The UIL voted to divide 2A up. I thought this would start with 5A but guess 2A gets to be the guinea pig.http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/highschool/2009/10/27/1027uil.html

Bucking the trend of expanding the Texas high school football playoffs, Class 2A schools will trim their postseason from 96 teams to 64 for the 2010 season.
The UIL Legislative Council announced Monday that Class 2A superintendents voted 121-75 in a binding referendum to make the change. Right now, three teams qualify for the playoffs from each of the 32 Class 2A districts, a total of 96 teams. In each district, the team representing the school with the highest enrollment is slotted into the Division I playoffs. The other two schools from each district compete in the Division II playoffs.
Under the new system, only two teams from each district will qualify for the 2010 playoffs. Class 2A will be a split into 16 Division I and 16 Division II districts. The total number of playoff teams thus will be 64 32 from each division.
