Has Conroe come roaring back in time for District or is 17-5a really just that bad? People over there were predicting Conroe would get blown out. I honestly don't know what those people are smoking. Conroe has blown 7 Lakes out every other time. I think they were also predicting Taylor would blow out Lamar. Outside of Cinco and Katy, that district is HISD weak.

This sets up a pretty good matchup on Thursday between Oak Ridge and Conroe. (TV GAME) Could have big time playoff implications. At this point, any one of College Park, ORHS and Conroe could end up missing the playoffs which says a lot about the strength of 14-5a. Might DVR the game and catch some JV action between Woodz and College Park.

7lakes is still a new school that wasnt really expected to do very well.

taylor is actually shaping up to be pretty good, that was just a really really bad game.

morton... well the whole coaching/players scandal killed them off before the season could start so what was shaping up to be a great team got killed before it could get rolling.

i thought 7 lakes was older than morton, college park, atascosita and cy woods. i must have misread the predictions and expectations.

in all fairness, lamar is probably a pretty good team.

7lakes is the newest of the 17-5a schools by i think about 3-4 years. i dont know the exact date though.

the predictions were up really high on them because they had a few blowouts against other teams that werent exactly of the highest quality.

lamar is good. i still have no idea why taylor didnt throw all over them though. they look monstrous on paper and were in their other games

Are you kidding me? You Katy people were expecting Cinco to blow us out of the water. It's a pre district game. Did you see anybody upset? The only arse hurt fans I've seen so far this year are Katy fans who promised to put a serious hurting on The Woodlands. How did that work out for you?

We know Conroe has talent, but they only show it in flashes through a given year.

They tend to progressively get better coming into district. They even surprise on occasion blowing out The Woodlands and getting a win over Lufkin some years. But in the same breath, they lose to a weak College Park team to blow the district championship and lose to Oak Ridge to totally miss the playoffs. An enigma at best most years. Difficult to play against.

When you say "you Katy people" who are you talking about?? I called the Woodlands game almost on tee. Said Woodlands would be up at half...said Katy would make adjustments and come back...I thought Katy would EDGE them out...turns out Woodlands EDGED Katy out. I didnt make a prediction or even bother with the Cinco/TWCP game because I dont know anything about TWCP...matter of fact..hadnt even heard of em until I met you. I figured Cinco would win...and they did.

You should be a little careful when labeling a GROUP of people...more often than not you will be wrong.

PS...I still think it's funny that TWCP doesnt "suck" after one game with Cinco...but all of 17-5a sucks because a set of single games. One game doesnt tell the story...this is football...you should know that. I agree that 17-5a isnt great...but they are far from "sucking".

twcpfan1, give it a rest guy. I for one didn't think that Taylor would beat Lamar and I am not surprised at all about SL loosing to Conroe. Cinco won in about the same why that the Woodlands won and that is pissing you off. We have some young people here supporting one school that has only been playing varsity football for 4 years and had a fairly good run last year. They are excited about a couple of wins they have this year.

I was the one predicting a Katy blow out of Woodlands. It didn't happen, I've eaten my crow so why don't you get off of it. Better yet, go watch the films of the game and see how Woodlands won the game.

I was pleased about the Cinco game. Did not think we could hang with them to tell you the truth. I'm not sure why my post is being interpreted as me being upset over it. How could it possibly make me feel better to say a district that contains a team that just beat us is weak?

7 lakes and Morton Ranch are the two newest schools in katy, opened 2004, however this is only 7 lakes' second 5a season making it the newest 5a school by 2 years.

We have 2 top 25 teams in the state...thats 2 more than 14 districts in the state. ;)

I'd say we are average...bot not great. 2 top 25's...1 competitive team...1 hot/cold team...and 2 not so good teams. Sounds like most competitve 5a districts.

Plus, remember that Taylor last year wasn't great or very good until they caught fire in the playoffs. They beat Lamar in the playoffs last year when it counted. Three teams going at least 3 games deep in the playoffs is pretty good by most District standards.

Not sure who you are calling "young". We are almost as old and crotchety as you.;)

Seven Lakes did not have a fairly good run last year. Until this season, they had never won two games in a row. Last season they lost to Mayde Creek, Cinco and Taylor in the last two minutes. If they hadn't they would have forced a 3-way tie for the district crown. :eek: But they didn't.

I'm glad the kids are having fun this season, but beating the likes of Foster, Northbrook and Baytown Lee doesn't exactly convince me that the corner has been turned.

And for the record, I predicted a 28-24 Spartan win over Conroe, not a blowout.

i still think conroe is not very good. they havent shown me that they can be a problem, as for 14-5a being weak or not im not sure. soo far if only woods and lufkin can win in the 1st round we have problems. but as for 17-5a, i think they are the same as us. so to even things out , wait and see who goes were in playoffs.

Everyone needs to stop being a stick up everyones end and chill for a few mins. :D
