Jerrell Wilkerson transfer ?? [Archive]

I know this is slightly old news but I see that Jerrell Wilkerson (San Antonio) and Bobby Tatum (Ft. Worth) are both transfering out of UT.

Anybody heard any news on where they're going to transfer to ?

I think that's to bad because both players were young and probably could of done some great things at Texas is they would of stuck it out another year.

Also the RB from Colorado (Michael Houston) is transfering out.

Well, when you look at the solid RB situation at UT and yet another person coming in (V-Mac) that could end up getting the nod ahead of him....Some people just wanna play. Can't blame him.

Those guys transfered just before the Rose Bowl and according to accounts at the time, Wilkerson transfered for personal reasons. Rumor was that he needed to be closer to home and was looking at Texas State or maybe even Trinity.

As for Houston, he was pretty much told to leave. He was allegedly involved in an incident back in Sept. and when the coaches got wind of it, they told him he didn't have a place on the team. Not sure where he is going, but I would look for him to go back to Colorado.

Hopefully they both (Wilkerson & Tatum) transfer to Texas St. I would like to see one of the big 3 D-1AA schools in Texas (Tx St, SFA or Sam Houston) become a D-1AA power.

There is no reason why one of those 3 schools isnt making deep runs each year in the D-1AA playoffs.

I know Sam Houston and Texas St have made recent runs to the Semi-Finals. But, other then that it's been a pretty slow run for the D-1AA teams in Texas.

I am curious to see where Jerrell Wilkerson transfers. I don't believe the rumor that he wanted to come closer to home. San Antonio is not that far from Austin. Texas State is probably where he goes.

Jerrell is tranfering to UTSA as far as I know. He has a child and a new apartment here in town. He has said he has no desire to play football any longer. At least what conversation we have had about it. How do I know? Jerrell has been to my place and I have been to his new apartment here is SA. Dont mean to break anyones heart though.

What a sad way for the San Antonio's all time rusher to end his football career if it is true, but good for him that he is still getting an education.

yea it sucks but he just is having too much trouble trying to care care of his baby and his gf. He may go back after a while but of course to a smaller school.

I'm glad he's doing the right thing and taking care of his kid. He seems to have a good dad and I always thought he was a pretty good guy himself. That shows how having kids at an early age can extinguish your dreams in many cases.

I have been made aware of a meeting next week at UTSA that will be an open forum about the Football team. Plan on attending. I'll be there no matter what. I want a team there pronto. A budgeting corporation has been hired and their feasibility and budget report will be ready in March. Chances are, they will play in C-USA along with Texas State.
