Okay you people change the board up so freaking much it was wired and I couldnt even find the off topic discussion page...Crazy ppl on 5A football.com...
Okay Im home obviously, extreamly tired from my long bootcamp expriance.
Bootcamp was well, a love hate game for me. I had to deal with alot more then alot more then most recruits had to deal with.
The first couple of days I was doing alright in 1st Training Batalion Alpha Co. but then I got extreamly sick and spent about 2 weeks in MRP (medical rehabliton platoon) and another week at Balboa Naval Hospital, which was no fun at all.
When I finally got back to training on training day 12 I picked up with 3rd BN Kilo Co. (KILLER KILO), and completed recruit traing. Bootcamp had its good days and its bad days, there were some really tough days that I thought I wouldnt make it (just the dang mind games they would play plus I was the Platoon cut up so I was always getting introuble for somthing), and then there were the days that were a blast, like at WFTB (Weapons and Field Training Batalion), was great fun, learning to shot my M16A2 Service Rifal, staying out in the field, the Crucible, I loved that trash, it was fun, and challenging, just the whole mental part of bootcamp I hated.
The worst part is that MCRD is right next to San Diego Inter. Airport, which is a tool they use to mess with you..."If you wanna go home just hope the effin fense" things like that.
You know I was prob the best at rifal manual but It couldnt march worth trash, it was ackward, like during the time we would be working on rifal manaual they would use me as an example but as soon as we would step off, it would be like Recruit Lonsdale what the **** are you doing you lil ***** (very edited and shorted)

You won't really march very much after you leave Tech School/AIT/whatever the Navy and Marines call it. They just want people to use teamwork and be precise in their execution of marching steps. That's why they had us fold towels in squares. Ultimately, all the Armed Forces want to make sure they have people who will obey orders when the time to obey and not think comes in a war. They always play games to see who will quit because they want the people who absolutely won't quit.

I bet you have a new respect for how much can be accomplished in 3 minutes huh?
The DI's used to give us a list of like 10 things that we had to do.......then say "3 minutes begin!!!".......we would look at each other like "WTF...we can't do all that in 3 minutes.." But by the time you leave....you can do it. hahaha

semper fi, brother!
watching those planes take off was pure torture.
I liked the Marines way better than i ever anticipated. I learned alot about working with other people, and alot about myself in those 6 years. You have made a smart investment in your future, no matter what you decide to do in the long run.
enjoy your leave, it will be much too short!

it's MOS school, or Military Occupational Specialty. You know we gotta have a different name for it than the other branches:D

That mean's the Air Force has AFSC's, the Army and Marines have MOS's, and Navy has ratings to describe our jobs.

Mine was in camp Johnson, NC( part of Camp Lejeune) The nearby town was Jacksonville. It sucked bad. I did like going down to Myrtle Beach, SC though. That was sweet!

There was a bowling alley on base..............and that's it.
A cab ride into Meridian was $20 a head...
We used to go to Lake Okatibee (sp?) in Philadelphia,Ms. a lot...
And yes sometimes over to Alabama...there is absolutely nothing to do in Meridian,Ms.......nothing!
Hey slorch......I didn't know you were a jarhead. When were you in the Corps?
My step-brother was a Navy recruiter in Myrtle Beach for a while....talk about cake duty...damn!
And I had to take some classes down at Cherry Point when I was stationed in Norfolk...what years were you there?

That's cool...for some reason I never knew that you were a Marine.

The Navy and Marine Corps thing was getting in the way and we didn't even know it.

I don't play that game. Anybody serving their country is worthy of respect, no matter how much easier their tour was than mine- LOL.
No we're cool, but I see conflict in our future...
starting about August...Go Tech!
