As much as I was dreading this, my boys got moved back into Austin... I don't know many of you Austin board members so we might as well start getting to know eachother... hopefully you guys are as cool as the guys from the SA area. Anyways, lets discuss our district and possible playoff teams... I know Westlake will be right up there in the top of the district. San Marcos will be okay... but they lost a lot and I see a down year for them... possibly even missing the playoffs.

X-Seguin
X-San Marcos
X-Westlake
Austin High
Austin Akins
Austin Anderson
X-Austin Bowie
Bastrop

I don't have enough info to make a great prediction, but I am going to put an X next to my playoff teams... Let me know your predictions.

Westlake will have very good offensive team back, and will improve vastly on defense with most of ther DL back and some better speed at LB and in the secondary.

Bastrop was the third playoff team out of 16-5A last year and should return a pretty good team.

The best team could end up being Austin High. They were very young last year and played everyone well. I saw them play Westlake and they played them to a tie at halftime. They should compete for the district title.

Bowie always has more kids and the most potential, but they don't do much with what they have.

San Marcos will do fine. We lost a lot of starters but there is talent in the pipeline.

Looking at the points per game given up by each team in our district, other than Seguin, there looks to be a lot of bad defenses.

Westlake will certainly be the "team to beat" in our district. They are a playoff lock.

Austin High may be good from what you say... could make the playoffs... they seemed to have a decent defense in comparison to the other teams in that district last year but a sub-par offense.

Seguin's defense is going to be absolutely stacked next year and that in its-self should carry them to the playoffs. Offense should be better, have a good running back coming back and a really good reciever coming back. The quaterback situation will be better but the O-line lost 3 of their 5 starters... if the online can get it together it will be a decent offense.

San Marcos lost Jordan Walker along with that other good back they have and for the first time in years they aren't coming in with a "stud" rb. Their system can still be effective but they also lost a ton on defense; I think this is a rebuilding year for them but they may be able to sneak into the playoffs as the 4th team.

Akins and Anderson look to be non-factors.

I don't know much about Bastrop.

Bowie, from what I remember back in the days, has some pretty good athletes and could make a decent run at things.
