Hachie is the frontrunner, obviously. They should go undefeated unless some major injuries happen all the sudden. Don't know much about Cleburne. Hachie will beat University.

Waxahachie should win the district. Beyond that everything else will be a wait and see.
Midway has a good defense but they were over rated in the polls with what they lost from last year on offense, I had them third in the district and that is probably about right.
Ennis has a hard road ahead of them to make the playoffs with all their injury issues.
Price is really good at University and could take them far, just don't think he will be enough to beat Waxahachie.
Cleburne hasn't beaten anyone yet to make me think they will make the playoffs.

Team, District Record, Overall Record
Waxahachie 2-0 5-0
Waxahachie has not really been challenged this year except against a speedy Lancaster team the Indians beat by 14 points. Waxahachie has a ton of speed on both sides of the ball, is the favorite in the district and could go 10-0.
Waco University 2-0 4-1
Have not seen University yet but they have done well to this point and should be in the playoffs having a quality win over Waco in district.
Cleburne 1-1 4-1
A one point win over Midlothian tells the tale. Even though Cleburne has a good record overall, I don't believe Cleburne gets past Ennis this week even with all of their injuries and I don't think they make the playoffs in district 16-4A.
Waco Midway 1-1 4-1
Midway was probably overated earlier in the season and has a big game this week with University to settle the pecking order below Waxahachie in 16-4A. Midway should represent 16-4A in the playoffs.
Corsicana 1-1 2-3
Corsicana has a big win over an overated Midway to hang their hat on but their other losses look suspect especially an 11 point loss to West Mesquite. Corsicana will compete for the last playoff spot.
Waco 1-1 1-4
Waco High had the toughest pre-district schedule and start district play 1-1. They come into Waxahachie looking for an upset against the Indians who are ranked 4th in the state. Waco will battle to make the playoffs.
Ennis 0-2 2-3
Banged up Ennis looked bad in a loss to Waxahachie. The Indians let off the gas early and gave a lot of time to second and 3rd string players in this game as they led 35-9 at the half. But Ennis is Ennis and they will battle for the last playoff spot in the district. I would not count them out just yet even with an 0-2 start in district.
Midlothian 0-2 1-4
Unfortunatley Midlothian is not as competitive this year as they would like to be. Football will be over for the Panthers in early November.
My prediction:
Waxahachie, University, Midway - In the Playoffs
Corsicana, Ennis, and Waco compete for that last playoff spot. I think Ennis will challenge but I think Waco finds a way in.
Very competitive, very crazy district to predict as usual.
My personal thoughts is Hachie will win the 164 title and Univeristy will finish second, with Midway finishing third and forth will be the toughie..I'm going to say Corsicana will find a way to get in.
If Cleburne beats Ennis, the Lions will not have a chance of making it...Not with games left against Midway in Waco and at University to end the season.

It's clear as mud through 3 games. Other than Waxahachie staying in first I am not sure how the final standings will look but I am thinking it will go like this.
Waxahachie 3-0, undefeated and in the drivers seat with wins over Ennis and Waco. In unless something really strange happens and probably undefeated at 7-0.
Waco Midway 2-1, Has a win over University but a loss to Corsicana. I would think they win the next 3 and lose to Hachie in the last to finish in 2nd place. Worst case they only win 2 of the next 4 and are still in. 5-2, I believe.
Waco University 2-1, Wins over Corsicana and Waco but a loss to Midway. Should win 2 out of the last 4 to make it in. I see 4-3.
Corsicana 2-1, Win over Midway and loss to University. Rivalry game agains Ennis up next that could go either way with the history of that one. But should win at least 2 of the last 4 to make it in. I will be happy with 4-3 ecstatic with 5-2 and might pass out with 6-1.
Waco 1-2, Win over Ennis but losses to University and Waxahachie. Most likely only can win 2 out of the last 4 and may not do that if team implodes with problems that seem to be going on. 3-4 and out.
Ennis 1-2, Only win is over Cleburne. The wild card of the bunch. Can't count them out yet but my guess is they win 2 out of the last 4 to miss the playoffs. The shocker at 3-4 but with the injuries not sure much more could be hoped for.
Cleburne 1-2, Only win is over Midlothian. Would need 3 more wins and that doesn't look likely with the 4 teams left on the schedule. Not sure they win any of the last 3 and end up 1-6
Midlothian 0-3, Only team that is really out of it and with 1 more loss it will be official. Not a bad team and could win one but since they missed out on Cleburne will probably go 0-7.

Ive had the chance to see cleburne a few times in person and it seems they are on the right track, just cant seem to get over the hump. Vs Ennis I thought they were gonna score atleast 30 on them. they could not get things together 2-4 quarters. The zone read that ennis ran gashed them. not sure how things will go for them the rest of the way..Is their head coach a cleburne boy?

