I know I've seen one or two here at times. Do you have the word on when Permian and El Paso Dorado play?

KattTx

Might it be Friday night since they came here on a Friday night last year?

Does anyone know if the EPISD PO teams are going to be using the Sunbowl? I would sure like for Permian to play there. Brand new turf - have it on good authority "it's just like Ratliff". ;)

They do play at the Sun Bowl Katt, but word of caution. They don't open the visitor side do they make the out of town team sit on the home side with the home fans. Annoying, yeah. Then they give the away team the home sidline with the opportunity to be taunted and thrown at. And this was just Lubbock Coronado. They are probably foaming at the mouth if say a, Permian or Midland Lee were to come to the Sun Bowl.

Keep in mind that this is EPISD teams only.

Right, but you mentioned Permian playing at the Sun Bowl which would put Permian against either Franklin or Coronado.

I think the SISD teams play thier play off games at the SAC.

Oh sorry, I was just wishing that the EPISD schools would be playing elsewhere so that we might have a chance to play at the Sunbowl in their absence. Probably just wishful thinking...

No replay board but A nice aquatic center.. for those of us who have been told to go take a swim to cool off.. It was on the calendar page. Since that week isn't here yet, it's not up as the Gameday Central page yet, so you kind of had to go looking for it. As soon as the games are over Friday, I'll have this page complete.

Last week I posted a link to the La Quinta Lomaland, which is just around the corner from the SAC and gets good reviews. $45.00 for a double room when I booked.

Well Any commercial vehicle operator with a CDL should kno first hand the rules and regualitions and permits b4 he or she rolls .. concidering most coaches and or school buses are only licensed for the state of texas .. most should kno first off that u need a day permit to run in the state on new mexico.. usually just 20 bucks or soo. They tend to base it on the amount of miles u plan on traveling thru the state..

These buses were out of Houston and they sucked! Thats not something a High School coach should take care of much less plan for. It was totally the Bus Company's fault.

No I Didn't mean your Coach or Coaches in general.. I ment tour bus Coaches .. i guess thats the way u spell it.. true the tour buss company shoulda had that worked out b4 hand... they dropped the ball .. soo to speak..lol

Also I might Add that tour bus Companys Are alot like truckin companys .. Alot of them hire guys fresh out of driven schools generaly 4 to 6 weeks And Do not kno a whole lot of nuthen.. And concidering that most school districts are always tryen to cut corners And budgett the cheapest buses then you get what you pay for.. most charge by the mile.. and theres alot of undercutten going on.. soo if the school system Is lookin for the cheapest rates then you generaly gonna get a company that has very inexperinced drivers.

I make this drive quite often and I really don't mind it at all. The first hour (from Odessa) is the most boring. The rest of the way, at least there is variation in the landscape and you have a little something to look at. There is rarely construction going West like there is going East. The speed limit is 80 (daytime) the entire way save for Ector and El Paso county and traffic's not bad like it can get on I-20.

One word of caution... weekends are BAD in regards to the Do-Right boys. They are usually thickest from Sierra Blanca on in to El Paso. I have seen on one Friday afternoon 17 patrolling that stretch of highway at the same time! That only counted for one unmarked - saw him because I happen to pass him.

I'll have you know that I never go more than 5 miles over the speed limit. I usually set the cruise at 83 or so and the smokies don't seem to mind that. But as for going to El Paso, I have always loved that drive once you started getting into the foothills of the mountains.

El Hubbo did his basic there and was later stationed there, so I have been making that drive for over 20 years. It's much better now than it was then.:p

Though El Dorado is going to have about the same district finish as they did last year, they are vastly improved. Especially defensively. They are the only team to shut down EP coronados offense and hold them to 10 points. Kilgore is a great RB and McFarland is getting serious looks from the 'Horns in Austin to lend his duties at WR after his senior year next year.

1-5A is probably the strongest I have ever seen it this year. Lets hope they prove me right come playoff time.

EL PASO -- District 1-5A already has its four playoff teams set, but 1-4A, 2-4A and 4-3A still have spots up for grabs going into the final game of the season. From there, the schools with higher enrollment will be placed in Division I of the playoff brackets, while those with lower enrollment will go to Division II.
Here is a district-by-district breakdown:

District 1-5A

Coronado (7-0) has clinched the district title and the top seed in Division II. Montwood, which is tied for second place with El Dorado and Franklin (all three are 5-2), is the lower seed.

In Division I, El Dorado can seal the higher seed with one more win. Franklin would take the lower seed. They can swap spots with a Cougars win and Aztecs loss.

Both my wife and I were born in El Paso and we met and married there many moons ago. We both still have family there and I always have a soft spot in my heart for the 'ol border city. Certainly no disdain for any of the EP teams from me. As far as football goes, I am going to support my old mates from the former LSWC when it comes playoff time. I am pulling for them. However, I really expect 1-5A and 2-5A to split the 4 games next weekend. I really believe that OHS will win and I ain't sayin who I think the other 2-5A winner will be. ;) Good luck to all of you! key for Coronado is the Weatherford-Burleson game...if Weatherford wins and makes the playoffs Abilene goes D1 and Coronado avoids Abilene I think they have a shot to get to round 3

what are the odds of that happening?

Im cheering for all EP Teams in bi-dristrict. Does anybody know if Coronado or any EP team makes it 3rd deep if they would be playin in Dallas? I live in Dallas but graduated from Montwood. I would love to see and EP team play here. What are the possiblities ???

If a El Paso team team makes it to the second third or the fourth round I'm betting you play at Ratliff or at Grande. Chance of a El Paso team making it to the third round, about 25 percent or less.

You could throw Abilene and Lubbock in the mix too.

True. Abilene would be good. It's a whopping 151 miles from D/FW to Abilene and only 443 miles from El Paso to to Abilene. If the pick is Lubbock thats a decent pickit's 293 from D/FW or 344 Miles from El Paso.

Grande is 303 from D/FW and 301 from El Paso. Ratliff is 281 from El Paso and 323 from D/FW. Halfway makes no sense at all.

A old Indian told me thats why they named Midland, Midland. Because it's halfway between El Paso Coronado and Allen:eek:Highschool.

There you are. There is to be a lot of action in El Paso this week end. My concern is Saturday, only. You can't tell with our little ole kids who will get on the bus to make the trip West. I expect only about 500 Permian fans to make the trip. Will El Darado fill in the rest of the place?

Yeah ELDO has a good following gonna be a good game .. Good luck to both teams. Hopefully the 1-5A teams come to play 4 quarters and make all games interesting and competitive.
