The Hornets will forfeit their remaining games (3), following a forfeit to state ranked Muleshoe last week. It was orginally stated that they forfeited the game against Muleshoe, due to the flu striking the team and leaving them with a shortage of players, but it also appears there are other issues as well.

The release stated: "The Tulia ISD has regretfully determined that it is necessary to cancel our remaining varsity football games due to the low number of participants. Injuries, failures, sickness, and a lack of commitment on some player's part who have quit or been removed from the program have brought us to this point. We apologize for the inconvenience that this causes our scheduled opponents and to our fans."

weird that the coach has been there 12 years.

That sucks for the Tulia players, not to mention their opponents who also lose a game to play.

Update:

Tulia's head coach Eric Wilson has resigned after 12 years. Gotta be a tough situation over there and there's no doubt some underlying issues that I dont care to discuss, as most would just be speculation at this point.

Eric Wilson has resigned as head football coach at Tulia High - effective Oct. 27 - after 12 seasons, he said Saturday.

''It's been a good time for me and my family these past dozen years or so,'' he said. ''When I came here, they were struggling and we turned it around some and were able to do some good things.

''We struggled on the field the last couple of years. I guess it's time for me to go in a different direction.''

Anton, another west Texas town, has also cancelled their season for the same reasons.
