yep, sure is
not sure if Ryan is going anywhere DI now either....
I read an insider article from some site saying Will hopes to get noticed by schools bigger and more prestigious than Air Force and Navy by going to Blinn first and playing.

Nothing wrong with the Naval Academy..our Cornerback, Scott Simpson is proud to be headed there....Will T. is a fine player..enjoyed watching him..except when he picked that Daniel pass in 03...

never said anything was wrong with the Academies, just sounds like Will and other people talkin to him feel he's got big school talent just hasnt been seen yet

Sounds like Thompson has pretty solid "grades" to even be mentioned as a possible Academy prospect. He would be a great fit for Rice Univ. and their new staff.

will has some genetic deficits for a db. he isn't high enough on the height chart, regardless of his talent. i have seen it too many times. college recruiters aren't smart enough to find a talented db unless he is also taller, or of another race. sorry for the honesty.

I really do not believe Will will be going to Blinn. Rice and some of the military schools have been talking with him. He has yet to decide. Also Mouton will be playing football for A&M next year I believe.

I also heard that MOOOOOOtan would be playing for A&M.
Will is a great young man with an awesome family. I am sure the right opportunity will come along and the right decision will be made.

I went to the Blinn games this year because my son is in the band. Franchione (Brad) is doing a great job with those boys and they were pretty impressive until they had some injuries. One game was 82-0 and the first one against Cisco was 56-8. We had nice big crowds for the home games - it was a fun atmosphere. Blinn itself is a small school but the D1 scouts know about the program and they do show up.
It goes the same with baseball - Dane Bubela and Chris Kolkhorst from Cy Falls started up there, transferred to Rice and won a college world series - both are in the majors now. We currently have two from last years very good Cy Falls team up there playing baseball. Blinn has pretty good athletic programs and it's a great place to be noticed by the bigger schools. Just don't expect to find many restaurants open past 5:00!!
We welcome young Master Thompson with open arms indeed - it will be fun to watch him on my team now as opposed to watching him help defeat my team:)

After seeing a few Katy games the last few years. It seemed like almost everyone of them had 3 to 5 Thompson highlites in them. It doesnt take a brain surgeon too see that Thomspon has some serious football skills despite what you say (which I do agree with some of it).
I knew a college football coach S.F.A (asst. coach) that recruited the Houston area. I mentioned a player for him to go check out. He already knew of the player and said the kid was to slow and small and not aggresive enough to play for S.F.A !!! Well, the kid had a few small offers to D-11A schools. He got one shot with RICE and they gave him a scholly. Well, that slow, to small and not aggresive player ended up playing and starting for 2 years at RICE and doing pretty good.
Oh ya... that coach at S.F.A is bye bye and I believe their still looking for jobs. hahahaha.. and listening to those (two of them Asst. coaches) you would swear they were "EXPERTS" by the way they ran their stupid mouths.
I know more about football and judging "talent" then those two jerk-offs every thought of.

That's the problem with Jr. College - it's only 2 years...sometimes only 1 if they get picked up. However, they seemed to pass more than they ran last year - at least for the games I saw and that was all the home games and the one over at Copperas Cove. At any rate, I think Thompson will get picked up by a D1 school - someone would be very lucky to get him - for now, that luck goes to the Bucs!! Rip 'em up, Tear em up, Give 'em Hell Bucs:D

I think alot of D1 coaches have made a mistake of not recruiting Will. The guy has unmeasureable intangibles that is only seen during games.
If he shows the same heart at Blinn as he did in Katy - then he will eventually end up in a D1 squad.

Yes I read it. Of another race could have been stated a different way. 98 percent of the db,s in the NFL are of that race ....go figure.

But how many of the kids from Rice make it in the NFL. There are more suited for the board room or the O.R or the court room.

How many guys playing in major college D-1A footall make it to the NFL ?? Not many.
Despite what everyone thinks.. a very small percentage of college players make the NFL or any form of Pro football. You go to college to get the degree to help you move up that ladder in the world.
Will Thompson was a great High school player and has the ability to be a very good college player on a D-1A team. However, I dont think he'll make the NFL.
The guy I know that went to Rice. He wasnt go to make the NFL but he was alot like Thompson but slightly bigger (5-11/175/4.5) kid that had tons of ability. My point about the S.F.A Univ coaches was they (two of them) were pretty much a joke to tell me that the kid was to small, slow and not aggresive to play college football for S.F.A.
Rice gave him a shot and he ended up being a two year starter and doing pretty well for Rice.
Do I think Will Thompson could go to a school like Rice, SMU, UTEP and do very well and probably be a two year or even three year starter at one of those schools ?? YES..
NFL.. probably never like the other 95% of college football players.

My point, indeed, I did not only mean Rice, but just a small amount of college players make it to the NFL, most of the kids from these high schools that are winning ever year won,t see a nfl locker room, a lot won,t even make in college. And I agree that the education is what they will need and should focus on

Ok, I see where both saying the samething just slightly different styles.
I guess my biggest point is how some of those college coaches (have egos) bigger than Dallas and think they know everything about football. From the X's and O's of the game to telling you what high school talent is legit or not.
Heck,, it aint no magic to look at some of these 5-Star , 4-Star and 3-Star kids with their size, speed and good high school skill and predict they will be very good major college players (even though many of them will bust).
The true recruiting scout can look at these so called inferior, second & third tier talented kids and see the skill and ability in them for the college game.

It's plan and simple that Will Thompson is a football player with heart and ability. And you can't tell me he can't play for SFA. Hell, Katy could beat them with this years team.
But all these supposedly recuriters will not take a chance on a under sized white db because it's much safer to recurit the size and speed of bigger players. D1 football is a busness that depend on the biggest and baddest dudes out there, that can take the beating of being a football galdiator.
Thompson can play and some coach will see it and Will will get his chance. I saw him play against the Woodlands and SLC and he loves the game like Major Applewhite and he's a gamer period.

Supposebly Will is going to blinn witha few friends. Brandon King(rb), Morris Arnold(small but talented lb), and him are going along with a few out of football guys. Will is probably hoping that since Blinn is in the area of a D1 school they might hear something of him and pick him up somewhere down the line.

you saw a cb at least as good as wt when slc played lp in 02. he had the same deficiencies as wt, and was penalized thusly. he gave up zero tds and scored 4 in 16 games, against pretty fair competition. he got offers from d-2 schools only. stupid college recruiters.

Then I suspect that with all the Cypress Falls kids in the band and all the Katy kids on the field - there should be some big crowds at Blinn next football season!!