I'm pro-Waco... but, if we lose to Midway or Corsicana ...
I am pro-Corsicana but I am pretty realistic too. I don't see Waco beating Midway and I have no idea on the Corsicana game. Corsicana can play with anyone if they don't give away possessions, but that has been a problem. I do think that we can win 2 of the last 4 and that should get us in.
There could theoretically be more teams at 4-3 than playoff spots. Anyone know the 16-4A tiebreaker? Is it points or head to head now? If there are 4 teams for 3 or 3 for 2 it would have to be points I guess, but if it is only 2 for the last 1 I am guessing it would be head to head? Point differential would not favor Corsicana in many instances.

If Waco plays like they did in the rest of the games like they did the 1st half against Waxahachie and actually plays defense...they will win all of their remaining games.
Midway is not that good.... University came off that big win against us the week before..and that was a tough game for them... I knew they were going to turn around and lose to Midway. Teams either get the big head and not practice like they should.... or, they are just worn out from the tough game from the week before. I have seen alot of teams do that...
Waco has a good chance against both Corsicana and Midway. If they split these two there is a chance big chance they will not go to the playoffs. These are must win games and they know it! I think they changed it and it is a point differential...but I may be wrong.

That was what I was thinking too. Not a big fan of that.
I just don't think Waco can score enough on Midway to win, unless they get turnovers off Midway's offense. Midway's strength is their D and Waco's Offense is not that steady, that could make it a long night.

I believe the Waxahachie's defense was taking way too many risks in the 1st half against Waco. It was a good wake up call, because they have not been scored on like that all season. I think they were being a bit too aggressive and a bit cocky. Towards the end of the first half and for the entire second half, they played team defense and stayed home on defensive assignments.
I still do not understand Waco's decision to kick a field goal in the 4th qtr when they were so far behind. Go for the first and try to make a TD. What good does 3 points get you and then you have to kick the ball away? Was someone trying to cover a spread?:p

Cleburne vs Waco- I am going with Waco. But coming off a suspension of their coach and turmoil in the peanut gallery nothing would surprise me.
Waco University vs Waxahachie- Give me Hachie to win this one and the rest of them. They are playing better and more consistently than anyone else.
Waco Midway vs Midlothian- Midway will win this one.
Corsicana vs Ennis- I am going with Corsicana in a close one. I don't think Ennis has the size to stop the running attack of the Tigers. Cody Evans and Jonathan Anderson should both have big nights.

Uni has Cleburne, Midlo, and Ennis left. Only need 2 of those to get in and that should not be a problem. That last game at Ennis could be a very big game.
Corsicana has Waco and Cleburne at home. Both of those are winnable games and being must wins this will decide if this team has matured enough to put a game away. I think they will.
Ennis is starting to figure some things out after the injuiries, but I can't see them beating either Midway or Uni with Price, and they need one to get in.
Cleburne has certainly looked better than they have in past, but come on it's Cleburne. Hachie, Uni and Corsicana are the remaining games, I don't see 2 wins there.
Waco is in turmoil and the locals are already calling for the head of the coach. That can't be good for team unity.

They will be the D1 reps unless Lancaster finishes 2-0 in which they will beat Mabank and beat Terrell taking away the #4 spot. West Mesquite has also clinched so its a battle for the final spot. Forney owns tiebreakers over Mabank and Lancaster so even with 2 more losses that is how they are in.

So what are the 16 v. 15 matchups looking like?
If you take the current standings it would be
DI
Red Oak -vs- Midway
Forney -vs- Waxahachie
DII
West Mesquite -vs- Corsicana
Terrell -vs- University

That's what I thought. The DII games would be the only possible games for 15-4A to win.
I last saw Waxahachie in 2007 v. Copperas Cove in the playoffs. How does this years team compare?
As a Forney fan, I wouldn't mind losing a home and home coin flip to Midway and them playing in Baylors stadium(midways home this year right?)

Waxahachie is better than they have been since the early 90's. though they didn't show it in Cleburne last week.
Midway played Thursday night games at Floyd Casey this year while their stadium is being remodeled. Not sure if they have an option there for playoffs.

Good god what a mess. All comes down to 1 game for Corsicana, Cleburne, Ennis and University. All 4 are tied and play each other in the final week. Cleburne will be at Corsicana and Ennis will Be at University. The winners go to the playoffs at 4-3 and the losers end up 3-4 and at home.
At this point I will say Ennis looks like they have turned it around and can run the ball well enough to beat University. Corsicana should beat Cleburne, but Cleburne seems to be putting something to together the last few weeks. So who knows what will happen.

