Since this message board really has more to do with certain homers representing their teams, as opposed to true analysis and statistical breakdowns, which teams do you think has the GREATEST amount of homers consistently boosting their team?

It is in proportion to the success of the team. Permian and Plano are down, so, not many posters right now.

Katy has always been strong, so alot of posters touting Katy.

Lufkin is down after the past three years for similar reasons - no deep PO runs. And, SLC is way off too in terms of numbers, for a somewhat similar reason.

SLC and Katy, hands down, they're at the top ...

Way way behind is a group consisting of the following:

Euless Trinity
Allen
Plano
Permian
Pearland
SV
SA Madison

When I hear "homer", I think of the fan who touts their own kids and team above all others, no matter what.

A couple of years ago, there was a thread here about who was the best kicker in the state. I said Quinn Sharp, who was ranked #1 by Rivals. Tons of Westlake fans hooted and hollered about the greatness of Randy Bullock and how he was really so much better.

Randy is now on the verge of losing his scholarship at A&M and Quinn is leading the nation in punting and kick-offs at OSU.

So, my vote is for the Westlake fans as the biggest homers.

And in response to an earlier comment, I've found the Trinity fans on this site to be some of the most logical and reasonable thinking posters here. Sure they love their team, but they know their football too and don't always think their kids or team are better no matter what.

Katy has to be the biggest homers on the board, followed closely by SLC. But both contingents give props to their opponents for playing good games or if they even lose to them(most of the time.... unless its The Woodlands or Coppell;):D). I wont speak for my brethren, but I myself am a no doubt HOMER and proud of it.

I can't help but agree that of all the state championship teams in a recent ten year history, Trinity folks seem to be the most balanced.
Now that may be because some contingents are so large that you inevitably have to have a few obnoxious or rabid homers.
Then again......since we've never won one maybe it's a "stumbling block" to me being a "Frankenstein" too.:)

But my definition of a homer is that when passion clouds your judgement. But that is not a bad thing if you can rationalize a little.

My vote is for Katy, but I also think that has a lot to do with their State Championships. I also believe that each of the teams you selected has some very knowledgable posters. SLC would come in a close second. The only team that I would consider adding to your list would be North Shore. North Shore has a great fan base that is very loyal and several great posters IMO.

Not so much. Of course, I don't either as my son graduated from Summit and my other kids now go to one of the 4A Mansfield schools.

But threads like "Who's the best kicker..." or "Who is the most underrated this or that..." is where the homers come out in full bloom as they tout their kid to the heavens without knowing anything about anyone else.

I had to vote for SLC because of their fan numbers and back when they were "untouchable" nearly every thread was about the Dragons.
Katy holds the #2 spot.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments about Trinity posters. We are still in the mindset that any accomplishments are "icing on the cake." We are also influenced by our humble leader, Coach Lineweaver, who helps keep us grounded and facing reality.:notworthy

I don't think anyone would seriously agree that Skyline has the largest group of homers on this board. I count maybe four people whose number of posts (collectively) don't even equal your total number of posts.
