It was only a matter of time before Cujo was back and from what I hear from one of my friends that was there when Cujo beat Lufkin. Is that there are big and fast. After Longviews performance against Texas High I think JT is clearly the top dog in East Texas again it may have taken them a lil longer then expected (Since maybe 97) but they are sure looking like the old John Tyler you dont want on your schedule that you pretty much chalked up an L. Now enjoy JT for another year well maybe until the 4th RD;) but congrats because I have always said if I did not play for Lufkin there is only one other school I would have played for and that is Cujo. Congrats but I hope my Pack is able to return the favor by the end of the season.

i am the biggest lp homer there is, but who the best team was that year is subjective opinion. jt went farther in the p.o.'s beat waco a week after they beat us out, and then played for the state crown. i love good records and running the tale but that does not mean jack diddly at theend of the year without a ring. and for the record i have had season tickets since i was born, my dad started the little panther program and i was the first little panther matt mcall was my big panther. at one time my dad, wa dempsey, and mike capps were the only members of the booster club during the culpepper era. so i bleed purple and gold. also helped lead the pack to district championships in baseball in 98 and 99 but this is all opinion. i think our 2006 team was the best team in the nation, but round rock said otherwise

I agree and football is like boxing styles make fights. The only think about the 06 team was the defense was not that strong at LB still havent recovered from that lose.
Just waiting for KO sucks that I wont be able to make a game to the playoffs

I hate to say...but i agree. We have so much big heads its not even funny. Our secondary havent really had a good game since the tyler lee game..they even showed heart in the allen game. They need serious work now. I dont know what to say about our O..only thing i can think of is that there is lack of execution. Holding...fumbling you name it...there doing it too much. Gonna be a long season for us if we dont fix this.

I knew CUJO had a great offense and would at least make it to the third round, but now I believe they are state worthy. I am not saying they are going to win state or even make it to state, but i wouldn't be suprise if they did go all the way. I am a firm believer they can go all the way but I'm a keep it to myself and let them play it out.

Well people in Tyler think so, so it doesn't matter what LP think. You have your opinion and I have mine and plus I never said he was better just on his level. If I'm going to compare Johnson I'm going to compare to one of the best and that was McNeil. They both can throw the ball and beat you with their feet thats why I say they are on the same level. No disrespect to McNeil at all. It's like comparing Kobe to Jordan they both play the same way. It doesn't mean Kobe is better than Jordan. When you see Kobe you think of MJ thats all. Same way I see Johnson I think of McNeil.

That doesn't have anything to do with it. He's a great player I just dont think he's on the same level as Mcneal right now. You can say what Reggie did at the start of that season, but what did he do when he finish that season? and i'm leaving it at that..

Johnson is a freak but to think he is better then Reggie Mac is pushin the envelope a lil bit. Johnson will more then likely be a college WR where Reggie played QB in the Big 12 not at SMU.
Can Johnson lead Cujo to state this year I see why not from what I have concluded is that JT should be #1 in Texas right now.
Check it out Longview beat Allen who many thought were #1. Then you have Katy knockin off the NS who then lost to TW then you have who in a few weeks will loose to Lufkin gurantee like my check on the 1st and 15th :D then you have Lufkin beatin Longview and JT beatin Lufkin. I know this is all BS but you can actually conclude one thing from this. That East Texas is once again the best football in Texas. Also NS beat SLC last night and is there anyone that doesnt actually think after watching SLC that John Tyler could proly beat them easily as well beat NS. I aint sayin im just sayin.
Now with all the jumbo jibberish out the way. John Tyler I think should be #1 they have one of the best play makers in Texas at QB he is some what Russell Shepheard like:eek: yeah he is that good, but the Cujo defense is back to the old Cujo big and fast and like a little contact. Led by possibly the best DT in Texas.
This is going to be very exciting for East Texas football this season

I never said Johnson was better than McNeil, I just said he was on the same level by the way he is playing now. That should be a compliment by me comparing someone to McNeil. That just goes to show you how great he was. I can also guarantee you this Johnson won't be going to SMU. He only committed because that was the only offer he had at that time. Dinkins committed to TCU last year and as soon as someone else gave him a offer he decommitted, so those verbal commitments mean nothing.

I know he can play QB I think he is the best dual threat in Texas, but usually the bigger school he goes to the more likely he will play another position. I would love to see him go to U of H think he would be one hell of a QB there also at Baylor RS and replacing Griffin as a Sophmore. Last time I saw Johnson he hadnt stopped running yet :D.
What are the chances JT bust out the Cujo jersey for PO's would love to see the all blue with Cujo in white across the front.

Just WOW.....Hmmmm....JT is rolling. Truth ; whomever beats this team will have to be VERY PHYSICAL, VERY FAST on "O" and "D"...and hope JT has an off night. I'm a go ahead and say it this team is flat out "special". You can see it in the way they carry themselves. Its a quiet confidence and they're obviously playing with 4 yr chips on their shoulders. The team that beats them had better be geared for a shootout and dominant on both lines. I don't see ANY team holding them to under 35 points. Too many weapons and too many ways they can beat you. I'm still not totally sold on the "D" though. I'm not really sure they've been tested. The offense is legit. Its easily the best JT offense I've ever seen and they'll re-write JT's records books.
As for the Johnson > McNeil...naa not so much. They're 2 totally different players. McNeil was a better passer, Johnson is the better runner. It looks as though Johnson reads defenses alot better than did Reggie. I'd take either to lead my team any day of the week. If Johnson gets us a ring, we'll rehash this discussion. Oh yea, I highly doubt SMU lands Johnson or Collins...just saying. Both should be considered big time wr/ath recruits. I kinda hate the bye week comes at a time when we're clicking like we are though.

I haven't seen JT's Qb play but, some what I've read and heard, he's unbelieveable!
To be on Reggie status, he is gonna have to put his team on his back and go out and TAKE a state title! Which is exactly what Reggie did against Westlake.
IMO...McNeal was even with Vince. He just chose the wrong school.

Vondreel didn't win state or even make it to state but he is still on the same level as F. Talley same with D. Farmer and T. Ross. I don't think you have to win state to be on the same level but it helps. We all know a lot of players that were great and never won state but that doesn't mean the person who won state is better than the person who did not win state. Just looking at the body of work that Johnson has compiled is more than amazing and that's why I say he is on the same level as McNeil. McNeil doesn't have the best single year passing or touchdown record at Lufkin but he is probably still consider the best to come out of LP. Morris Anderson won state for JT and I guarantee you Johnson is better than him and I'm not taking anything from Morris because he was a hell of QB/ leader for Cujo! Johnson stats so far through five games:
passing yards 815
passing attempts 47/70 at 67%
passing TD 5
rushing yards 671
rushing carries 66
rushing TD 11
Thats pretty damn good to me!!:notworthy

Actually coming out of high school they were considered almost even prospects and Reggie had success at the college level before Vince. Going into their Sr seasons in college there still was not that much seperation between the two. Of course Vince had a magical Sr season and became a Texas football legend. Reggie struggled with injuries and arguably terrible coaching and had a disappointing Senior season. At least Reggie still plays football for a living unlike VY who practices football for a living.

Saying you beat JT in 02, 03, and 04 really don't accomplish nothing. JT might of had 25 players so you gets no respect for that because everybody beat JT. They were running on four flat tires.
