They lost 70-63 and turn around and lose 71-58 the next:eek:

You got to be kidding me!

They must be playing with only eight on D!

yeah, but it doesn't say much about their opponent's D either... :D

For one we will see what Boyd has now that we are in district play.

Well the second score was 78-51 (sorry, I'm just anal that way), but MHS does have a problem on defense. I saw Coach Reyes on Sports Talk McKinney last night. He and his entire staff are very aware of the issue and are going to try a few adjustments to fix it. He didn't say what, but they rarely do.

Best I can tell everyone is perplexed by this. The players, coaches and parents. I was at the Boyd game Friday, and the MHS defense has guys that are plenty fast, and can tackle, but in crucial situations, for some reason, they seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think they have one of the best offenses in the state, and Zach Lee is just flat awesome as QB, but the downside is, they have to be perfect and score on every drive just to stay in the game. That's a lot of pressure for high school kids.

Bobby Reyes is a good coach and he'll get something figured out. The defense really just needs to be better... they don't need to be perfect. With their offense, and some defense, MHS will get into the playoffs.

BTW... here's a link to the McKinney Sports talk online. Be warned... it's long, but Bobby Reyes is at the beginning.

I'll assume they put 95% of their skill guys on O, and probably don't care much about defense.

I don't think that they "don't care". In fact I think they care a lot! From what I can tell, they just don't know how to fix it. As stated above, they're going to make some sdjustments for tomorrows game with Frisco Wakeland. Will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

I think this thread belongs on the Rest of the Best board.

And yes, the Lions defense sucks.

They are giving up 68 points and according to another board, 700 yds per game. It's almost too bad to be true.

I'm thinking D town and Sher Town have to be licking their chops to play that D right now...of course, they might not want to play that offense though.:D

Copperas Cove score 48 points on their defense, but the Cove offensive game plan focuses on the ground game. When Cove went for the long pass play they scored easily. When Cove ran the ball they scored quickly but after several plays. I would say based on the Cove game, if a team goes for the long ball on every play they will score easily against Boyd. If they run the ball it will make the score lower but still the score will be high. Boyd does have a great Offense. Their QB is quick and is a great passer. Their passes are mostly under the coverage. But the QB is smart enough to move them down the field and score. Boyd will hurt many teams defensive stats, but can they score enough to make up for their defense inabilty to stop the other teams offense? Good luck to Boyd in their district, watch out for their QB, he makes the team go.

You've got your McKinney Schools mixed up. These guys are talking about McKinney High (a 4A school). Cove played McKinney Boyd. One of the scores mentioned above was the McKinney High vs McKinney Boyd. The final was 78 - 51 with Boyd taking the win.

Easy to get all those McKinney schools confused.

... but you are correct. Boyd's weak spot is defense as McKinney High did manage to hang 51 point on them. I'm not sure if that's an indication of a bad defense, or McKinney Highs very potent offense. As I've said before, McKinney Highs QB - Zach Lee - is a stud. He passes the ball better than anyone I've ever seen at the highschool level. Now if they just had a 'D' to back it up, they'd be a huge contender for a state title.
