Johnson from John Tyler is excellent. He's already committed to SMU.

Looks like him and Hayden Greenbauer from Clark will be teammates.:)
Hayden is one of the better Option quarterbacks I've seen in quite some time. He's super quick and if he can get around the corner, he can make big gains against his opponents.

I was extremely impressed with Allens Brown. Boy has he grown up in a year. I also like Chills Jackson. Both are quality dual threat signal callers.

Among 5A quarterbacks, I think you have the top 4 pretty well set.

1) Ryan Polite / DeSoto
2) Matt Brown / Allen
3) Michael Pruneau / Plano West
4) David Piland / SLC

I knew he was good but I just don't know about the numbers he's putting up this year. What about the Kid from Westlake?
Plano West Wolf

I'd like to throw Plano West's Michael Pruneau into the mix. He's quietly putting up huge numbers (DFW's leading passer, 23 TD passes to only 6 interceptions).

These, as well as 'best' college QB always confuse me. If were talking BEST high School QB, alot of people equate that to 'best or better in college' and the same with college QB's being 'best or better in the NFL'.
There are several damn good HS QB's that won't make a good college QB.
Not the best...but you have to throw him in the conversation,
Andrew Kelly, Houston Westside
90-146-3 2,078 yards 19Td

Everything I have heard about Hayden is that he projects to play another position at SMU. He is a great athlete and could play receiver, return kicks or as we saw in the playoffs last year even play in the defensive backfield.

JT's Jeremy Johnson gets my vote hands down b'c I've seen this wirey QB make a bad read on the inside zone a time or two, stop on a dime, shake a DE & LB, then go 70 yds in the blink of an eye!!!
Plus, that's not just in one game but in 3 straight!!!! This guy is shy of amazin' and w' every run it seems as if he's the same speed which is zero to 60 in a blink of an eye!!! He has definitely matured from last year and will give plenty of DC's fits the rest of this year b'c you can gameplan all you want but you can't stop speed!!!
He reminds me of Cedar Hills QB from 2 or 3 years ago but w' a deadly accurate arm!!! He's a good 6'0 but if he were 2 or 3 inches taller he'd be headed to UT, Fla, or even USC no doubt!!! SMU had better keep an eye on him b'c they want him to play WR & someone else is going to be willing to give him a shot at QB, which is clearly his natural position!!!
In 7 games, which he has yet to play a full one b'c he's usually pulled in the 3rd qtr, he has racked up 1071 yds rushing on 95 carries & 985 passing on only 90 attempts w' 65% accuaracy!!!
Can u sayyyyy,....:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy
Thats only 7 games vs. worthy opponents people(TX High, Lufkin, Arlington Lamar, Witchita Fall Rider, Mes. Horn, Mesquite, & Lewisville).
This is why he definitely gets my vote,...hands down!!!

Hate to be a homer but Jr. QB Bram Kohlhausen for Lamar is a pretty great player. Good size, good arm, great speed, and a smart kid as well. Wish he could be in a more pass oriented offense, he's always had great running backs behind him.

he's not a 5A QB, but I'd sure like to see Conner Wood in person (Houston 2nd Baptist). Rivals has him rated as the top QB prospect in the state and 've heard hs is just phenomenal.

No, it really isn't. The top QB in Texas this year (Conner Wood) is ranked as the #22 best high school prospect in Texas. It's really kind of an off year. A whole lot of good QBs but few great ones.

In the just the DFW area and just 5a;
Deric Davis, Javia Hall, Matt Brown, Jared Barnett, David Piland, Tyler Cotton, Jonovan Griffin, Emory Miller, Matt Joeckel, Paul Millard, Jackson Oliver, Ryan Polite and Ricky Zorn just to name a few good ones. And I know I miss some more but this is a good year...tell me a better one (not saying this is the best)

2006 was the best year of recent vintage for Texas QB's - way ahead of this year. I put the following guys from that year WAY ahead of anyone from the 2010 signing class:
Matthew Stafford - Highland Park - Georgia
Greg McElroy - Southlake Carroll - Alabama
Taylor Potts - Abilene - Texas Tech
Jevan Snead - Stephenville - Texas, then Ole Miss
Sherrod Harris - Arlington Bowie - Texas
Todd Reesing - Lake Travis - Kansas
In the mix with all the 2010 guys, I'd put:
Jeff Panfil - North Crowley - Purdue
J.P. Tillman - Cy Falls - Missouri
Pierre Beasley - Spring Westfield - Rice
Christian Ponder - Colleyville Heritage - Florida State
Nick Stephens - Flower Mound - Tennessee
Andy Dalton - Katy - TCU

Stats are pretty good this year. Houston isn't really rilled with great 5a Qb's this year and he's the only one that comes to mind.
1650 yards passing 18TD's and 3 picks
258 yards and 5 TD's on the ground. Kansas commit

ONLY because Allen is the only team in 8-5A w/ a defense

Matt Brown's Stats-
2009 so far:
29 Total TD's
2,264 Total Yards
He has turned third downs into the new 2nd Down, and has only thrown 2 interceptions all year........ and even caught a TD pass........

He looks the part and certainly has talent , but would like to see him against better competition to see how he does against better players and defensive schemes.
