They don't stand a chance. I know they are 4a. It is their 1st year as well as Katy Morton Ranch to play varsity. I think they would be more successfull playing with the rest of their siblings.
Lucky for me I get to see them play the 4a power houses close to my home.

How long until they can come home to play with the rest of the Katy family?
Do they have to wait until the next redistricting?

well, this is a 5A football board, but since the topic has been put out there, let me give my take.
this is the first year that Seven Lakes has been open. they currently have 913 students enrolled as freshmen and sophomores, and expect an enrollment near 1500 students by the fall of 2006. No way they can play 5A football with those kinds of numbers, so thats why they are starting out as a 4A high school.
they will have a tough district, 24-4A, which features Bay City, El Campo, and Lamar Consolidated ISD schools Foster, Lamar Consolidated and Terry.
Lamar and Terry had breakthrough seasons last year, and Bay City fell off a bit. Foster had a 12-1 season two years ago, and fell off last year. The good thing for Seven Lakes is that the head coach, Kevin O'keefe, has already been done this road when he was the head coach of Hightower High in Fort Bend ISD during there first varsity season and led them to five straight playoff apperances, including a regional final in his second year, and two district titles.

So then it sounds like it's 2008 or 2009 before they will have the numbers and can qualify to move up... Also sounds like it'll be good experience for them before they move up to 5A...

thats pretty much correct....all of the students at Seven Lakes were previously zoned to Cinco Ranch..a handful were zoned to Katy, and with all the new neighborhoods out there that are being built (Grayson Lakes, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes, and others) they will defintely be a 5A high school during the next line or realingments two years from now in 2008.
I think their first game next year is against Morton Ranch, and their second game is against Magnolia West, another new 4A high school in the Houston area. Wouldnt be suprised if they play a school from Fort Bend or Spring Branch ISD's since coach O'keefe has ties to both.

I think Coach O'keefe could have got his team up to beat Morton, Mayde, and probably 1 or 2 Alief Schools in 5a.
But we'll trash the 'Coat of many colors' and send 'Joseph' out into the wilderness to become who he is suppose to become.
Terry and Lamar (Old Old School) will defineately welcome them to Texas HighSchool Football.
