OK I give. I thought we could keep this all in one thread of 16 vs. 15 5A but alas, it wasn't to be.

So, let's talk about this game. Ridge I don't see a lot of posts from you guys. Lot's of Woods, Creek, Falls fans out there. You guys around on this board?

We know you're big, with great skill players on both sides of the ball like all 15-5A teams seem to have. What will make the difference in this game for you?

Here's the skinny on Ridge; Wishbone with a power fullback and a huge tight end. 6/2 Defense.

My fault...I HATE HATE HATE having it all in one thread. That way, when I have time, I can read the rest, but when I don't I can read just my team! I think all the games deserve their own thread with their name in the title. LOL!!!

I think this could be the closest of the games...depending on which Ridge team shows up. Ridge has a good team...sometimes. Other times, you wonder what happened.

I don't know anything about Cedar Park. I feel Cy-Woods is getting all the hype and we tied them in district play and beat them. Anyways I am rooting for Ridge and will be at the game this Friday. Gotta support the Rams and watch the Dazzlers at halftime. I hope all the Cy-Fair ISD team do well.

This will be a short thread. There are no Ridge posters that actually post.

I wished we could have kept all in one thread also. There are not enough posters from any team to keep any of them going for long when you break them up into the individuals. It's too bad cycreekdiverdownmom has to endure reading about any other team in the district.

Thanks. We tied with Woods

Ridge is a very solid team. One week they beat Woods and then the next week almost beat Creek. Then they lost a bunch of starters and struggled for a few weeks

It looks like they were getting back to full strength at the end of the year.

They should give Cedar Park a good game. They do not have Russell Shepard anymore but have a bunch of playmakers on offense and defense and are VERY well coached

Not my point at all...I believe they all deserve their school name in lights...just 15-5A isn't good enough. I want to see the school names. They've earned it. They deserve it. When I have time (like now) I'll read them all. When I don't (like at work), I'll read what I can. I HATE multiple threads. I much preferred last year when it was a new one for each new week. I don't like threads that are 1230948753683292 pages long. 3 pages makes me much happier.

Looks like you're right - this thread has sort of withered while the other ones about the 15-5A vs 16-5A matchups have been active. I noticed our normally candid poster Beanz has sort of neutered himself because all the moms on the board getting on him. Sorry, but Ridge fans don't get on here and the the few that do look at this don't post. You may get more if they get past the first round. Ridge has made the playoffs every year except one since they have been playing varsity 2004-2005 season. They are a jeckll and hyde team. If they have all their defense back, they are very good. Offense depends on who is at QB.

There is a lot of support at the games by the students. Don't see many parents there unless their kids are on football team, band, or drill team. Lack of posting might be possibly due to lack of parental attendance at games. Being a relatively new school, they have had a good football team since they started playing Varsity.

appreciate it. everyone was saying don't play this year, but he talked it over with his parents and his pastor and said there is no way he missing out on this his senior year.

a little side note... as a sophomore he was pitching 91. you know, just an average player doing his thing.

Real thriller that Cy Ridge took 39-36 in 2OT. Congrats to Cy Ridge for having a game plan to jump on Cedar Park early. 33-0 before CP woke up and scored 36 unanswered points.

It's high time CP gets a new offensive scheme and possibly a new offensive coordinator. Now, before twolf5 and rangerus get their panties in a knot, I don't mean firing anybody. But something has got to give with this ridiculous offense that puts up all these great stats (as pounded on us by the bellicose announcer) and still can't score when needed. The first half was an embarrassment to the fine young men that had poured their hearts and souls into this season, especially the seniors. Reassign some people and get an offensive strategist that understands how to win playoff games. Enough of the BS from the coaching staff! Get it done or let somebody else do it. Just listen to the many hundreds - yes, hundreds of fans in the stands that have had enough of watching teams whip the crap out of us for a half before we figure out what to do and then it's too late. And clock management...all the valuable minutes wasted running this offense in spite of the need to pick up the pace. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Finally waking up after that game. I think I had nighmares about that 2nd and goal from the 2 in OT over and over! One observation I will make that kinda bookends this season. Has anybody else noticed it began with lousy special teams play (Westlake one blocked field goal, extra point, one missed chip shot field goal) and tonight, 2 missed very easy field goals. Untill Ross starts addressing these issues, we are going to have this year in and year out. Did you know they do not go "live" when practising field goals! That is insane at the 5A level. I hate leaving 5A on such a bitter note. This team deserved another couple of rounds. But that is the playoffs. On to 4A football and an new district. BTW-coach Ross playoff record at CP is 1-3. :(

i know! why didn't we just have willard pound up the middle on second down instead of running him in a counter play... especially at the 2? counter plays are rarely affective against a goal line defense.

better yet, dillon cox was at least a solid foot taller than the cb that was covering him the whole game! we could have easily did a fake handoff and thrown a high pass 6 feet to the endzone and all cox would have to do is button hook and hop a little bit. i mean he's a basketball star anyways! even if he didn't get it, it was second down, there was no point in not trying it.

it just gets me. we did two back to back counter plays on a goal line defense instead of pounding willard straight up the middle.

all in all, great game! seriously, no one was sitting down.

All this complaining about your offense now? Looks to me the defense didn't come out to play until the 2nd half. Isn't the D what y'all have been touting all season as what this team was about? Two years in a row the T'wolves get into a high-scoring slugfest with a 15-5A team.

yeah but when the defense did start playing ridge literally did not move the ball well for the entire second half.

not so much complaining about the offense, just complaining about a couple plays we could have used but did not. overall, our offense did good. the second half they did great.

Johnson was throwing anywhere he wanted in the first half. They got conservative, and it almost cost them. The kid is an even better receiver. I can't believe you guys couldn't find another QB, and let him stay at receiver.

Ridge has a young QB (Gonzalez) that I don't think the coaches showed patience with. He played most of the season except the last 3 games. To be honest. Johnson had a stellar year last year because defenses had to honor Shepard and Lipscomb, so he was often in single coverage. This year he has had to deal with two and three defenders, and it was tougher to get him the ball. The move to QB is a reflection of that frustration in trying to get him the ball. However, Ridge has a strong core of receivers in Moore, Jones, and Tinoco.

Hopefully the coaches will wake up and realize that a balanced attack of like they had in the first half of this game is what they need. When they try to go run only with Johnson and Powell is when we stall out.

Ridge will go as far as their coaching staff will take them. Last year, even with Shepard and Lipscomb, that was round 3. This year, Ridge has a good team, and if they stay focused and take it one game at a time, anything can happen.
