Mesquite owns the #2 spot for having the toughest schedule so far this season and their record will lead most to believe they're an easy win. Well, a 22 point average shows they can score and last week they managed to put up 30 against a defense which had only given 30+ twice both times to highly ranked teams. Defensively, the Skeeters have had hard times in 2009 yielding an average of nearly 40 points to their first six opponents. With JT coming in averaging 48 ppg, the Skeeter defense will have to rely on their offense keeping JT off the field. Offensively, JT comes into this matchup with Mesquite hitting on all cylinders. Over the last six games this offense has created problems for opposing DC's and Mesquite's DC has the problem this week. JT's defense will have the task of getting Mesquite's offense off the field, ASAP. Mesquite knows they'll have to control possession time of the game IF they are going to give themselves a chance. Once again Hanby Stadium is the location of this game, a very nice place to play. Good luck to both teams.

JT is rolling like an 18 wheeler w' an open road ahead and no one else in sight!!!
I'm so proud of these young boys for their resilent efforts both on and off the field.
If you get a chance to speak to any one of these players they all utter the same thing,...one day one play, one game at a time. Their disciplined focus is out right scarey!!!
They've matured tremendiously since last year. I wish them the best.

Mesquite >14The two things that impressed me most is, they look forward to practicing and when asked if they are getting tired of playing, it was NO!, without hesitation. Some of the guys I played with, including myself, hated practicing. We'd skip in groups so the coaches wouldn't be too harsh with punishment. In the end it all paid off with a 2-8 season.

Johnson should have a field day against Mesquite. I went to the Lee-Mesquite game and they could not stop anybody. Mesquite's offense actually moved the ball pretty well, they just had some dumb plays, mistakes and questionable play calling. They squandered several drives in Lee's red zone.
JT should blow them out.

JT should blow them out.I thought Mesquite would have trouble moving the ball against TyLee's defense. I knew TyLee would win but I didn't think there would ONLY be 10 points separating the two at the half.

JT should roll once again....Mesquite gave up a lot of point to lee last week so I'm not sure that they will stop JT's offense. Plus the JT defense showed that they shut down teams after halftime once again...
JT wins by at least 3 TD's. :D

Im saying Jt'll most likely top 40 points. But pecentages alone say we won't keep pushing 60 points every week..thats asking a bit much. But this team can score 35+ on an off night. This one will be closer than everyone expects. JT by 3 td's though. In every game they pushed 60 points, the oppenents gave JT LOTS of help. Opponents can't keep turning the ball over like that unless our D is indeed that good...if soo..look out Texas!!!

We did have almost all starters out of the game at that point. We suffered some injuries and they were big time concerns so we pulled the rest. They only had 14 points at this point in the game.

JT played with more balance in the win over Mesquite. The defense scored on one of several turnovers for the first time this season to give the JT offense a helping hand. Mesquite's defense looked like a seasoned group with some swarming hard hitting players but nonetheless JT managed to hold true to form with Chancellor running over 100, Collins catching over 100, and Johnson throwing over 100. Mesquite's offense had some big plays but were outmatched with bigger plays from Caldwell, Hackett, and others at critical times. This defensive group is growing slowly into becoming a CUjO defense. At this point, 2009 is now 2-0 with the same district record as 2008 but the team is a more polished team that can get a BIG win even in a game where they struggled against the opponent. From this point in 2008, JT started to slide and finished district 0-3 but still landed a playoff spot thanks to help from other teams in district. I can't imagine 2009 going through the same low as 2008 but North Mesquite, who defeated Horn Friday night, appears to be NO pushover. With a solid running game and showing they have the ability to pass, North is easily a team to be taken serious especially with it being homecoming for JT.

Alot of people question JT's defense. Well I went back and researched two seasons on JT, the year they won state and the year after, and what I found out is that the 09 defense is almost the same as the year they won state.
09 team
PPG PAPG
48.2 17.3
94 team
PPG PAPG
34.75 16.38
95 team
PPG PAPG
36.18 12.64
Out of all those three JT's squad, which one would you rather be on? I'll take the 09 team over both of those pending state because we haven't seen that far into the future.
