I hesitate to even put this on the board. I don't want to draw too much attention to the Ganders sneaking into the playoffs at 3-7, but hey....they are my team after all.
Pasadena Memorial is 8-2
Common opponents are Clear Creek and LaPorte.
Memorial beat Creek 35-7 and LP 42-35.
Lee lost to Creek 17-7 and beat LP 27-14(before Kendrick Perkins came back for LP)
Amazingly, Lee turned the ball over 39 times on the year. That has to be a new record. They gave away 22 fumbles and 17 interceptions.
Both of these teams put up about 260 yards per game on offense.
I would say the Pearland win was impressive for Memorial, but then again Kingwood beat Pearland this year too.
Of course Lee doesn't have any impressive wins. The one against LP came without Perkins playing for the Bulldogs.
Memorial beat LP with Perkins and Pearland, and a bunch of Pasadena schools.
Baytown Sterling laid the hammer down on those Pasadena schools too, so that doesn't impress me at all.
Memorial appears to be a pretty good team, but not a great one.
If...and this is of course a huge if, Lee can limit turnovers, then Lee will be able to play with them.
Lee was working Port Arthur Memorial a new one at halftime last weekend, then decided to rest the first string qb and things fell apart and snowballed from there.
Lee will have the advantage in speed and athletes, while Pasadena will have the advantage in execution and number of players on the team I'm sure.

I know I said i'll pull for our district. But I actually like the Pasadena Memorial Program, so I'm pulling for them. 28-10 Pasadena Memorial.

Pas Memorial is/was a whole different team after loosing their starting QB who was also their #1 rusher to a shoulder injury two weeks ago.
I am pulling for PM but don't look at the past wins to try and figure this one out because all those wins are now nulled out with one kid getting hurt.

Yep. With both Gresham and Jermaine Pettaway, our starting TB, out last week against Deer Park, our offense struggled BIG time! PM managed one field goal and committed several turnovers. The back ups need A LOT of work this week, just in case these two are still out on Friday night. Otherwise, one and done for PM, I'm sad to say.

Great game and what a true team effort by the Mavs! Offense finally got it in gear tonight while they wait for Gresham's return. Pettway also played and scored one of the TD's. Now onward to round 2.
Good game Lee. That Richardson kid is the real deal! 5 TD's in one game with a couple of them being long runs. Excellent player!

Good game Mavericks.
Here's my problem with what Lee did....
Richardson was easily the best player on the field last night.
He had scored both touchdowns when LEe was down 37-15.
Memorial punts to the Ganders, Richardson takes it back 80 yards for a touchdown. After the 2 point conversion it's now 37-23.
Lee inserts some of their offensive linemen on defense, and we get a 3 and out, take over the ball at our own 15 with about 9 minutes left in the game.
After all tht struggle, being down by 20 for the better part of the game. This is the first time in a while that we were within 2 td's and had the ball. All the momentum was starting to turn in the game. This is the biggest drive of the entire year for the Ganders' offense. It was going to be the drive that pretty much decided if the Ganders had a chance in this game......
The guy that had scored all three touchdowns so far was not even in the game....lol
Was he injured? Nah...Was Lee in some sort of jumbo set where they didn't need a receiver? Nah....they just had him over there chilling on the sideline while they had some backups in.
Nine minutes to go in the game, down by 14, and you don't have the most dangerous man on the field in the game.
I read in the Baytown Sun where the coach says they got Richardson the ball enough and others need to step up. No you didn't coach. You got him the ball 4 times on offense. He just so happened to score all 4 times. You only threw it to him 6 times total. When you have a player that is that much better than everyone else, you feed him the ball the entire game. The only time he shouldn't be thrown the ball at least 15 times a game is if Lee is up by 40 and he is resting, and we allknow that will never happen with the Lee defense.
Richardson doesn't need to be open. #11 for Memorial, bless his heart, did all he could do against him, had pretty good coverage, but Richardson just jumps over him and snags the ball about a foot higher than #11 can jump. It's a moot point now because Lee lost the game.
Next year though, I hope they don't waste Richardson as much as they did all year this year. He could be doing these things every single game.
Hopefully over the summer coach will figure it out. He's still young, so I have faith that coach will mature and understand these things as he goes along. Last night though it was like Vince Lombardi coaching against Dave Campo. The Memorial coach had such a better understanding of how everything fits together on offense. How to set up plays, how to sequence plays.
Lee usually just looks like they are reaching blindly into a bag and pulling out a play. There's no flow to it at all.

Although I am happy (if not totally surprised) that the Mavs won that game and put up 51 points in doing so, I will agree with you Panama about Richardson. He touches the ball 5 times and scores all 5 times. He is an exceptional athlete. If I were the coaching staff, I would do everything possible to get the ball into his hands as much as possible. Run some reverses, halfback passes, set up some screens, heck even run the wildcat with him taking the snap. Get the ball in his hands! I haven't seen any other Lee game this year, but if this is the way it has been all season long, shame on the coaches! Richardson is the real deal. Maybe it took a game like this for them to finally realize what kind of talent they have going into next year?

It has been even worse than this for the whole year to be honest.
They are so enamored with his play at cornerback, which he is a great cornerback, that they usually tire him out there. He would play every single play on defense, the other team wouldn't really throw the ball much, and he would be too tired to come in for the offensive series. Last night they used him only probably on half of the plays on defense. They used him too much right out of the box on defense though. He was running on fumes by the second half. What they should do is just the opposite of what they actually do.
They put him in there for the majority of the defensive snaps, then they stick him in after he catches his breath on offense and it's 3rd and 10 to try to do something. They should leave him in for every single offensive snap and play him in special situation on defense, third and longs and such.
The kid, and I said this on the setx board back after about the 4th week of the season, should be playing EVERY offensive play and have a ball thrown to him at least once in every single series. When the defense is on the field, they should be laying him down and fanning him and feeding him grapes until the offense is ready to go again. It's completely beyond comprehension to tire him out like they do on defense when he is the ONLY way to score on offense. I don't care if he is double teamed, just throw it out there and he will usually go and get it.
That's what really concerns me about this coaching staff. It's not even the lack of imagination on offense. It's the simple fact that they cannot evaluate talent properly. A 4 year old could come out and tell you that #14 should get the ball 5 or 6 times in every single quarter. That these coaches fail to see it is bothersome.
To make a long story short, yes this is how they have been wasting him all season long. He's only a sophomore though, so there is hope.
#11 for Memorial looks like a very good player, and he has speed, probably the best corner that we have faced all year.
Richardson is simply too good though for 99.9% of high school cornerbacks.
