Okay, guys...I just had a discussion with someone about wild boars in Texas and the US (yeah, i'm cool). She said that there are an estimated 4 million wild in the US and 2 million in Texas (primarily in the East). Personally, I have never seen a wild boar/hog in my life, but have heard reports of them even coming into the city back in 2004. Do you East Texas guys see this a lot?
There are probably about 24 million people in Texas. The ratio of 12 people to 1 boar seems a little close from my initial perspective.

yep, they're all over the place, even in the panhandle.
That's almost the same ratio as sheep to people in B-CS

My ex-boss went wild boar hunting every year. If memory serves me correctly, he said it's open season on boars all year because of their numbers and the damage they cause.

Yeah, I hear that this dj "Kid Craddik" or w/e bought this new house kind of in the country, and that his yard is being demolished by boars. He had 11 in his yard the other night.

I have seen dead wild boars on the side of some rural roads in the western plains area around Jayton and Haskell.

I know it is spelled differently, but I had to say that since you asked a question you should've known the answer to. I guess you never watched the Dukes of Hazzard because they have a picture of a boar on the Boar's Nest!:D

My Aunt had a lakehouse out at Shirley Creek (Lake Sam Rayburn) jut outside of Lufkin. I used to go down there a lot during the summer. And almost every damn time we went around all those winding roads we would see one or two of them...ugly ********...
So to answer your question...yes...there are a bunch of them in East Texas.
Also saw a red fox, a bunch of coyotes and what looked like a lynx...

This has nothing to do with boars but there's no point starting a new thread.
I just noticed that 671 users were online on Jan. 16...did something happen that day that I don't remember?

I saw that one day and I was on here, but I have no idea why so many were on at one time.

No mentioned that wild boars are as mean as he**, they run in packs, and can very easily kill you with their tusks. If you see one, there's probably more around. This is an animal I wouldn't want to encounter without having a gun.

i personally witnessed a large(200#) sow and a litter of 10 small pigs strip a dead doe my son shot to bone and hide in less than 15 minutes. they would gladly do the same to you given the opportunity. they are very numerous and very much a nuisance over most of the state. they are a very tasty nuisance however, so i suggest everyone kill all they can.
