I looked and the Alignment is posted on the UIL Webpage. Some pretty interesting moves. Lufkin stays with Conroe schools, but also gets Magnolia. Strake goes to the Cy-Fair schools and we have some changes in the districts as far as number wise.

Sorry, mispelled Realignment

First off, why did they make Longview's district even smaller and take out Rockwall? I was really looking forward for another great matchup.

I was hoping to see Lufkin go to Region 3, so there could possible be an East Texas State Championship.

However, I do like that Dallas Carter will possibly have to face East Texas teams for the next two years in the first round! Also, I like that Allen is back in Region 2, because I, as many other Lobo fans, want revenge for 2001. I believe the final score to that game was a 20-17 absolute heartbreaker.

Oh, and Highland Park escapes 5A yet again...

cant wait for the Panthers to take the field and with a 6 team district i hope we can get some good pre-season games with Lee,longview or some others we shall see. The only district game i see being hard is against the Woodlands so we need hard pre-season games against a few good teams. But again this is why you play the game first.

Go panthers

Guess we'll be seeing Strake again then! Hope we have the same outcome as the playoffs.

The Little SWC stays the same. I'm shocked. I thought since the UIL was being so staunch on 7 team minimum districts, that the merger of 2-5A and 3-5A was to arrive. They both stayed the same. With Amarillo Palo Duro's continued growth, probably in the next realignment, San Angelo Central will be placed back in the Little SWC and Palo Duro will be in 5A.

So much for all the predictions...myself included.

Me too. Especially considering 4 teams make the playoffs. I guess the other two teams in that district can get participation trophies.

The real joke will be in 2-5A basketball.

5 teams...4 playoff spots. Who is the worst?

I thought they'd go with 7...but it turns out that Rivals was wrong.

So my projected alignment turned out to not be anywhere near accurate.

And see how Eagle Pass and Winn played up? No one was projecting that!

That's actually a good question because, starting next season, we have TWO football stadiums!! I'm hoping we play most of them at the new one because it's about a mile from the house. It's on Barker Cypress at West Road - next to Cy-Fair College. The other one, Pridgeon, is located off of 1960 and Bobcat Lane (so named after our "mother" school in the district - Cy Fair). Either way, you all out at Strake have a LONG drive! The easiest way to get there is go to the Sam Houston tollroad and take it to 290, turn left (West) and take 1960 to the right for Pridgeon and take Barker Cypress (about 3 more exits down) to the left for the new one which I don't believe has a name yet.

It's not so bad for football, but it really hurts our basketball kids to be committed to that travel 2 nights a week... No time at all for homework, studying, etc... You guys will only have to come to SJ once a season, our guys will be going out there every road game...

Okay, nevermind about the travel... But I still don't like being in the toughest football district.

Being with the HISD schools would make more sense. I guess they want 8 team districts when possible.

Thats going to pretty much suck for Strake to make those cross county trips to Northwest Houston twice a week, not only in basketball, but in soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, and all other team sports. Football isnt that bad, considering Cy-Fair will have a new stadium next year, and most of the games will be on friday night, saturday afternoon and saturday night. There shouldnt be anymore varsity football games on Thursday nights with three stadium choices (two in cy-fair, plus Strakes stadium)...it will suck for the JV team however having to go out there on thursday afternoons/ evenings in all that traffic on the beltway and 290.

Additionally, I dont think Strake will have a district to go to. The UIL 2006 alignment policies suggest that an ISD with only seven schools will have all its schools in the same district and can have another school assigned by the league office. here is the link:

http://www.uil.utexas.edu/2006align/pdf/alignment_policies.pdf

in this instance, Cy-Fair had only seven varsity schools, with the eight school, Cy Woods, opening in the fall, but not playing varsity football until 2007. Your old district with Alief and Katy ISD's will have eight schools playing varsity football, with Morton Ranch playing their first varsity season this year.

In essence, you guys wont have that comfortable ride down Bellaire to play Elsik, Hastings and Taylor anymore, or the easy ride out to Katy because you are a one school district unto itself. There really isnt anywhere else for you guys to go, considering every other region III district has 7 or more teams already.

I'd vote for a Lufkin/Consol matchup these next two years.... steel hardens steel.

I agree, I didn't see many good alternatives either. Oh well... On the bright side - we're playing UIL, we're in a very well-rounded, competitive district, we get a fresh start with new district competition, and we're not in with the Lubbock schools... Things couldn't be much better...

It is a tough district all around but if y'all play like you did against us, you'll hold your own. It is a long way for the basketball/soccer/softball/baseball, etc to travel because they have way more games and, just so you know, competition is fierce in those sports too!! We welcome you guys anyway...it will be fun to have a new face in the crowd. I wish Tomball and Magnolia the best of luck too - both are going to 2 different districts but they are closer to their hometowns...they had to travel a lot to Cypress too - it's a long way from Magnolia!!

I don't like the idea of Carter playing the ET schools in the first round. The last time that happened Carter didn't see the second round for several years. WHat would help if they could mix their district games in with their non-district(which won't happen). I know many people think that if you're good then you're good, but even with a tough non-district when you play 5 games of poor competition, and then have to play a one of the best in the state, you're doomed. It has to be hard to make that adjustment!!

I was really hoping that the UIL joined Carter with Duncanville and Desoto to make an 8 team district!

I know the travel thing is tough. But just a question. Did any of you grow in in an area where a town had one High School and was it's own district? I did. And we had major road trips for every away game. We had to go to schools all over the place all throughout the week. And we survived. Common stadiums and city life has spoiled me. :)
