With two seconds left, the Mavericks hadn't completed a pass yet, Nate Askew had only touched the ball once on a muffed punt, and Aaron Green was getting stuffed. Madison hadn't gotten anything going for the first half.
Good thing A.J. Myers got out of bounds with two seconds left so the Mavs could get one more play off.
From Madison's own 35, Myers threw a jump ball that Nate Askew caught at the Churchill 35. Just as two Churchill defenders were trying to take him down, Askew flipped the ball back for a lateral -- right to Aaron Green streaking down the left sideline. Green stumbled out of a tackle down to the end zone for a 65-yard hook-and-lateral with no time left in the half.

I knew you were kidding buddy. Just wanted the Katy fan to realize that while it could have been a huge call and changed some of the MO, Marcus will still getting torched at that point in the game. If Marcus even had a halfway decent secondary they would be a threat to go a long way in the D1 playoffs but that doesn't look to be the case. They are terrible in pass coverage.
Carroll's D is good, some good looking players but this not only makes two straight years but 2 weeks that they have had trouble stopping a running game. Does not bode well for the Dragons if they go up against Chill.

To be honest...Ive enjoyed hearing that SLC struggles against decent ground teams...Im praying for an SLC/Katy final. :D

I doubt that. Simply by reading that blog and seeing how the guys that report for the DMN are, they leave opinions out of a lot of their postings. I just get the feeling that he wouldn't comment either way and I know SLC has the opposite. I stand by my thought and he'll stand by his.
That call wasn't the determing factor in Marcus' fate though.

From what you ahve described, the things that would bother me as a Marcus fan about the particular call are, the two huddles, if the ball is uncatchable, then why not rule it that way in the original huddle? Erwin hurt his team tonight. Regardless of how the call went, it still would have been 3rd and 8 for FMM. The way FMM was moving the ball (and they were in 4 down territory) it is likely they could have gotten the 1st down anyway if Erwin had kept his cool.

Also, FMM attempted and failed on THREE on side kick-offs, each time giving SLC the ball on the 50. If those 4 coach's actions were reversed, FMM would have a nuch better chance to win the game. SLC likely still would have won, but it would have been much more interesting.

While I agree that Bastrop will probably make the playoffs, I don't understand folks who say they "clinched" a playoff spot. We have three games remaining. NO team in our district has more than three losses. We have seven teams. In the unlikely event Bastrop loses all three, they would be in a tie with other teams that would probably be broken by district score differential.
