Why not? CyFalls' OC is very good friends with Todd Dodge -- this would be a very good game. Similar offensive and defensive philosophies. CyFalls with the edge in speed / athleticism, Southlake with edge in scheme and big-game experience. Falls returning 17 starters - would be a heck of a non-district game.

Are you talking 2006-2007 or 2005-2006? I don't think CyFalls has an advantage in speed/athleticism against the SLC 05-06 team. Against our 06-07 team, we are yet to see...

This makes me giggle... It's as if people think SLC wins just on scheme alone, and 0 talent.
There's alot more team speed in SL than people give credit for...

I am so glad you brought that up. There is allot more to many of the teams than what people give them credit for. Have you seen CYFalls play? Every team out there has their strong points and weak points. Including SLC. Nobody is taking away from SLC but there are those from SCL who don't want to give anybody else any credit. Guess what, Texas High School Football is made up of more than just SLC. It is made up of lots of different teams with lots of different talent and lots of different schemes. And YES allot of those teams would play excellent games against SLC. Including CyFalls. These boys play with heart and determination plus they have the speed and talent.
Aggain, I am not taking away from the SLC program or its participants. It is a great program. But it's not always about SLC and what they do or don't do.

Misskitty, if you look, this was started, not by some arrogant Dragon supporter, but by a cyfalls person...that person is the one saying they (cyfalls) would have the edge in speed & athletecism. This is, by the way, a common thought and has been for the 13 years I've been following Carroll. It obviously is a misconception, as any of the top programs can attest. The Dragons can run with anyone...

You are right. They can run with the best of them. I have seen it myself. And I know it was a CyFalls person who started this thread. I didn't mean to call anyone arrogant. I am simply pointing out that there are allot of teams out there that could give SLC a good head to head game. And I don't recall many SLC people ever admitting that.
CyFalls #1 gave you each an edge to play with. He did not say that SLC did not have speed and athleticism. He simply said that CF has the edge there, meaning theirs may be a little more vast. And that may very well be a true statement from the games I have seen. And I have seen both teams play.
There was nothing negative in his post. So I guess what really set me off was the following posts saying that nobody gives SLC credit. And that people think SLC has zero talent. CF#1 was not trying to say any such thing.
I am sorry, I know I went on a rant. I didn't mean to offend. But it just seems to be a pattern of many SLC posters not wanting to give any other teams credit for having anything. Again, they do have a great program. But this state is full of Great programs and great talent.

I agree with all you said...just responding to the initial post. We know there are good teams all over the state, we've played 16 games over each of the past four years so we've seen most of them...if we point this out we are often called arrogant...If I point out that we have 12 commits this year, I am called arrogant..were just proud of our guys....

WOW! No flame intended to anyone -- merely a thought on matching up a team who has had unprecedented recent success against one that could be pretty powerful next year. This would be a great early season matchup and given the realignment(s) and the quest to field quality opponents in the non-district game(s), this would be a heckuva contest. SLC's tradition of success and big-game experience versus a team/program starting to establish an identity as a Region III contender year in and year out.

I suggest you join the list of fans wanting to see their team play Carroll in non-district.

Well, I have to agree with CyFalls#1 - would be a heck of a game to watch but WHAT a road trip THAT would be!! Miss Kitty - thanks, again, for taking up for us Eagles...we love you and the great majority of Katy people. I'm actually hoping for a Katy/Cy Falls preseason match up...that would be fun too. I have a question for you SLC people - there is a kid named Renfro who is going to TCU. Is that Mike's kid? My husband went to TCU with Mike Renfro and he was asking me about it.

Oh, if only they had reviews of plays back then!! That game ripped my heart out as much as the Stockton 3 pointer with .5 seconds left against the Rockets and the Dalton pass to Harris to beat Cy Falls with 31 seconds left. It's really hard to be a sports fan sometimes isn't it? But what would life be without it?

I'm pretty fond of our almost annual week 15 battles with everything on the line, myself. Playing LP in week 0-3 would certainly have a different feel, but would still probably be a great game!!........:D

I wish we could play ya'll...
Their supposedly so good (not trying to be sarcastic) i jus want to line up and play em' myself...
im tired of all da "Ya'll haven't played anyone" bull that i hear all the time, we can line up and play any team across their country and have them sweatin bullets to the final second, and thanks to the "O so great Fort Bend Athletic Coordinator"(being sarcastic) we're not allowed to play a team with credit, dont know why, the game was set-up both coaches approved, woulda been a hell of a game for the athletes and a "must see" game for both communities if not all of houston, but he just said no for no apparent reason  ... but whatever we'll jus take it out on Hastings our first game, and ummm... hopefully, and confidentally, we'll see you next December South Lake...
