If I am not mistaken Killeen, Temple and Bryan shared a Tri-Championship in 1975 with Killeen going to the playoffs that year.

All 3 of these squads can play some ball, Robert E. Lee included.

I'd love to see a Skyline/DeSoto rematch in the second round.

Longview, JT, & Lufkin in 1974. Longview won the coin flip.

Was Edinburg North not allowed in the playoffs due to a coin flip?

It is set up to take place 2nd round if DeSoto takes care of their opponent (Bryan). Venue of game tba. Cannot wait.

Yes it did! Johnny Tusa had a reputation of scheduling the toughest non district opponents, when he was at Waco High.

Props to Coach Owens!:notworthy

I saw Skyline play DeSoto in the 2nd round last year, in Carrollton. DeSoto was very young but, at the same time, Skyline had some new starters as well.

If both take care of their opponents like I think they will, then I'm thinking that we'll see DeSoto involved in another shootout. Polite and Co. against Hall and Co........ON TURF!

In 1988 Permian, Midland, and Lee tied for the district championship. They determined the two playoff representatives by flipping a coin at a truck stop. Permian and Lee won the flip while Midland was the odd team out. They wound up writing a best-selling book and later made a movie about it.

Happened this year to

Abilene Wylie 4-1
Graham 4-1
Brownwood 4-1

Other teams in the district are Snyder and Sweetwater, yearly contenders and unfortunately: Breckenrigde (the whipping boy). Toughest district in the state IMHO no matter what classification. Since only 3 from this district make the playoffs, it makes it interesting down to the last week. Any of the teams from this district in the POs could make a long run. BTW the Abilene Wylie defense...might be better than any defense in West Texas, regardless of classification. I've seen them play and I mean that whole heartedly, a 3A team with speed to burn and effort/coaching to match any in the state. Those that know Coach Sandifer know that he can coach em up with the best of the best.
