Weak district besides Lufkin and The Woodlands. Lufkin will have plenty of non district games this year. (4) I hope they can get some good ones.

I thought teams are allowed to play 10 games during the regular season. If so that would mean that in a 6 team district that Lufkin would only have 5 district games leaving 5 slots available for non district games. Am I missing something or not adding right? It would be cool if we were able to play JT and Longview in non district. I guess Tyler Lee would be ok too but from what I have read on here Coach Outlaw was not too happy with them for bailing out on us last year. I assume the old Lufkin vs Nac game will stay the same.

You are right it is 5. Wow!! Nah i have had enough playing the et teams even though there was some great rivalries. Lufkin can play them in the playoffs. I hope they get creative and try to very good teams that Lufkin has never played before like NS.

It would be tough to schedule games because all of the other districts will already be playing district games while you need non-district games scheduled...?

I guess they will have to find other 6 team districts. The other et teams are in a 6 team district so i would not be surprised if Lufkin has a mini et district before the real district starts. Outlaw will not play Lee after what happened last year though. Probably get Longview and JT if they are not already booked up. I think Longview is already a lock and you know Nac is because that is a very old rival. 3 more left. I hope Ike is off the schedule.

That is what makes the Tyler Lee, John Tyler, and Longview games more probable since they are in a 6 team district. We already know we will have Nac. on our schedule because it is supposed to be the oldest rivalry in Texas. I would Like to see at least 2 good teams we have never played and then I guess JT and Longview would be fine with me. Heck even a SLC game would be great. Just a great atmosphere. Not likely to happen though.

That district is a joke...
I guess the only good part for me is...looks like Lufkin will still have
playoff games here in Waco.
But it makes for a very boring regular season.

Why complain about 4 out of 6 going to the playoffs. It used to be 3 out of 4 in the old 12-5a district. Not sure what they will do about 5 possible nondistrict games

That was a lot different and it was still a joke. The UIL was even embarrassed at that and that is why they changed it. But at least you had 3 top notch teams going in that old district. All were usually top 10 teams in Lufkin, Longview, and Lee. Now you will have teams like Oak Ridge and freaking Magnolia going to the playoffs. Just SAD!! A 4th place team has no business in the playoffs.

I agree with Pack...4th place has no business in the playoffs.
I am not completely sure that 3rd place deserves it.
I say top 2.......and that's it.
We are not only going to have teams with losing records making it...
but teams with really horrible losing records........2-8 teams.

The UIL screwed this one up bigtime...it was rumored the Lufkin was going "down south" with the schools loacated off of Intersate 10 east (North Shore, channelview, Baytown Lee and Sterling, Port Arthur Memorial and West Brook) to form what was previously district 22-5A. Just the football alone between Lufkin and North Shore would have been worthy of this district being formed.
But now, Lufkin gets stuck in a six team district, with schools they have already whipped throughly on the football field, and also get a bottom feeder coming over also in 0-10 Magnolia. Oak Ridge went 1-9 last year, so those schools will most likely be at the bottom of this football district.
if the UIL knew for a fact they were going to move Rockwall to District 10 with the Garland schools, then Lufkin should have went back to their ole home in district 12 with their original east Texas foes, plus the three Mesquite schools. Lufkin should appeal their district if they wont to be back with their old district foes.
here is how district 15, 16 and 21 should have looked since Lukfin is included:
district 15: Conroe, College Park, Oak Ridge, Woodlands, Klein, Klein Collins, Klein Forest, Klein Oak
district 16: Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Spring, Westfield, Tomball, Magnolia,
district 21: Baytown Lee, Baytown Sterling, Beaumont West Brook, Channelview, Lufkin, North Shore, Port Arthur Memorial,
Lufkin, Tomball, and Magnolia are scrwed in any of those alignments because of the fact that they are one district high 5A high schools, even though Magnolia has a new high school, Magnolia West, starting up in 4A this fall.

I hope we get some good pre-district games some good old fashion battles and if we come out with a loss it would help us out to see what we need to do against the good teams. besides playing the Woodlands the Panthers have not been tested in this new houston area district at all. playing weak pups dont allow you to get better over the season because some times you tend to play down to there levels and not at a high level the UIL jacked this one up.
hope we can get, Lee,JT and Longview, and i see SLC has week 1 open talk about a heck of a game maybe Lufkin vs SLC pre-season this time at Texas Stadium (haha)

I do not want a week 1 game vs. Lufkin. Carroll has so few players returning and most of them will be replaced with juniors. They are very inexperienced and I do not want their first varsity game to be against Lufkin. I would really like to see Carroll schedule Arlington Lamar in a week 1 matchup.

First round playoff games for Lufkin's new 15-5A district will be with the 16-5A which now includes the Klein and Spring schools. That game would not be a Waco game.
Coach Outlaw said he has already scheduled Nacogdoches as the first game, then Aldine Eisenhower and Longview for 2006. There are two openings left to fill and the fact that there are only a few 6 team districts will mean a team from an 8 team district would need to be play Lufkin early, maybe zero week? We should anticipate a little shuffle to the pre-alignment schedule for Lufkin and who knows, we may get some very interesting match ups or re-matches in non-district.

yeah, why not schedule a pushover team? Instead of a team that you KNOW will give you a good test? I'd love to see Lufkin, or Longview for that matter, play SLC in ANY week, especially in the beginning of the season. See just how good, or bad, both teams are at that point. West Monroe didn't back down from us last year just because it was their first game of the season and we had already played one. They played us hard.

I'm still wondering how Lee and JT set their entire schedule before today? Or is Smoaky just speculating? I'd like to see Lufkin play both of them or JT and the Lobos. Outside of the Woodz - district will be, hmmmm, tiring.... for our kicker.

Longview can do it their way and Carroll will do it theirs. Personally I think Carroll has done a better job, but you can think what ever you would like.

If Lufkin could add a decent team in Week 0 and, maybe, JT in week 4- that would be a solid schedule. I'm wondering if PAM is obligated to play us at the Abe this year?

Yeah, and the team that sat home in those years could have won alot of districts!
The zero week will help, and they can have a bye before district, and during district when they're playing their sophs in the second half of the games.LOL

LOngview and The Woodlands are 2 very solid football teams. Lufkin hopefully can add some more. Hopefully a NS, Westfield, or a Katy? JT and Lee are full. I would not want Lufkin to play those teams anyway. Been there done that a zillion times. If Lufkin meets them it should be in the playoffs. I understand Longview but i would rather play a new team. That is just me. Thay need get Ike off the non district schedule. The district will be very weak besides The Woodlands. Conroe might be decent but not likely.

As far as playing Longview twice, I don't know. Personally I think Coach Law was just kidding more than being serious about it, probably would only be a last resort to fill out a 10 game schedule.
However, teams are not knocking on Lufkin's door or calling to play. I am sure there are other teams looking for last minute games to fill out their schedule, they just don't want Lufkin. However, in the end, Lufkin may be their last and only choice for a game. I have no doubt the Panthers will find two more schools to play them.
