It's not that Wylie is overrated. Boyd is underrated. I saw how hard they played Cove, and I gotta say that Cove is lucky they have such a high octane offense. Boyd's QB ( I think his name is Griffin) is an amazing athlete. He picked apart Cove's defense all night. From what I understand, he did the same thing to Wylie. Congrats to the Broncos for their first win over a 5A school. My only criticism: sounds like Boyd is not making the best adjustments at half-time. Wylie scored most of their points in the second half, and Cove came back from a half-time deficit to beat Boyd a few weeks ago.

Yea Wylie wasn't overrated... Boyd is just definetely underrated... darkhorse in 8-5A for sure...

I don't think that Wylie is overrated, I think that Wylie is one of the best teams around. Good luck ya'll:)

Boyd is very underrated. I said in a post earlier that they will make the playoffs this year. I guess Cove's 10 point win against Boyd caries a little more weight now.
Congrats to Boyd. They played Cove tough and beat Wylie. I'm sure they will beat a few others in their district.

I think it's a mix of both..A 2-3 record for the state runnerups is not good at all. It's apparent that this isn't anywhere near the Wylie team that won 13 games in 2008.
It's also apparent that maybe Boyd is a little underated, but my goodness, they just beat their first 5A team ever and their defense is suspect at best...Lets tap the brakes a little bit and see them against some more teams in district, problem is, at least 2 of those district teams are pretty bad.

I know, I was just trying to be supportive, us just coming off of two hard fought losses, I know what it feels like, I was just trying to make then not feel down in the dumbs. That's an excellent point though

I understand...And I could have quoted any number of posts in this thread to make my point, so I wasn't calling you out at all...Your a good person for lending a little moral support..Like I said, its just a combination of things...Boyd is a little good and Wylie is a little bad.

Fiddlefarts :( That's the week we play Colleyville and I said I'd go with to that game. What's the second best one you'd suggest??? And how much are the tickets??? I hope I don't sound like a traitor saying I want to go to a Southlake game, but some friends from church go there and I like to try to go to all the different school games that I have friends at church

We have Marcus in 3 weeks and Hebron in 5 weeks...Those are our only remaining home games.
Tickets are $6 at one of the schools and $7 at the gate on game night.
I doubt anyone will think you are a traitor at all...Sometimes its fun to get out and see other teams, the best thing to do is to go on a night when Trinity is away, so you get to see all their home games.

Boyd is turning heads alright. Jonovan Griffin is crazy good. But just think how good they would be if Darren Alves hadn't moved to Durant Okla. Allen plans on using 12 guys on defense when the refs arent looking.:D

I was standing on the sideline, and here's a couple opinions of Boyd...
Yes, they have a couple very good players. Outside that, there isn't much. Boyd took advantage of finding holes in the defense. As many teams will do. Wylie defenders were flat footed the whole 1st half expecting Griffin to bust out a big run. However, that never happened. When they realized that, they lightened up, and shut Boyd down in the 2nd half. Wylie put themselves in position for the comeback win. With 3 minutes to go, they went for a 2 point conversion that would have made it an 8 point game. However, the missed. Wylie had another drive shortly thereafter, where the wide open receiver was overthrown. So, had both of those things happened... it would have been a tie game, assuming Wylie got another 2 point conversion.
Don't get me wrong, Boyd is a very good team. Wylie was flustered, and was down 30-0 at halftime. But, they changed up their game plan. Wylie also only complete 4 passes in the first half. 14 in the 2nd half. Not sure why Wylie wouldn't pass more in the 1st half, but I guess that was their game plan. Several players on the sideline were complaining because they knew Boyd knew what was coming, yet the coordinators wouldn't change their play calling.

I saw Wylie in at least two state top 20's pre-season thats what I mean by overrated, they are mediocre at best. I see a 5th place finish at best

Good Job Broncos. As I posted in a different Thread, Boyd will make some waves in their district because they can score. However, their defense gives up a lot of points. It is good to see them get the win!

I agree. How can you be down 30-0 at the half and say that ya'll should've won? Sounds to me like the team that should've won did win.

I think most are saying Boyd is underrated and Wylie is overrated. Thats what I said anyway. Though I also added that we shoud slow the Boyd fame down a litle bit considering they are just now starting to show some improvements.

Seems like every year the Allen band puts on an amazing show. One of the things I miss about not being in the Lone Star State, seeing the Allen Eagle Escadrille. (sp?)
The defense has regressed every year since our 2007 team, it seems like too much pressure is put on Jeffcoat to preform since nobody around him really has this year.

Ah, you know it's the same thing with just about any really good team. You can't tell them their team is overrated even if you legitimately think they are because they go postal on you.
That's why it's so fun to watch the season unfold because of all the surprised homers!! :D
