Carroll coach Todd Dodge gave me the particulars: The Evangel Christian game will be on ESPN. Since Texas schools can’t do one-year contracts, that leaves the Dragons with an even more stellar opponent in 2007.

The Dragons will be playing national power Concord De La Salle, Calif. tenatively at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium. ESPN will also televise.

Well this is a reach since you can never really tell what type of team either will have then.SLC should have a good team but what about the California kids.

DLS is always one of California top #4 programs every year. They will have a good solid team. They "recruit" even though many of their supporters wont admit that. I have a co-worker that graduated from DLS and he is the first to tell anyone that DLS gives financial aid "scholarship" to athletes.

I do think SLC will beat them though. Maybe even bigtime.

These games are here to stay.. They will happen every year. Dont worry, over the next couple of months there will be a few more Texas H.S vs ??? games.

PS. Right now (for the next few years) Texas is on the hotlist for alot of other States. I think the movie "Friday Night Lights" had alot to do with it.

Too true Too true.

Longview gets West Monroe on their schedule...another Louisiana team. I can't even think of the last time we haven't had a Louisiana team on our schedule. Early 90s? Before 96 I know.

i agree..im not a big fan of this, but hell, as long as we dont have to travel, and its pre-distrcit, this game has almost no meaning, its built for the fans..should be some fun though..remeber the first game against DR when it was on espn? i expect that kind hype for this game

there will be more. Since 2002 the local media has wanted the Carroll vs. ECA game to happen. Now that is actually coming I am sure that the local papers will be previewing it starting at the beginning of the football season.

i guess this is a win-win for carroll IMO..we satisfy the media by playing out of state teams..PLUS we dont travel they come to us

both games, the next two years will be great games! no matter the winner its just a great thing to happen for Texas High School Football and the nation to see the #1 team play and prove itself once again

Too be honest the more intresting part of this story is Evangel. Recent history has us expecting state contenders from Carroll every year. Hovever the ECA of late looks like a shell of its former self, however if one thing was on display this year was the resurgence of formerly proud programs. In other words whether this is really going to be a good game or the rout we have typically seen outta Carroll's televised games is dependent mostly on which Evangel shows up. If its any indication I see myself probably watching the Lufkin/Longview game.
