KT you guys havent shown much love to the ahs offense so far, and i can understand it to an extent given the quality of the district we are in, but Herschel Sims just went for 278 yards on 21 carries! can i get a hallelujah?! or at least some recognition in player of the week? the kid is a beast and i swear to you the next big thing out of this great state. i'll buy you and chill tickets and beer afterwards if you'll come out and watch what i've been screamin about since he was in 7th grade.

Give them time. They have a lot of players to watch on their plate but I think they are watching Sims from the corner of their eyes. If he makes a bang during the playoffs, you can bet all eyes and ears will be his way.

He was pulled in the third, or did he play some in the 4th this game? I lost track of the timeline.

Probably the most electric back in the state - agreed!

Actually it was 19 carries for 281 yards (4th most in school history behind Sneezy Beltran) with 4 TDs. :notworthy:

I don't remember seeing Herschel play after that 78 yard TD in the 3rd. Herschel is definitely oneof the top backs in the state. I'd say he is in the top 3 high school RBs I have ever seen in person.

He's a good one. I really hope Abilene goes DI and ends up with Trinity in round 4. I'm very certain he does get 278 against the Trojans.

I was also impressed with the TE #44 Abilene has.

TE #44 is SR Parker McKay. He is having a great season as AHS has discovered TE position. McKay was a starting LB last season.

Abilene high should have discovered the TE back when Ben Gibbs was playing. He had as good of hands as anyone and now is tearing it up as ACU's receiving TE.

#44 is definetly an added weapon the offense. Very good in the playaction game. He should start to get more college attention after his performance against Haltom and the wilson kid. McCay went toe to toe with him all night. He has great hands as well and a toughness factor that he brought over with him from the defensive side. The kid is a player!

Tech isn't exactly a top RBs dream school under Mike Leach. As stated before he really likes Miami and Oklahoma. I hope he doesn't leave the state though, preferably in College Station.

Actually he was real big on OU but UT has brought him down for many games this year and Hershel hung out with Major Applewhite and Major told Herschel that he keeps doing what hes doing that he will receieve an offer from Texas. UT is known not to offer before the incoming class actually signs on.

Good Read on Hershel and University of Texas

no one from abilene should ever settle for tech, they are too good for that. hats off to leach for fooling lyle and taylor into thinking they didnt deserve better.

i hope to god that UT offers Herschel soon and that they really make him feel wanted because he is the next adrian peterson in almost every aspect of his game. i've watched him since elementary and he has always been a man amongst boys and he is a good with a very good heart and the desire to be the best. i hope he succeeds beyond his wildest dreams and he is on track to do so, and its up to Mack whether or not those tracks make a stop in Austin or Norman. the land thieves have had their eyes on him for awhile, i recall his freshman year the pagans were in the stands, so i would think its between either.

Great kid. My son has had classes with him and no attitude at all. Friendly and socializes with everyone.

And Ronnell is a member of the National Honor Society.

Good job men!

Yeah!.... I posted it on several threads then decided hell, just start a thread on its own. Nothing personal, I thought the signature was pretty funny to start with....just thought it was funnier that your signature changed with the QB change.

Gentlemen! I can tell you this kid is gonna shake up the mix! Lets remember that his stats as impressive as they are could be at least 25% better! First, he has not played much in the 4th quarter if at all! I think Cooper and maybe Burleson where the only games he saw time in the 4th. Second, lets not forget Abilene is a game behind everyone due to a rainout with Plano East. So, you could add 2 1/2 games of stats to whatever he ends up with at the end of the season! I think he is still averaging 10 yards a carry!! Come on, it is time to give this kid his due and get over the West Texas bias!

The University of Texas is crazy if they let this kid get away! He has all the athletic ability they want and the character to go with it! Great Kid!

I will have to agree, he is impressive. His low center of gravity makes him hard to bring down by one tackler. He never gives up on a run, neither AHS backs do. They will be tough the rest of the way this year and all of next.

It was Taylor Potts way back when and then Sheffield took hold of this team.

Coming back from a serious concussion is not as easy as it may seem. It was good to see Potts play well the other day.

I understand that Potts is capable but the energy Sheffield brought and how he played overshadowed Potts. And now the fan base expects the same out of Potts and his style of play is just different.

Potts got thrown under the bus. Tech fans and Leach are nuts. For a kid who was leading the nation in passing, still in the top three in b 12 South qb efficiency rating, What did he do but get injured and play behind a line that can't or will not protect him, and outplay McCoy on National TV. IMHO Leach has lost control when receivers are giving interviews and commenting on their preference at qb. Tech has a problem and its not Potts. Its more of a fickle fan base and a fruit cake coach. I doubt there will be many more from Abilene make their way to the Hub city after seeing both. Contrast that with the way Stoops or Mack Brown would have handled it. Just my opinion ..... you can probably tell I'm kinda done with Tech.

To each his own I guess. Then again, this board absolutely LOVES to hate on Tech.

Sheffield's play did him in, IMO.

Remember that this is the first time in recent memory that Tech has every had a Qb injured, much less three start in the same season. We're bound to get "fickle".
