and as politely as can be said, "Umm No" when they give us those dirty looks we jut laugh at them.

Unfortunately I have to be at work on Saturday so I won't get to attend any of these games :(

Plano East is certainly better than Keller, but if Coppell plays well, it's nothing they shouldn't handle comfortably. 38-17 Cowboys.

Marcus and Cedar Hill is a tough call. I see it as a close one, but Cedar Hill's defense gets a few more stops than the Marauders. 27-21 Cedar Hill.

Southlake and Allen is a toss up. Carroll's offense seems to be able to score against anyone, but Allen should be able to score at ease on the Dragons' D as well. Allen wins 42-38 in a whoever gets the ball last kind of game.

Good luck to all of 6-5A this week. Marcus and SLC, prove me wrong!

Question: Why do we always elect to receive in the second half? Just curious...

In my opinion the two most important possessions of the game are the last one of the first half and the first one of the second half, so we score starting the second half and can either maintain the momentum or change it.

You know Toon is just a hater of the Lewisville schools. He is always bashing them and he even said Marcus would lose last week, what makes it so "guaranteed that Marcus will lose" but makes it a toss up between Carroll and Allen?

Perhaps because of the facts before me; I made an informed choice :-

Marcus 7-3 vs Cedar Hill 11-0. Who in their right mind would bet on anything other than a Cedar Hill win. But that is why the games are played and not decided who has the most votes in a poll on this website.

Coppell 10-1 vs Plano East 7-3. This could be a close game; but I have noticed a resilience in this year’s Coppell team and they are much better than the team I saw lose to Carroll.

Southlake 10-1 vs Allen 10-1. How do you spilt these teams. In a previous post I have forecasted an Allen win between 2 very evenly matched teams and my decision tilted to the team with a 3 Year Starting QB, with a Coach who has already won a State Championship. Based on this forecast – does that make me a Dragon hater?

It is not a question of hate. Yes, I was critical of Coppell early in the season, but I have since changed my point of view, I am happy to admit when I am wrong; as I know that I do not have a divine right be correct all the time. You will not find a single post I have made where I have used the word ‘hate’ nor have insinuated any hatred for any team in any of my posts. In fact it is your word. It is not my fault that all the Lewisville schools have poor football teams this year and I do not forecast them to win. Perhaps if out of the 4 Lewisville schools you could actually produce one good team, then I will be more than happy to forecast a win for a Lewisville school..

I have noticed you are always looking for some underlying message or conspiracy in other peoples' posts; but then again if that what floats your boat - keep going for it.

Man if Marcus isn't a good football team taht doesn't speak too much about Carroll then who struggled with that poor Lewisville area school. Same with Hebron I mean I would think a poor team like Hebron would get beat by a heck of a lot more than 7 points against this great Carroll team, on the road to boot.
As for loooking for a conspiracy not at all. Just wanted to use some of the same ammo people from you fanbase have been using for years.
Pick against Carroll, you're a hater. Say something bad about Carroll, you're a hater. So if those who do that are haters, then so are you. See how stupid it is to label people haters now;)

So it's:
Coppell-Plano East
Marcus-Chill
Trinity-Plano
Carroll-Allen

in that order?

Haha..

I'm starting to think this could really end up being a trap game for Coppell.

Lets look at some quick play-off history for Coppell:

In 46 years of football, Coppell has made the play-offs just 9 times.

But lets forget about the far far away past. Lets look at the past 10 years.

Since Plano East Head Coach took Coppell to their first play-off in 35 years in in 1999 Coppell has made the play-offs 7 times. And had seasons .500 or better 90% of the time this decade

Since moving to 5A Coppell has made the play offs 6 out of 9 seasons and .500 or better 8 out of 9 times. But heres the catch. Coppell has never advanced out of the third round, and only advanced to the the third round once since movie up to 5A and twice all time.

Coppells one trip to the third round however did come during their first season in 5A (anyone besides a Southlake fan would find that amazing). But They ended up losing in a tight battle with Abilene Cooper 27-28 after being down 28-0 at one point. Coppell scored the potential game tying extra point

Since then Coppell has failed to make it past the third round of the play-offs.

Curse of the spike anyone?

All Curse are ment to be broken :)

You'll get to the 3rd round, I'm pretty confident of that. At that point it is Arlington or Odessa. Can't speak to Odessa, but Joeckel has only gotten better over the season. If he is playing (there were rumors in another thread, pay attention to the paper on Sunday), their deep threat is real. Also, Evol is saying they have developed a rushing attack. Not sure about that, we sure didn't see it. They were vulnerable to a strong rush. I think Coppell can defeat both of those teams as well (again, not sure about Odessa, don't know them).

Unfortunately, that puts you up against either Dallas Skyline (that's who I think it will be), or DeSoto. Less likely are Westfield or CyWoods. That is going to be tough.

...and if you look at my post game reviews you will read that I was not that enamored with the Dragons performances in either of those games against the teams you mention. As you say "See how stupid it is to label people haters now" - which I need to remind you - is something I have never done. Posted honest objective view points yes, but this is not hating a team just because an assessment is not full of compliments.

Correct you are, sorry to use you as an example but you see people like yourself who get labeled haters all the time because of doing exactly what you have done, give an objetive view that may not be seen as popular among others so in return you are then labeled a hater.
FWIW, I do not think you are a hater of anything or anybody. You get crap from your own fanbase as well for giving an honest input.

No, if Coppell gets past Plano East and Arlington (Arlington won big against Odessa tonight after you posted) that puts them against Trinity, most likely. Check the brackets . . . Dallas Skyline/DeSoto/Westfield/Cy Woods are in a different bracket.

Still, your main point about a potential fourth round is well taken :)

the winner between Coppell and Plano East will face Arlington High School
Joeckel had an amazing game 20 rushing attempts 112 yards 3 TDs, and 16 pass attempts for 237 yards 5 TDs 0 INT in
70-42 Score fest with Odessa

(WOW)

winner of Coppell/Plano East vs. Arlington will play one of the following

Euless Trinity/Plano or Odessa Permian/Arlington Martin

oops:o
On my bracket sheet I jumped.
Coppell - PESH
Coppell - Arlington
Coppell - Trinity

I initially had Coppell defeating ET and playing Skyline. I have a lot more doubt about that at this point, but we'll see.

Now that we are on the same page, this morning's game shows you really can't look ahead too far. PESH showed some great D today holding Coppell to 14. The Coppell D was better, though, shutting them out. Arlington showed some great offense racking up what? 70 points? Something like that . . . on Odessa. Lots of work cut out for the fabulous Coppell D next week.

But . . . I see a possible Trinity/Coppell game as a good matchup for Coppell. I predict a Trinity win, yet I see some reasons to think the Coppell's D could slow Trinity enough for Coppell to score some.

Guarantee Loss for 6-5A = Marcus
Guarantee Win for 6-5A = Coppell
Could Go Either Way 6-5A = Carroll

Ok, so I got the easy picks correct. Now comes the difficult game to pick. I just hope the Dragons bring their A-Game that they are so capable of playing. In which case they could just about beat anyone in the state on their day.

JagFan, FarmerFan, Coppell Cowboy and I were all there. As previously advertised I had on a black hoodie with the Hebron H, JagFan had a Jaguar purse and Coppell Cowboy had on a black jacket with Coppell Cowboys on it.

We did discuss a post-playoff/realignment get together.
