I see the Packers having a great game, Aaron Rogers showing Brett why the quarterback of the Packers is always great, and i agree with the Vikings leaving Lambeau 6-2

why the hostility? i understand he left green bay, but i don't remember him ever saying he would never ever play for another team. (correct me if i'm wrong, not a big GB fan)
i see the viqueens in the one. the roid-rager on defense will be in rogers face all day, and the "good ole' boy" will be slangin passes as long as AD can get a few yards on first down. that's the formula.

The issue isn't Favre vs Rodgers. The Pack had a right to make a decision, especially given the seasons of status drama, and they made one. The correct one. Rodgers is wonderful. As it applies to this game, though, it's the junk butts that will make the difference. It's why the Vikes will leave 7-1. Both lines for Minny are superior to their counterparts by the Bay of Green. Rodgers will have opportunity to move the ball but I'm unconvinced he will have time.

Favre is going to take Rodgers to school.....again.....
Traitor? Here I was thinking Favre tried to come back and was told that if he decided to return he would return as a backup with no opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback position...
Favre wins... that o-line has nothing on the Vikings DL.

We sometimes forget about a child's love of the game. Although, our fire may be dim, his passion for the game keeps him playing. The indecision is what most of us can identify with, as we couldn't see our 40 something bodies out there in the fray with the 20 sometings that seem to get bigger, stronger, and faster each year.
Way to go Brett.

I must first say that I think the GM and coach in GB are scum, but Favre has been a real jerk the last few years. I was in Green Bay a few weeks ago and they had zero Favre stuff around town. They should boo him.

I still do have 2 of them. I also have his USM card. I was thinking of giving them away, maybe I'll hold onto them.

I get the annoyance with the guy but I fail to see how has been a jerk. He retired from Green Bay and then changed his mind and he decided to come back. He isn't the first guy to un-retire and he certainly won't be the last. Green Bay essentially told him they had moved on without him, would not be giving him the chance to compete for the starting job, and wouldn't trade him to a decent team. Who is the jerk?
I get the whole signing with the Green Bay rival but seeing as he wasn't given an opportunity to continue his playing days in Green Bay I can't fault for him that.

Favre comes off as an attention getting a-hole most of the time, but I do give him props he is playing pretty good.
I think the packers made the right choice in moving forward with Rodgers, regardless of how well the old man plays.
Favre would have probably gotten hurt by now if he was still on the packers(with their o-line).
As far as all the booing he deserves to get booed, it's a rivalry, I'm sure he will get treated nicely after he retires.

All of this. Favre and his diva act can wear very thin. The Pack chose to go with Rodgers and he's done nothing but flourish. Your point about the oline is the key. Favre would not make it back there. Remember he's playing with the best rb in the league behind one of the top 3 lines in the league. You also cannot stress enough the importance of being in a dome a guaranteed 10 times a year(Minny & Detroit). Those old bones are not dealing with nearly as much weather. I admire what he is accomplishing but never forget he's under ideal circumstances.

True his accomplishments are hollow due to a deficiency in the win column. I would argue, though, that the record would be the same and the offense far worse with 4 still on the tundra. It's not Rodgers fault the offensive line is offensive, the running game spotty and the defense toothless. He's doing a good job executing his portion of the formula. You cannot argue that there has been positional fall off at qb during this transition.

what other parts were missing from the 13 win packers besides brett? packer fan will blame brett and/or thompson for the fall off. hollow stats are only useful in contract negotiations.

13 wins in 07 guarantees you exactly nothing for the 08 season and even less than that in 09. Ask Dallas. Understand, I'm not a Packers fan, can't stand that the purple on the Vikes jersey's doesn't match the purple on their helmets, don't play fantasy football which means I don't worship Rodgers and prefer Aikman to Favre. I have no dog in this fight. It was a business decision, nothing more, and GB owes nobody an explanation. Favre contributed to his own demise there with his continued drama and on again off again playing status. They liked what they saw in Rodger, a player over a decade younger, and decided any more time with Favre would basically be tenous and of the borrowed variety. Good for them. Good for him for finding places to continue his career. Good for him for the fine season he is turning in. All I'm saying is that behind that line and with a defense that is still looking to replicate that 07 performance, GB would be in the same boat they currently find themselves in. 20 years olds with a bad wing and busted thumb don't last when they're getting hit 10-12 times a game and throwing 35-40, let alone 40 year olds.

This is how I saw it. Favre initially wanted to come back and play for the Packers and Ted T. told him he could definitely come back and watch Rodgers play. WTF do people expect Favre to do? He was good enough to take the Packers to the NFC title (or w/e he did) the previous year but now he's not good enough to even get a chance to compete for the starting job? I don't like Favre at all but that was bushleague and I was glad he ended up with the Vikings if only to say "F*** YOU" to Ted T. who wouldn't trade him to a decent team.

I'm sure there were aspects of power and control all over the decisions that were made but don't ignore the fact that Rodgers was sitting there, as a #1 pick, with a contract that was about to expire and the Pack had no idea whether or not his showings in practice would translate to game time. Couple that with Favre being on about his third offseason of holding an entire organization hostage with his retirement decision and there it is. It was in the best interest of the corporation known as the Green Bay Packers to move on. TT may be a huge jerk with a need to overcompensate. I have no idea. What I know is that a 38 year old qb, who had been great in 07 but otherwise erratic for four seasons, retired. They had a young, former #1 pick groomed for the job. They passed the torch and moved on. Big deal. I tend to lean towards the side that has not flipped flopped for 5 consecutive off seasons now, including two official retirement speeches complete with tears and tissue.
