But the UIL in it's wisdom has us in the district with Killeen, Brownwood and the three Waco schools (Waco, University,and Midway). They put Lampasses in 25-4A. From Killeen and Cove you have to drive through Lampasses to get to Brownwood.

Yeah, that didn't make sense. But at least the speculation is over. When I read KDH this morning, I thought we were gonna remain 5A, going by Coach Welch's comments. But at least it will be a one time thing, again, according to Welch.

I know it is purely academic for most of the posters on this board -- and I will miss you guys -- but the 7 team crap didn't hold in 4A either. Copperas Cove is aligned with all three Waco Schools, Killeen, and Brownwood for a grand total of SIX! And, Cove has to drive through Lampasas (only 20 miles from home/we share ISD boundaries and Lampasas students actually live in Cove) to get to Brownwood.

Meanwhile Lampasas is in an 8 team district, let's see if there are any appeals on that one. Guess we will get 5 non-district games? Try if yo will to imagine a State Champion (any team) with a 10-0 record (not counting the non-district games?)

Oh, and for those who love to hate Cove...It looks like our road to State will go through Highland Park :D ! Now that will be a real dustup.

And Lufkin, we'll miss that possible matchup more than you know. Well, maybe you DO know with your SLC curse.

I'd like not to be a stranger...How about a 4A Texas Football.Com admins?:D

I agree LR. If Cove thinks they're gonna have an easier time because they're in 4A now, they'd be mistaken. It is really hard to win a state title, in any classification.

Trust me the players, dont think of 4a being any easier! Im kinda glad, because now this years team doesnt even get a chance to be as good as our team was. :) Even though 4a is strong also, you do have to admitt that the district we are going into is a lot weaker. Yes Waco will be bad ***, but the other teams, to be honest, plain out suck. I know Coach Welch will do the smart thing and schedule 5a teams, and top 4a teams in non-district, so we wont be a joke. Jus expect Waco, and Cove in the playoffs every year. Waco has got some sick young talent and its going to be a blast watching that game next year. Well its not fair to say all the teams suck. How good is Brownwood and Midway? Those are the only teams I dont know about.

Brownwood is no joke. And just try to remember through your "best year ever" haze how BIG all those sophomores from Waco High were. And the 3 OTs.

Cove will not be cocky. Congrats on your good season. Remember it. Come back for old timers week. See if it holds up.

Not saying it will happen, but a State Championship game (even withou a win) in 4A WOULD trump a Quarterfinals game in
5A. IMHO.

At least the Cove-Waco rivarly is still in tact......Waco High is going to kick butt in 4-A and I can't wait. At least this Cove player knows what he is talking about......the talent for the next two years at Waco will be amazing! Most were sophomores in 2006.....

You finally got your wish centex congrats! I expect Waco to be a top 10 to top 5 team in 4a. Marshall turned back into a power when they went to 4a a few years back. Been to 2 straight 4a div1 finals. Longview still dominates them yearly.

Ennis and Cove are probably the Division 1 (Large School) representatives.

Killeen will have another off year next year. They lost most of their talent on offense.

It's official COVE is 4A so I will have to wait 2 years to talk trash up here except for our wins over 5A teams next year which will include Harker Height and Shoemaker. Good luck to all you people and see you in 2!!!!

PS. Of course I will have to continue talking trash on the college and NFL side!!!
