Sounds like some of the coaches feel like helping the players get into College is part of the job. Coach Jordon at Garland said over 60 college scouts were at the Garland spring game last year.

For those of you who might be interested, you can go to GarlandOwls.com and click on the little football helmet in the Athletics section, and then click on the Video Vault tab and see a nice highlight reel of every game Garland played in the 2004 and 2005 seasons, set to some Hip-Hop and Rock music. Even for this old 48 year old, I really enjoyed the highlights and the music.

Rough, how can we win state titles when we have to get them back in lock-up after the first round of the playoffs each year? The TDC doesn't allow us to keep the good players long enough. You know that......you always talk about it.......WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!!:D :D

BTW, now that the UIL has expanded to 4 playoff teams per district, maybe you guys can cash that first playoff ticket.......huh........OOPS......Rockwall got added to our district......MAYBE NOT, HUH?

Garland's coaching staff needs to be commended. Year in and year out they work very hard getting kids exposure and into college. Saw a very interesting stat in the Dallas Morning News. Listed area schools that had the most D1 signees. The top five were SLC with 10, Carter with 7, S Garland with 6, HP with 6, and SGP with 5. The Owls this year beat 2 out of the 5. This is not to say that the Owls aren't talented, because we all know they are. But give them credit for beating teams that are just as or more talented than they are.

That contradicts the statements from your coaches blog!! 57 college players signed in the last 4 years and you are claiming to be getting blood out of a turnip??? Doesn't add up!!

Nice to see you again, Roughy...

Question: Why compliment the accomplishments of the SG student athletes who signed on one thread and not compliment the accomplishments of teh GHS students on another? Is it less of an accomplishment to sign if a Garland student than it is if you are a South Garland student. I realize your purpose in life is to tweak Owl fans, but why not at least give the students some respect for their accomplishments? Just wondering.

There he is:) When I said, "great accomplishment to get a scholarship", I was meaning that in a general way (anyone that received one). Of course I would want to congratulate all of GISD!!
I knew if I showed up, you wouldn't be far behind:D

Well Rough, once again you are talking for others. You have said many times before that the Owls never beat anybody with equal or greater talent. I am just stating facts. Yes, the Owls are very talented. Yes, the Owls have had many kids sign over not only the last 4 years, but since 1992. By no means do the Owls have a monopoly on the talent in GISD. What I am saying is that the Garland coaches work overtime getting these kids recognized and exposed so that they may have an opportunity to further their education and playing experiences.
