San Antonio ISD has been in a uproar over its plan to consolidate several of their high schools in an effort to save funds due to decades of declining enrollments. Currently there are 8 high schools with plans to close up to 3 of them, but the SAISD school board seems to have lost some of its backbone, caving into pressure to close some of those campuses. There are currently meetings around the district, with board members and community members trying to figure out what to do. What does this have to do with football? The SAISD has about 2 weeks to figure out what its going to do with its schools so that the accurate numbers can be turned into the UIL. Will Fox Tech and Burbank close? I think I heard that Sam Houston was saved.. but is it really? If it continues to do bad academically I dont think it will matter what the community wants. Depending on what schools end up closing will determine whether Brackenridge, Lanier and Jefferson are elevated to 5A. Or if Highlands can stay 5A a bit longer. Thoughts?
