11-5a vs. 12-5a

On the surface it look like a total mismatch but that is why they the games. Well here is my opinion on each game:

John Tyler vs. Copperas Cove- Cove is a very worthy opponent and they have a very experienced coach in Jack Welch. They are the "lufkin of central texas" in alot of ways. The biggest problem CC will have against JT is can they contain JT's high powered offense. JT has the ability to be a finesse team one minute and go smash mouth the next. JT's spread option attack is very lethal and can wreck a defense quick. Cove is going to have to play a very good assignment football against JT. JT might be the fastest team that CC has seen all year. JT's defense is oppurtunistic and can make life very difficult for alot offenses as well. CC will be ready to play IMO. They have a very discipline team and can give JT some problems. Anyway, I see a very competitve game, but playing at Rose Stadium is going to be difficult for Cove especially on a Friday night on a 4 hour drive. JT is PUMPED big time after a HUGE WIN over a very talented Desoto team. JT is definitely going to bring it Friday no doubt. I say JT by 21.

Tyler Lee vs. A&M Consol.- Lee has really come on in the last month or so and playing some good ball. Owens has them believing they can win. Lee's misdirection attack is going to seriously test AMC's defense. Based on what I have read about AMC, they are a good team and they definitely showed they have talent by going to Cove's house and beating them 21-7. They like to run alot and will definitely give Lee a good game. I think this game is going to be very good also. Both teams played each last year and it was a hard fought game won by Lee. I think this one will be the same way. I can see Lee winning by 7 to 10, but AMC is no slouch.

Desoto vs. Bryan- This could be a very UGLY game for Bryan. Desoto is definitely PISSED after what happened against JT this past Friday. Bryan better try to score with DeSoto or they will be ran straight out of the stadium. The eagles's WR core is absolutely sick and they will put up some huge passing numbers on any team if you don't stay with them. I hate say it but Desoto by atleast 35 points, but you never how things can go.

Mesquite Horn vs. Belton-Belton is the "cinderalla" story this year out of central texas. Horn can be a very problematic team because of their offensive style. Their QB Emory Miller is very good and directs their offense very well. Their coach is also not afraid to gamble(they will do trick plays if you don't watch them). Their D is very suspect at times though. Belton seems to be a good team on the surface and they will definitely be geeked for their first playoff game in years. I have read some things about them and they seem to have a good defense. This game could be interesting. I can see Belton winning this one, but Horn's O can be dangerous.

Well these are my thoughts on all 4 games. Have good one and GOOOO CUUUJJJOOO!!!

We couldnt even beat temple in the regular season, so we`ll probably get slaughtered by desoto. Final score 42-17, desoto rolls in this one.

Cove vs. TJT - If Cove wants to keep it close, they have to play flawless ball. But who knows, anything can happen. I can never pick against Cove despite what my confidence level is. Cove by 7. :rolleyes:

AMC vs. Tyler Lee: Lee has really come on in district play. Lee by 17

Bryan vs. Desoto: Bryan has a big offensive line with lots of Rbs to choose from. If Bryan wants to keep it close, they will have to keep the Desoto offense off the field. But I think Desoto by 21

Belton vs. Horn: Belton has a good, balanced offense with a nasty defense. They will make the stops when they need to. Belton by 10

This is playoff football. Anything can happen!! :notworthy Lets go 12-5A!

the game is friday night at 730 at Mansfield ISD stadium
Mansfield is due south of Arlington

Well it looks like we get a rematch of our first round loss from last year. Its a 2pm Kickoff in Corsicana. I dont really know alot about Lee this year except that that have really turned there season around so we know we will have our hands full.

As for the other teams in 12-5a .
Belton played well against us with there other QB so If Ash dosent play I think they will be ok.
To be honest i feel for who plays Cove. 2 loses in district and no share of the district title the Dawgs will be hungry to prove that was just a stumble not a fall.
Bryan has the ability to be a big play team and if they keep the game close I think they can exit the first round.

I know 11-5a is a stronger district with Desoto and TJT in the top 10 but lets remember we play the games on the field not on paper.

This is an amendment to my last post due to new info.
Cove is playing at Rose in Tyler? When I saw this I thought it was a misprint.
The great thing about the playoffs is that its a neutral site. Any team can beat any team at a neutral site. But to give a team like TJT an extra home game I know it would have been great to have played them at dawg stadium but come on. We won at cove but it was AMC v Cove its always a great game. I know this will sound stupid but unless cove can bring alot of fans to balance out the home town fans its gonna be tough to get a win.
Now with that said I still want very much fro Cove to win and as long the DAWGS show up and not the team that is going to be the lamb to slaughter for TJT.

When I first saw it I thought it was a misprint. But we can look at the positives about it. We can get more rest on the bus and there are no distractions. Im sure JT will have things going on. But as for the fans, theres no way we will equal them with a 4 hour drive on a Friday night. I wish we could play this on Saturday, so we can bring the town but its going to be tough.

Thanks for supporting the other teams in our district, some "homers" continue to bash teams in the same district. I am looking for AMC to win this year agaisnt Lee. Your new QB is the real deal and so are your running backs as well as your O and D Lines. Go Tigers!

I think paysse will be just fine. When Ash went out against Bryan, Paysse came in and didn't miss a beat. We beat Ellison with Paysse. Ash was rusty against Temple, but played very well against Bryan. Either guy can get the job done.

Best of luck to all 12-5A teams. We need Bryan, A&M and Cove to all play well. I am rooting for all the teams.

For me wanting teams from the district is easy. You play the same teams for at least two years and you get to know about some of the kids from those schools you play. And when district starts and you get a team like Cove who you know to be good every year playing a team like TJT and you see that they are in the top 10 in the state. Well if Cove wins you feel pretty good about your team. If Cove loses you know that TJT was no joke and to beat them close or blows them out you have a good idea how your team might do.
See like you know about our fifth string QB someone in Dallas, El Paso, or Lubbock might not know so its good to see how teams and players you know about do. I feel bad for Seastruck he didnt have a good year and neither did Temple so alot of people wont get to see him play till next year in college. Then you take our two JR RB's if we go deep in the playoffs people will know about them not just a stat in a news paper. Same with Ash in Belton. Right now people hear about McCoy in Graham, who is playing well but, because he is Colt's little brother. If Belton does well hopefully people will say that Ash kid can play and next year he will be on a few more radars for college. I like watching a college game and see that a kid I saw in HS play on TV.