Not sure what is going to happen, but this is what HS football is all about. Of the Four teams that are 3-3, the two that win are in. Is is right that if Cleburne wins and university beats Ennis then Cleburne is 3rd and University 4th? Have not seen Corsicana play, guessin they are pretty good. Talked to buddy in Cleburne and he is impressed with what is goin on down there. Predictons on these games?? And thoughts on the RED OAK district......

I have no idea what will happen in this district anymore. It's got parity the likes of the NFL. Cleburne has really gotten on a roll, but Corsicana should win unless they revert back to mistakes that have killed them this year. Ennis now seems to be playing pretty good while University has fallen off. And I not sure Hachie can beat Midway to win the district either. It all comes to down to the final game to decide everything.

I'll say this! Cleburne has definitely opened up my eyes. I thought they'd finish at the bottom with Midlothian, to be honest. The 'Jackets have showed up, and played some ball. Now, excuse me, while I eat crow.

Who would have thought that Waco High would be perhaps the worst team in 16-4a this season and not even in the playoff hunt. Well let me reprase that, we are not the worst team, but absolutely played like it. I still have not gotton over Coach Ramsey running a no huddle offense at Home against Cleburne with the ball and 3 minutes on the clock. Dude was snapping the ball with 15 seconds still on the playclock on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down, I was too mad along with several other lion fans. This "run and junk" offense with no QB was a joke. We had way more points and yards per game rwith Tusa system running the ball than with this "high-powereed" offenseive scheme. Now Waco High is on the brink of assuring itself its worst season record in as far back as i can remember. I really dont think we are going to beat Midlothian so 1-10 is gonna ruffle some feathers. The bright side of this is that the year after Waco High went 2-8 in '05, they responded with a dominant Championship game run in '06. Not trying to be prideful, Waco High should never be the cellar dweller in this district. The JV and Freshmen teams look superb, so WISD lets save them from the wrath of Coach Danny Ramsey!!!

Anyone have any scouting reports on either Midway or Waxahachie? Don't know much about either and with the playoffs right around the corner (and a possible rematch with Midway or matchup with Waxahachie for the first time since 1945 in the 2nd round) I thought I'd ask.

Waxahachie has speed, speed and more speed. Balanced on offense with a good passing attack and great running attack. Very deep with about 4 runners out of the backfield so they keep the horses fresh. Defense has great linebacker play though the last couple of weeks have had a few nagging injuries which is why the defense has not played shut down defense lately. The offense has sputtered a bit the last couple of weeks and they have not looked as sharp as the 1st 7 games of the season... but hopefully they will be up for Midway.

Yes. I caught the second half of the Terrell / Waco University game. Terrell had a great chance to put a winning drive together. 1:47 on the clock I believe and 2 time outs. Just down 1 point. Just needed to get in FG range starting from their own 20. Last 2 plays from the 50 yrd Line, They could not execute. The tiger QB threw a ball to a wide open WR but 3 yards short. Then on their last play, same spot QB this time throws a perfect strike to a wide open WR... hits him in the hands right in the chest... he drops it.
Game over.

How does Sulphur Springs speed look like? Waco U did beat Dallas Carter... .do they have some speed?
You are right I think their defense is decent... O has not been that productive in some games.... I think they still have a pretty decent chance.....
Looks like Sulphur struggled wiht the speed/size teams this year tho.... Texas High, Marshall, Longview......
Uni has a big offensive line...and some speed.... it may be the difference.
Uni makes mistakes too tho...and I bet that is where Sulphur Springs is good at handling....

Uni has a lot of offense in Price, but that is it. If you stop him then you have stopped the offense. If he gets loose he can make you pay by either running or hitting his receiver downfield on a scramble.

lol. Speed.
We pretty much won against them just because of the speed we had. SS is no where near the team they were last season, and I was completely surprised they were able to beat Lindale.
Really thought Hallsville would beat them in the last week of the season to make the playoffs, but SS somehow came out on top. Don't know anything about Uni so can't really make a prediction but like I said...they're nothing like the SS last season.

Going to Indians football games is a very high priority for me, but I could not make it last week. Listened to the end on the radio. I understand it was 28-0 at half and 35-0 early in the 3rd, but I obviously could not tell you how Forney looked.

Robby Clark has resigned as head coach of the Midlothian. Clark will remain in his contract until the end of July or until he finds another job.
The AD said his goal is to have a new coach in place by the time UIL realignment takes place in early February.
Clark finished his fourth season at the helm of the Panther program two weeks ago with a 45-3 loss to Waco High. Midlothian finished the 2009 season with a 1-9 record as his overall record finished 12-28 for his time as Midlothian’s coach.
Clark's Panthers went 3-7 season in his first year. 5-5 in 2007 just missing the playoffs, then 3-7 season in 2008 was followed by this year’s 1-9 showing.
