Anyone else watch it? Got opinions? Comments? Comments on Sheehan?

I don't agree with anything that Cindy Sheehan stands for. She's an embarrasment to her self, her son, and the entire military. She's a spot lite seeker who is basking in all the attention. She's despicable and she sickens me. However, I fully support her right to protest as she sees fit.

I agree with that. I think she's lost sight of what she was originally protesting. Now all she's doing is trying to become a media icon that will go into history books. Hopefully she gets imprisoned for a year on the misdemeanor she got yesterday....but that's unlikely.

As for the speech, I thought it was done well. Like they were saying on Fox this morning "It was kinda odd how the Democrats applauded and cheered that they couldn't find a solution to Social Security".

I watched a little bit of it. Didn't see the Sheehan part. Is she the one protesting the troops involvement abroad, questioning the president after her son was K.I.A.?

In the short time I watched it, the camera was on Hillary Clinton more than the president it seemed. Consistent with the last address when they felt the need to keep panning over to all of her reactions.

Sheehan is the one protesting. She got arrested before the speech even began for not wearing a t-shirt with an anti-war slogan (she had a jacket on and then took it off). And the Capitol Security asked her to cover it up, she refused, and she supposedly tried to hang an anti-war banner from the gallery. So she was arrested for demonstrating in the Capitol and then was changed to I think unlawful conduct. (with a max penalty of a year)

I think the most annoying thing about Sheehan is that she just needs to realize that her son did his duty on his own volition. We do not have mandatory service in this country. He signed that contract saying "I accept the possiblity that I could die in action." There wasn't a clause on there that said "I'll only willingly die in action if it is a war accepted by the American public." Now Casey will never be remembered as a war hero, rather he'll be remembered as the son of a stupid mother who destroyed his name.

I watched it, and it seems to me that the media coverage on it was not only one sided, like usual. But they did care more about Hillarys reactions than what was being said. The media also didnt stop there, I very much enjoyed the comments during the address about who everyone was... B/c I know I was sitting at home thinking "ooh no, who is that man speaking?...what the President" or things like "who are those funny looking men in the long robes?...what judges now can't afford real clothes?" I mean come on, it was a joke the whole time... Sorry media, but America is not that stupid and I dont enjoy being told I am.

I've done some research on Sheehan for projects/pleasure in the past...check out the wikipedia article on her. Her rhetoric is filled with hypocrisy and anti-American sentiment. Ship her to the middle east!

Wikipedia Atricle, quoted below (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Sheehan)

Sheehan and other military families met with President George W. Bush in June 2004 at Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, Washington, nearly three months after her son's death. In a June 24, 2004 interview with the Vacaville Reporter published soon after the meeting, she stated, "We haven't been happy with the way the war has been handled. The president has changed his reasons for being over there every time a reason is proven false or an objective reached." It should be noted that she also stated that President Bush was "...sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis...I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

On July 4, 2005 she was again interviewed by a local paper in Fort Lewis, Washington, regarding her meeting with President Bush, this time describing it as "one of the most disgusting experiences I ever had and it took me almost a year to even talk about it." She described President Bush as being "detached from humanity" and said that "his mouth kept moving, but there was nothing in his eyes or anything else about him that showed me he really cared or had any real compassion at all." She continued, "He didn’t even know our names," asking "Who we'all honorin' here today?" when he first entered the room, and then referring to her as "Ma" or "Mom". [6]

She's crazy, alright.
