Overall, this move was for the better--just not in football, and not for travel times.

However, I see Jesuit being competitive...we've got a really strong group of juniors and seniors for next year...and our JV was undefeated.

I won't venture to say that we'll win a district title next year, but a top 3 finish might not be that far out.

This is not a slight to you, but I am just wondering why everybody always has a great JV?

(lol) I can hear the head coach telling the AD, after going 2-8, "yeah, but we had a great JV team!!"

Welcome, Dallas Jesuit, to powerhouse District 7-5A. The top three teams in our district last year are expected to be strong again in 2006. Last year MacArthur only lost two games - to State Champions Trinity and SLC. South Grand Prairie was the only team to beat Trinity last year.
Good luck!

Oh goodness, the privates gonna get to play with the big boys!! But remember, they don't care much about the athletics, just academics and the chance to compete:rolleyes: Well, here is your chance:D

If ya'll haven't gotten any faster...don't expect to be too competitive.

The Jesuits play in 7 and 17(5a). Both are strong districts. I wouldn't be feeling sorry for them. Rather, I would be preparing for them. Granted, they both have their hands full in strong districts, but they come to play, and they love the underdog role. That is what we in 195a expirienced with Strake this last season. They were one game shy of sharing a district title with us.

And yes I know they didn't play Katy because of a Hurricane; but the record and two rounds deep in the playoffs speak for itself. They took CyFalls deep into that second round game and Katy barely pulled out a come from behind victory in the third round against CyFalls. The Jesuits are not to be over looked.

Jesuit's head coach is very excited about his new district. He expected to be with the Lewisvilles and the Carrollton schools, but he said the UIL switched Coppell from Jesuit's new district to the one Jesuit expected to be moved to. However, he said the competition will be awesome. he does think 7-5A will be more competitive from top to bottom than the old 10-5A, but he thinks having four schools make the playoffs gives everyone in the new 7-5A a fighting chance. He said he only knows two schools well: SGP, whom Jesuit played twice in 2002 and 2003, and Trinity, whom he watched in the playoffs. I also don't think he has ever boasted about his team's JV record. Jesuit has played a tough schedule in football for many, many years. 2006 will be no different. It will be a challlenge, but as a fan of Jesuit, I expect good things. Don't feel too sorry for Jesuit because I don't think they are feeling sorry right now. As he said, "we are happy to be in a great district in a great league."

Why in the world did Jesuit schedule Berkner in non-district!?!? Bad decisions...aren't y'all gonna have enough district losses?

I do not feel sorry for Jesuit. If they want to play in the real high school districts, then they should play where it does not inconvenience any other school. If a private school wants to play with the public schools, then the needs of the private school should be the last consideration.

If a private school wants to play with the public schools, then the needs of the private school should be the last consideration.Looks like the UIL feels the same way you do... I'm betting they made the districts and then took the Jesuit schools and stuck them in the closest district that had less than 8 teams without much consideration for any of the teams involved, ESPECIALLY the Jesuit schools... But it also looks to me like that was the easiest approach since neither Jesuit school has more than one team to consider for same district placement.

But, you SHOULDN'T feel sorry for the Jesuit schools... I don't think either school wants anyone's pity. And it's like you admit, the UIL is "real high school" athletics... No other league like it in Texas... THAT's the reason the Jesuit schools couldn't be legally excluded. I'm glad you understand that. Just wish everyone else could see it as clearly as you do... :)

The UIL obviously doesn't care about the rest of 7-5A either.

It's a 30 minute drive from all of those schools to Jesuit...and can get to be up to an hour with traffic.

They should have put Jesuit in district 6, and put Coppell in district 7 where they were last alignment.

However, if there were politics involved, the UIL obviously only thought of football. That district will be a joke in the country club sports and in sports like soccer and baseball.

Jesuit might not be competitive in football, but they'll be competitive in everything else, and outright dominant in a large number of sports.

This district may not even turn out to be that great this year anyway. It is possible for Jesuit to be competitive in football especially since four teams make the playoffs.

So TAPPS is imaginary? The 200+ private schools in the state are just pretending that they are playing in a league, while really, the UIL is the only real one?

If a private school wants to play with the public schools, then the needs of the private school should be the last consideration.

Actually, Jesuit received full membership from the UIL when they accepted us. So actually our needs should receive equal consideration to the 1300 public and charter schools.

However, you won't see us complain. Especially because we'll be dominant in tennis, golf, swimming, soccer, and possibly some other sports as well.

Jesuit won't complain, but that doesn't mean that the alignment makes sense. Anyone who knows where North Dallas is knows that it is nowhere near Irving, Grand Prairie, or Euless.

It's riddiculous that the UIL would want to inconvenience the rest of the district when there are several closer options. But we won't complain...we're not driving 6 hours like San Angelo Central.

Why isn't Jesuit placed in the district with the other Dallas schools?

the only district that would be more reasonable for dj to have entered would have been the disd district. coppell is directly in the middle of the cfbisd and lisd district. coppell is only very slightly closer to the iisd , gpisd and heb district, than dj. actually, based on the relatively lower attendance at disd games, the dj crackerbox stadium would be plenty large enough. single member districts are always at risk to be inconvenienced. like people have said, it could be a lot worse.

Why isn't Jesuit placed in the district with the other Dallas schools?

There isn't any official UIL policy, but the coaching staff at our school believes it is because of the huge socio-economic gap between Jesuit and the other DISD schools.

I'd love to be in a district with the DISD schools. WT White High School is 2 blocks down the street, and that would be a great rivalry. We've played them in the past, but not in the last several years.

That district would be outright dominated by Jesuit in almost every sport. Carter would win football, but Jesuit would have a fighting chance to take 2nd from Skyline. In basketball, Jesuit could get 3rd, behind Carter and Skyline. There might be a battle in baseball between Jesuit and White, but other than that, Jesuit would completely dominate the district. Could you imagine the district golf meet? The tennis meet? The swim meet?

Yeah, that would be sweet:cool: The "under"privileged getting beat down by the "over"privileged!! Country Club sports?? Jeeze!

Over the long haul, Jesuit will be much tougher because of this district. A season or two, then they will be able to hang tough. Most of their football games have been tough contests anyway. Just because there is a couple outstanding teams in the new district, my guess is that it won't be that big of a deal in a season or two. They will quickly learn how to step it up.
